The Reign Deer Games are held every three hundred years to replace Santa's sleigh drivers. This is followed by The Great Rut, where reindeer shifters hope to find their one true mate - or mates.
Olive wants none of either. She has no desire to try out for a position pulling Santa's sleigh. And she doesn't even want to think about the possibility of having mates.
Because of her clumsiness and a harassing family member, she finds shifters who want her as their mate.
Can Olive make it through the festivities while avoiding potential mates and not causing a disaster?
No. No, she cannot. Olive is bright, but she is clumsy. This is a novella, just short of 39k words. It is also an RH, with MFMM (no MM) - meaning one female and three males. It is medium spice and steam.
Absolutely loved it and honestly want more of Olive and her guys. Loved the different magic gifts her and the guys had as well. Her great grandpa is hilarious. Her evil sister getting what she deserves at the end was perfection 🤣
I don’t even know what to write (say) 😅 I did liked it. It was funny and weird, but I will probably not read it again, because writing was little bit chaotic for me (but that’s my problem and not the authors or yours problem|) It worked in that crazy shifter thing, and it was Christmassy, so for this time of the year, it was great 🎄 I’m sure that word “lick”is burned in my brain forever, but males it this story were funny and that is what counts. But really, you should give it a try, in worst case you will laugh a lot as I did 😁 They have antlers in human form what more you need, and they adore her in that little bit weird way 🖤 One good point is that I learned new words, which I will probably not remember after few days, but still, in a long time I needed to use translator to understand 😅
This was a lot different book than I was expecting. It was a bit confusing at the beginning as it seemed like they were reindeer all the time, but were really in human form. It wasn't until the first one shifted that it fully made sense to me. I think it was because of the treats and thoughts they kept having that made it seem awkward. However, once Olive meets her mates, the story gets interesting. While it's instalove, it still felt like a slow burn. There wasn't a ton of angst or drama in the story and there were lots of steamy moments to be shared. I liked the history of the bloodlines from the original reindeer and how their descendants would be the strongest to take over for the retiring teams. It'd be fun to see these four in a few hundred years, after having popped out a few kids and been through a few Christmases to see where they are and what mischief they are still getting up to.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was actually super cute!! And reindeer shifters?? Prepping for literal Reindeer Games to see who will join Santa’s sleigh team for the next few centuries from the different OG bloodlines?? Genius and fascinating world-building 👏🏻👏🏻
Olive was an adorably oblivious clutz whose bloodline reveal makes you go “well, of course she is!” Add in a why choose fated mates scenario, a cruel and whiny relative, and a magical mishap and you’ve got this shifter holiday romance just about summed up.
This was interesting... I honestly felt like I was missing this whole back story or something. I was confused for about half this story 🤷♀️and I admit I skimmed the last chapter. I just wanted to be done with it. I enjoyed the idea of it. But I just didn't care for it.
The characters were okay; but I didn't feel any real attachment to them. I couldn't have cared less if they got together or not.
This was my first book by this author and I found it when I went to search for holiday RH novellas/stories and this did not disappoint. I loved Olive and her clumsiness and her wanting to stay hidden in plain sight/in the shadows. I loved her personality and her fierceness but her meekness as well. Her ability makes her self conscientious and I could connect with her despite the storyline. Also her lack of mouth filter was hilarious and I snorted at a lot of the scenes with her mates haha.
I enjoyed the 3 guys as well. I loved the background with their family tree (I honestly got confused as the book went on with prodigy and progeny and it wasnt a huge deal so I probably would have edited that out to be honest). I liked the other characters as well. I hope we get more from this world, I want to see what happens to Finn and more about some of the sleigh team! I thought Nik was funny and the sleigh moment and acknowledgment was great haha. I also loved her family member and want to meet more of her family to be honest (maybe we can get a follow-up sequel and meet her family if the group has kids and stuff muahaha).
I think the storyline was a little wobbly at moments. I was confused about the different cubes but to me I was more focused on the romance and the bonding/mating to be honest. I wanted to get to know the guys and see them stick up for her with her cow of a sister, I mean cousin ;) I do wish their dad got a piece handed to him and wasnt rewarded, because he allows his daughter to treat the other like the dirt on his hoof. Oh and it took me awhile to realize the male and female name of their kind haha. I did enjoy their shifted form! I loved the ending, that was adorable and I was envisioning it in my head perfectly.
Great job by this author, I will be checking them out next year and adding a series of theirs to my TBR. I hope they continue in this world though, it would be a shame if we didnt get more from this author world. And I totally want a candy cane chew now haha.
I have to say I loved this book a whole lot more than I thought I would. It took me a chapter or two to really get into the story; with this being a short standalone, I felt like I had to digest quite a lot of information about the world in those first chapters. But once I truly got it, I really enjoyed it, until I was sad it was done way too soon.
First of all; I really love reading about a clumsy fmc with a lack of brain-to-mouth filter. Olive is a truly funny character, and I was glad all the chapters were in her POV because her mind is a hilarious place to be at... On top of that, I thought the whole concept of this book was great. The idea of reindeer shifters who have to battle for a place with Santa is an original take on shifters, especially with all of them being divided in families descended from the original reindeer like Rudolph, Dasher, Vixen, ... Add a fated mates trope to it all and some pretty hilarious scenes, and reading this book made me truly happy.
I never thought the perfect Christmas book existed, but this one definitely comes close. The theme was chosen perfectly, it's not too short nor too long, it's enticing enough to take your mind off from peopling and it's so funny it will make you smile no matter what.
Reindeer shifter why choose 👀. What a unique fun read in the why choose shifter world. I loved this it was so holiday festive.
Olive was klutzy and corky with her own unique Rudolph gifts she wanted to keep hidden. Not looking to be mated she was not expecting Sasha, Anzor or Maksim to happen or for them to say that she was their mate.
This was a light and shorter novella read, well written and spiced just right. I loved that each one is a direct descendent of the original reindeer line. I wasn’t to crazy about the font color and I could not figure out how or if it could be switched.
When I first saw the title and main female character’s name (showing my age here) I couldn’t help but laugh, knowing this story was going to be fun as I was reminded of a movie called Olive, the other reindeer (which is about a postal service dog, though so not to be confused with this story in any way).
I absolutely loved the way Olive’s mind worked, her running dialogue and short circuit tangents not only making her endearing but so relatable to those of the oooo shiny and squirrel minds of the world. Plus I loved how her men accepted her this way, not trying to stop the cogs but help her through them. Perfect matches in so many ways. I hope to see more rom-coms from this author in the future.
If you love the story of Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, this is the book for you. This is a cute spin to the story about the descendants of Santa’s original reindeers. This is the story of Olive, Maksim, Sasha and Anzor, a MFMM, why choose romance. The reindeer games are in full force and reindeer are looking for their mates.
Olive was such a relatable FMC. She was clumsy, insecure, and wanted to please. She did not, however, mates. I will not share which lineage each of the MC’s are from, but I will say they live up to their family name. I loved this story. If you want a quick, cute, feel-good Christmas story, this is the book for you.
The Other Reindeer was a sweet and steamy, reindeer shifter, fated mates, why choose/reverse harem, Christmas themed rom com. Olive is a quirky reindeer. She is attending the reindeer games but doesn't care to be mated. Only to find three hunky guys who claim they are her mates. I had a hard time starting this one, but then it picked up. It had a slow burn to it and some spiciness. I absolutely loved Olive and her mates. The chemistry was decent, and the ending was happy. The font color messed with my head, though, as could not darken on my Kindle. Overall, it was an enjoyable read.

Rebekah says in the beginning a warning about how the story is short and so it gets right to the point with not much relationship development. I did not find that to be the case at all. I thought character development and relationship development were great. Was it fast, yes, but they were fated mates so you have to anticipate that. I have read other similar length novellas that were not done as well.
This story was funny, cute, spicy, and I love the ties into Christmas folklore. A great read for this time of year! The only downfall is I want more!
Such a fun and original read, with Reindeer shifters and why choose. Filled with humor, drama, a little spice, and also lots of feelings. I loved Olive. Her inner monolog and insecurities, all of it made her relatable and loveable. Maksim, Sasha and Anzor were her mates. I love that they didn't give up on her. I enjoyed the banter and steam between them. Overall, I thought it was a short and sweet read!
This short book was very cute. The FMC is clumsy and I loved her inner thoughts. The MMCs are very sweet and would do anything for their girl. I liked how Saint Nick was portrayed in this book, very different than others I've read. I would read this book again come another Christmas time. One very unusual thing about this book was the Kindle edition words were green. It surprised me and I enjoyed it.
Honestly I didn't even read the title of the book before reading the description. As soon as I saw the FMC was named Olive and they were reindeer, immediately I thought of the movie, that's when I noticed the title😜. The book is a great quick read, and Olive is wonderfully chaotic. Cute story for the holiday season. Now I have this urge to watch a certain movie I've not seen in years.
"Whenever I thought of the sleigh, it would be about getting my sack pounded full of goodies."
I didn't really like how all the characters beside the three main love interests got no detailed character descriptions because I couldn't tell who is who for the most part. There are a bunch of side characters and would've liked to envision how they look and our main character too. However, I did enjoy all the fun Christmas ennuendos. This is a lighthearted Christmas romance with smut.
The narrators do an amazing job giving these characters a voice. They transported me into the story with ease. They added a layer of excitement to an already entertaining tale.
The story is full of laughs and heat. A quick and wildly fun ride. The characters fit together so well. She's heartwarmingly quirky and they bring those hot alpha vibes. I couldn't get enough of this sweet escape.
What an adorable holiday read! It takes Santa and his reindeers and shifters and mixes them together. I love a klutzy main character especially when she finds strappingly big alpha males to keep her safe from everything even herself.
The narrators are why I was listening because they are amazing but I loved the story so much I can’t wait to read more!!! The narrators just add so much to the story with thier crazy skill to do voices and to infuse every word with emotions!
I had a niggling feeling in the back of my brain that associated the name Olive with Christmas. Google to the rescue. Olive, the Other Reindeer is a children’s cartoon about a dog that believes she is a reindeer. I don’t think I've ever seen it so don’t know why I am aware of it.
The Olive in this book is a human/reindeer shifter. She rarely gets anything right despite her best intentions. She has a female relative named Hana who denigrates her at every opportunity. Olive is working at a booth during the Reign Deer Games, which is followed by the Great Rut. Olive has no interest in participating in either. Fate has other plans and she is confronted by three gorgeous males who claim she is their mate. This goes over about as well as you’d expect with Hana.
The true heritage of the four mates is revealed as well as their destinies. Hana gets her just desserts.
This was an engaging and fun story. I loved the immediate character development. For a short story, the Author has done a lovely job showing who each character is. I love Christmas short stories, especially when they are spicy and full of laughs. The twist on Santa and his reindeer was unique and enjoyable. I can't wait to dig into this author's other novels.
This story was a quick easy read. Olive was such a fun character with her clumsiness and quirkiness. I loved the storyline of them being reindeer shifters trying for out for Santa’s sleigh team. Also thought it was really cute that they are descendants from the original reindeer. Hope there’s more reindeer shifter stories to come!
This is great short why choose Christmas book. The main characters in this book are reindeer shifters that have gathered to see who will be the next to pull Santa's sleigh. Everything is going good until our main character meets her fated mates and has a few accidents along the way. Great Christmas read.
What a fun way to ring in the holidays with some reindeer shifters. It will have you rethinking Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer song for sure! RMD packed all of the fun into this short, gingerbread spicy read… the quirky, clumsy FMC, the 3 dashing studs, the mean girl, the intrigue, the hidden purpose… and the HEA… it was a sweet read to pick up before Christrmas! I’ll put it in rotation!
I love this!! I'm always looking for the next new type of shifter book and when I saw this was a reindeer shifter I couldn't resist!! Its adorable and quirky and well written. The characters were well depicted, and their chemistry was amazing. The plot keeps you interested the whole time with no lows. Highly recommend reading this!!
I really liked this story. It was a bit confusing at first, but that was down to some of the deer terminology I think. Regardless, it didn’t take anything away from the story. The story was funny, mischievous, happy, sad and sizzling 🥵. I loved that she was viewed as the ‘lesser’ when any one person is as important as the next regardless of station. Loved it!!
This is my first reindeer shifter romance such a cute pic for Christmas in July and I absolutely loved this from our clumsy and cute main character to the men who knew exactly what they wanted and will worship their glowing star for years to come I highly recommend this cozy but still amazingly spicy read!
I picked this up thinking it would be a silly shifter holiday story but everything flowed really well together and the story worked well. The pacing was great, the major plot points were resolved and overall this was a really enjoyable read. Not a lot of spice but it’s definitely there. Would honestly read more books in this series.
Oh my goodness. The spice?? The drama?? I am absolutely HERE FOR IT. i love fated mates and i love THIS. Olive is clumsy yet endeering (get it) and we get the best reveal midway 💕 i love her. i relate to her. her mates got the best end of the deal in my opinion
That was a cute and funny little holiday novella. I really liked the characters and enjoyed the inner musings of our FMC. I liked the different takes on shifters, reindeers and Santa’s sleigh team. Fun and imaginative! Give this one a read for the holiday! 4⭐️ 2🌶
