After the death of her mother, Nancy is relocated to a place she’s never known her family’s ancestral home, the haunted Spottswood Mansion, located in the quiet hamlet of Summer’s End Louisana. Starting school at Talbot High without knowing anyone can be challenging. Still, Nancy is experiencing a tough time adjusting to her life as a Freshman, falling victim to bullying by Emma, the leader of the popular girl group The Posh Girls. But things are starting to improve as Nancy is also making friends with the social wallflowers of Talbot High, The Outcasts. The Outcasts are intrigued by Nancy’s home at Spottswood Mansion and its spooky history. During a sleepover, the girls hold a séance and discover the Liber Magicorum, an ancient spell book in a hidden room. Using the spell book, Nancy and her friends cast a popularity spell, reversing the social structure of Talbot High. Now, the Outcasts are the popular girls. However, not everyone is happy with recent events, and with every spell the girls cast, dire consequences emerge, especially when the Posh girls steal the Liber Magicorum and threaten the students of Talbot High. Will Nancy and the Outcasts be able to recover the Liber Magicorum and save the students of Talbot High?

After her mother died, a girl and her alcoholic dad move into the mother's ancestors' house. She becomes friends with the school's outcasts and enemies with the mean girls. She finds a spell book. I nice beginning to the series, enough unanswered questions to keep reading to the next book. Some editing mistakes and I would have liked to have seen some more minor magic before the climax.
