This was a very interesting dive into multiple different trials from around the world. Emily Thompson did a fantastic job covering a variety of different court systems, she hit almost every continent at least once. My only issue with the book is there was a lack of acknowledgement for the victims. I would’ve liked to see a list of the victims names at the end of the chapter, especially for the mass shooters and serial killers. Anders Brevik killed 77 people and only a few of them were mentioned in the chapter. However, if you would like to learn not only about specific trial issues that can arise in a criminal case, but about the trial process in different countries, this is a fantastic book for it.

The arrest and trial. The vital evidence. The final verdict.

Courtroom cases from Lizzie Borden, Peter Sutcliffe, Amanda Knox and Derek Chauvin…

If you are a fan of True Crime, I highly reccomend you read @emmyytee I have read most of her work and she is great!

“She is not Amanda the Ripper. She is a little crazy, extravagant. She does the cartwheels in the police station because reality for her is too strong to deal with.”

This book was extremely informative and provided me with new information about a lot of trials that I was already familiar with. It was nice to not only get the specifics of the incident, but also to get a play-by-play of some of these trials that were not televised I would absolutely read more from this author. My only critique is that there could’ve been a more expensive selection of famous trials rather than a repeat of the same ones that everyone writes about.
