Coming home—but is the price too high for the Williams siblings? Their father drove them away, now the conditions of his will are forcing them home and they may not like the rules he’s set. The city hasn’t been kind to Doctor Russ Williams and he can’t wait to leave his broken marriage behind him. Superstar rugby player Cade, his career threatened by a crippling injury, has to face the fact that his glory days might be over. Rooney, carrying a secret she won’t be able to hide if she returns but lured by the promise of owning a vet practice. Three very different siblings with their own dreams, forced to face reality on the family property, confronted at every turn by their past. Will there be time for love?
I swear I was born with a book in my hand and that is how I spent most of my childhood. That was fine until I got older and the voices in my head demanded to be heard and I started to write. The voices are no quieter but there are less of them.
I will start this review with full disclosure, I was given a free copy of COMING HOME with the hope that I would review it. My critique of this book is an honest representation of my opinions and feelings towards the story and is in no way coerced or compensated in any monetary form.
I curled up on the couch and consumed Coming home, doing nothing else until I read those final words “the end”. It is the story of three siblings who have been left with emotional scaring from a hard childhood, life is definitely not going well for any of them when they return to the family property after their father's death. The terms of the will are quite harsh and they must stand together or lose it all. The Williams siblings are endearing in their dysfunctional yet faultlessly loyal love for each other. As the reader I found myself rooting for their family dynamics to be restored as much as I was for each sibling to find love.
Coming home was almost like four stories in one and this kept the story fresh and compelling, I loved the concept of following the three of them as they re-found each other, dealt with personal demons and tried to find time for love. It is quite ironic that the same thing I loved about Coming Home is also the only thing I wished was different. I wish there was more time given to each of the siblings, it felt a little rushed in places as Russ, Cade and Rooney all competed for play time.
I like the way Ann B Harrison builds suspense, quite a unique skill in the romance genre, I love the more realistic approach to love stories and the drama powerful enough to tug on the heart strings. I wish however that the story/stories had gone on longer and been filled in a bit more. Rooney's love story is the only one that felt complete when the book ended, I wanted to know more about Cade and Russ, their stories felt incomplete to me. This incomplete feeling is the only reason I feel I can not give Coming Home 5 stars.
Will coming home be too much for the Williams siblings? Their father drove them away for different reasons, but after his death his will forces them to return or lose the home they have ever known. Russ, Cade, and Rooney Williams have all come to a crossroads in their lives and they must all make a difficult decision and confront the consequences upon coming home. Russ is dealing with a horrid ex-wife who is making his life hell and he is restless in his current job. Cade, the football star, has had a possible career ending injury and is faced not being able to play rugby anymore. Rooney has a big surprise for her family along with the possibility of owning her own vet hospital if she is to return.
If I could I would give this a 3.5 rating. Although I enjoyed the story and the multiple POVs the ending just stopped. I was expecting so much more afterwards. All three siblings have their own demons to get past and frustrations to get over upon returning home after their fathers death. I do enjoy a HEA book and this is one of them. It is almost as if Ann B. Harrison had a glimpse into these three siblings lives and decided to give the reader a taste of what they have gone through. She hints at events in their lives with the parents but there is no real back story other than what forced them to leave home and never return. I really enjoyed the characters Ann has created, she did a great job to get us to understand their motives and fears for the future. The secondary characters, Kate, Stevie, and Nurse Stanley are great and really work great into the story. I almost wish there is more to this story beyond how Ann ended things, because I feel she only touched the tip of what these characters are really about and where they come from. Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock and Ann B. Harrison have provided this wonderful story for my honest opinion and I hope others enjoy it as well.
Different from ABH's other stories, this is more a three-in-one book which sees the three William's siblings returning home after the death of their father. While none of them got on well with their father, it may be that the lesson to be learned is that home is where the heart is. Rooney's story is the most complete; it helps that she has a history with Stevie, the local police officer. Cade and Kate seem a great match but Kate isn't quite ready to trust Cade, the playboy footy star. Russ is the quiet, elder brother; I would like to have seen more of him and felt his story was a little brief. However, there is a sense of how his character has become stronger by the end, and an indication that he is on the path to happiness.
I know this is probably greedy but--what about poor Tory? Surely the gorgeous man deserves his own tale? I hope we'll be seeing more of him.
Another great read from Ms. Harrison. It was a little different than her previous novels. While the steamy scenes were there, there was also more romance. I like how flowing the three, well almost four, story lines are told. The three siblings each facing their own demons and I found myself rooting for each one of them to find a happy end. As an animal lover, I was in tears at a point during Rooney's story. I really enjoyed "Coming Home" and wish it was longer. I fell in love with the characters and would love a sequel to find out where life is taking them.
I can not wait to read more from this brilliant author!
Just finished “Coming Home” by Ann B. Harrison, and I was entranced by the Williams clan of grown children, each plagued by personal and professional difficulties, when they are forced to return home to keep the family property in the family after the death of their difficult patriarch. Grown siblings at their worst AND best. Always interesting to read Ann’s Australian surroundings and characters, rich and multi-faceted, with a good sprinkling of old-fashioned passion to boot. Another great romance novel by one of my fave romance writers!
This story was aptly named. Each grown child, Russ, Cade, Rooney all returned to the ranch after their father died. He was a hard man on the children. A condition of their inheritance was each had to,retune home. Each had issues of their on, and this made the story very interesting. Enjoy.
So much going to keep the mind intrigued, so much geographical familiarity in this book which makes me think it could have been any number of families this story could have been based on making it appear a true story almost, a very enjoyable read
Although I loved the stories, the 3 stories finished abruptly again. They needed a epilogue Did Russ end up with Lizzy ( married etc) Cade and Kate marry Rooney and Stevie’s wedding- did they have any more children? So many open ended questions here left open.
COMING HOME - ANN B HARRISON Kakak beradik Williams, Russ, Cade & Rooney terpaksa pulang kampung setelah ayah mereka meninggal dunia. 2
A great read by Ann. I loved how the 3 stories where tied into the one book. The three Williams siblings each had their own demons to slay.....Then they all had to move back home at the hands of their deceased fathers will.
