One of the most unique pieces of 19th Century fiction extant. Kennedy’s work is at once a political history of his era as well as a novelized account of the life of a small town in the Early Republic. Kennedy’s ferociously satirical indictment of Jackson, Van Buren, and the Democrats’ was on the Bank of the United States is as hilarious as it is damning. For the historian or man of letters interested in learning more about the United States ca 1840, look no further than Quodlibet.
