Jason is unlike any other eighteen year old. A street kid with special abilities, his only contact with authority is Detective Alice Farrow. Whenever Alice needs help with difficult cases, she enlists Jason as an informant while attempting to keep his abilities secret. When Trevor Mason--one of the city's most notorious criminals--does the unthinkable, Alice and her partner must prevent Jason from becoming a tool of destruction. Can they rescue Jason before his full power is unleashed?
Adrianne Lemke started writing at age eighteen, and never stopped. She has written a complete five book series (The Earthshaker Series), the connected series (Broken Minds) which is ongoing, an ongoing zombie series (Patient Zero), and more! She has a Bachelor's degree in English from Wisconsin Lutheran College. She currently lives in rural Wisconsin on a small farm with two horses, two dogs, several barn cats, a bunch of chickens, and a house cat.
Well, this definitely wasn't one of my usual go-to genres, but I have to say it was a fun read! Lots of action, smooth pacing, and characters you can really root for. I particularly liked Alice's character, and enjoyed reading her POV. Would recommend.
I really enjoyed this book! Action-packed and full of interesting characters, Tracker follows the story of Jason, a teenager with special powers much like the Earthbenders in Avatar: The Last Airebender. He works as a teenage informant for the police, which gets him into trouble with Mason, one of the most sadistic jerks I've read lately.
I don't want to give away any spoilers, so I'll keep this brief. I do want to say I really enjoyed Lemke's writing style. It was descriptive, yet simple to follow and easy to get caught up in. It served the plot, which was packed full of action, really well. I particularly enjoyed the interactions between Hannah and Jason. Hannah is the younger sister of Detective Alice, the officer Jason works with to help catch criminals. Hopefully Hannah and Jason get together in the second book in the series!
Overall, Tracker is a fast-paced read with plenty of action that kept me eagerly coming back. 5 Stars!!
This book is about a young man with special abilities and the cop that is helping him to help her as an informant. It is written very good and the reading flows. I sincerely appreciate a good read and this one is! I am on to the next book to see what becomes of Jason and Alice.
This was well written, letting the reader know about the sex trafficking trade without being too graphic. I really hope it was not written from personal experience but from research.
Tracker by Adrianne Lemke is an interesting twist on typical police drama by utilizing unique fantasy elements. Jason is a young man with the ability to connect to and control the earth, which allows him to track people through it. He's recruited by the police to bring down a crime boss and thrilling drama ensues.
Honestly, it took me a bit to get into the story. I'm a very characterdriven reader, and Jason is very skittish and moody. The reasons become painfully clear as the book progresses, but it felt like there was a wall separating me from fully knowing him as a character for quite a while. That said, there was lots of action to keep my attention until then, though. So much so that when I got to the end, I couldn't believe it was over.
Tracker is a solid start to this series. If you like cop drama, found family, and magic powers, you're sure to enjoy this book.
Once I really sank into this book, it was hard for me to put down. Especially in the last third or so, I raced through!
The story starts out with a street kid named Jason who can manipulate earth and track people through it. He has been recruited to help the police arrest a crime boss, and unfortunately, his good intentions get him into serious trouble.
I enjoyed the characters in this book as well as the action. It was heartbreaking learning Jason’s past. I thought his skiddish/paranoid tendencies were realistic and the sad mark of a kid who’s gone through so much trauma.
The climax went a little fast, but still wrapped up the main story satisfactorily. While the main plot was resolved, there were still a few threads left open for future books. The last chapter is really a kicker. I’m looking forward to the next book!
First read for this author and going to be reading more. Jason is a tracker. He has special powers which enable him to put his ear to the earth and know the persons tracks and where to locate them. Jason is also a runaway since he was 13. He has been living on the streets and protecting other children that have run from home because of their treatments, most have been abused. Alice is a detective and the only person that Jason trusts. He helps her with finding missing persons.
Jason is now 18 and Alice asks him to track a criminal, Mason. This guy is bad news and into everything illegal, even murder. But Jason's powers have grown and he can actually become a human earthquake by making the earth move.
This latest case Jason is helping Alice with, might cost him his life though as Mason has found out about his powers and wants to control him for his purposes.
Great book which has a lot of action. 5 stars for a great book!
I'm going to start by talking about the amazing new covers. They are gorgeous and eye catching. I knew I had to read this series. I read the synopsis and I was hooked. I was impressed with the writing as it seemed to flow effortlessly even though there was alternating point of views. I feel like I got a great glimpse in to each of the characters and felt really connected to them. My favorite character is Jason probably because of his super power and his need to protect the children. I would recommend this book to any of my fantasy loving friends.
