Released in January 2024, this guide is an up-to-date food exploration of the world’s most delicious city.
From the city’s most fabulous food podcaster, cook and guide, Andrew Prior, this food guide is more than a restaurant guide; it takes you on a journey through Paris’ food street, to boulangeries, pâtisseries, boucheries, fromageries, épiceries, as well as food halls, food markets, bouillons, bistros, wine bars and its famed passageways.
A city of 13 million people, Paris' size and diversity is the reason the visitor needs a curated guide like Andrew Prior to do the hard work.
This guide is the product of his years living, studying and running a food tours business in Paris and France as well as a popular French food podcast, Fabulously The French Food Podcast. More importantly, it’s his love for everything French food - its tastes, traditions, secrets, complexity and diversity - that has brought this book to life.
3 stars due to it seeming like there wasn’t an editor. I mean… some of these errors, yikes. He gushed over his ultimate role model: Julia Child[s]. Yes, more than once he referred to his supposed role model as Julia Childs. With an “S” on her last name. If she’s your role model, maybe spell her name right. Huge pet peeve of mine, Julia deserves better, sir.
Plus one star for beautiful photographs and some fun (but sometimes borderline pretentious) information
