Eric Fletcher is alone in his sailboat in the South Pacific when he encounters a mysterious gold glow which transports him to a WWII army base in 1942. Eric, the base, and its soldiers are then transported to an alternate universe filled with unimaginable horrors. In this parallel dimension, Eric and the soldiers must not only protect themselves from vicious creatures lurking all around them, but from hostile natives that are intent on destroying Eric and the soldiers.The base has airplanes, but no pilots and Eric finds that he must learn to fly one of the war planes in order to repel the relentless enemy. Though he earned a private pilot license back in his world of 2012, teaching himself to fly a WWII war plane is a huge challenge, but it is one that he must meet because without the plane to protect them, everyone that has been moved to this strange new world is facing a disastrous end. Eric finds a romantic interest in one of the nurses stationed on the base, but his biggest concern is just staying alive to fly the plane.This is a story of ordinary people cast into an unreal situation and their fight for survival against relentless enemies.

Good, entertaining read with an interesting concept. Technical errors yes but the author takes this into consideration in his notes and they do not get in the way of the plot.
