"Once upon a time, there was a girl who watered her kingdom with her tears . . ."
Trapped by the threads of fate, Selene, a demi-fae, is granted an opportunity to free herself from the confines of her destiny. She must embark on a journey to become the greatest temptress the continent has ever seen.
However, Selene’s unwavering moral compass and ineptitude at courting males leave her in a position where she must either betray herself or suffer the wrath of the Fae Goddess who crafted her for such a destiny.
So, I guess I can review my OWN novel... And you bet I'm doing just that.
I am probably just like you... a book girly who had a severe hangover after finishing ACOTAR and ToG. A Dance of Fates was born to nurse that hangover by offering a developed but easy-to-understand magical world and characters that will blow you away with their self-development and relationship development... not to mention the plot twists that will smack you out of nowhere. I wrote this book to keep you turning pages, and boy, oh boy, my ARC readers are finishing in under 24 hours!? NUFF SAID.
Anyway, because this is my work, I am sure my review holds a taddy bit less weight, which is totally understandable, so let me leave you with this:
What does my book have that makes it worth your time to read:
- Character development and a dose of primal female rage - Tasteful smut... to put this plainly, not YA spice! - A fast-paced environment crafted to never lag - Plot twists sprinkled throughout the book (not just at the end) - Momentum that makes you feel like you're tipping forward... and forward... and then you hit Part III and fall off your seat ;)
Anywho, thanks for reading my review of my own book. She is glorious. She is the moment. AND that cover? Truly beautiful from the inside out.
Okay, so I have some pretty mixed feelings about this book. In a nutshell, though, I liked it enough that I will read the second book, particularly towards the middle of the book when the plot really got going. Once it did, it hooked me, and I finished this book in a day.
Let's start with what I liked about it. First and foremost, I think the plot and world-building in this book are incredibly original. I've read quite a few 'romantasy' books in the past year or so, and this one is not like anything I've read. The premise was easy enough to understand but left enough room for unexpected plot twists. This book kept me guessing until the end and was not what I thought it would be, which I liked. I also liked the personalities of many of the characters, and the author does a good job of creating endearing and memorable personas. Selene grew on me, and I'm excited to see how she continues to evolve in book two.
There were a couple of things I didn't like. First of all, I had an issue with the sentence structure in many parts of the book. I know it's self-published, so some of that is to be expected. Still, beyond the occasional grammar error, the way some of the sentences were written interrupted the flow of the prose. I think this book may have benefitted from some more rigorous line editing. The other thing that bothered me is that the relationships in part one happened quickly and not necessarily in a way that I found believable. Both the romantic interest and the friendships in part one felt nearly instantaneous and rushed, and I felt like they were missing something. This issue is remedied somewhat in parts two and three, where new and existing relationships are more carefully developed. Still, something about the pacing of the relationships from part one feels off.
Again, all in all, I liked this book, and I will definitely read book two. However, I thought it was a bit polarizing; the good aspects were really good, and the not-so-good aspects were very lacking, in my opinion. All things considered, it lands somewhere in the middle, so I give it three stars. I'm excited to read book two!
WOW. What an insane read. If you enjoy Fae/Romantasy/found family books, I highly recommend reading this one. The character development was AMAZING, I found myself loving Selene, especially towards the ending. I love it when the FMC turns into a BAD A** B*ITCH. The last 20% had so many twists and turns I did not see coming, I was about to throw my damn Kindle across the room. WHAT AN ENDING!! I was 100% left wanting more. And Erix?? I feel like he ends up becoming such an important character and there wasn't enough of him ☹️ NEED more of him and his POV in the next book. Please and Thank You😆 Can't wait to continue this series!!
*Huge Thank You to the author for the opportunity to receive an ARC for an honest review💗
I am unwell and emotionally unstable after reading this book! The urge to have book 2 in my hands right this instant is burning a hole in my heart! I am usually a huge morally grey lover but the way I was on my hands and knees loving every ounce of how sweet and perfect and loving Dayne the mmc in this book was ungodly! Also my heart hurts for the trauma and pain Selene the fmc had to endure throughout this magical journey of reading this book!
Mark my words this book will go viral and I will be screaming my lungs off about it on my booktok account from here on indefinitely! I loved Eevy’s writing and will be reading anything she writes from here on out!
If you are looking for an amazing UNIQUE, romantasy with the most loving characters. Amazing romance with SPICE and even more amazing forged friendships then this is the book for you! Don’t even get me started on the ending of this book… when I tell you there wasn’t a second reading this book when I thought I knew how this book would pan out I mean it! JUST BUY THE BOOK!!!
Thank you so much Eevy for trusting me with an arc of this beautiful story! Now I need you to give me book 2 lol!
If you love clichéd 300 year age gaps, painfully YA writing mixed with awkward spice, insta-love in the first 25%, and mmc’s that are constantly crying then this is the book for you. And I say all this as an SJM girlie so that should tell you something (*edit- also means you should take my review with a grain of salt).
Even still, I tried so hard to push through because there was an attempt at a unique plot. Unfortunately, the set up, romance, and found friendships happened so fast that I just couldn’t connect with anything. I will say, though, that it checks enough boxes that I won’t be surprised if it goes viral on booktok. Good for the author, and no judgement to anyone that likes it, but if you’re a more critical reader then don’t let the pretty cover trick you.
If you read for the vibes only then sure, I guess? There’s definitely an audience for this but it just made me grumpy.
Brb SOBBING! Eevy, how can you juts tear out my heart like that? This book is an actual masterpiece and is going to be a reread at some point, I just know it. There’s romance, drama, and fantasy, it all so perfect. The imagery in Eevy’s words is so beautiful and graceful. I literally just finished and I can’t wait for the next book, until then I’ll be recommending this one to EVERYONE I know. 🤍
Five stars for A Dance of Fates. You will love this book if you love to read: adventurous, funny, emotional books with banter. A Dance of Fates is a book about Selene who is demi-fae born for one thing and one thing only; to serve the goddess of her demands for Selene to be a temptress. You follow Selene from this lonely life into one she finds love, friends and enemies. I loved this book so much it had me laughing, crying and angry! The author did a great job at developing the characters to connect with them. I enjoyed the plot twists and the banter was 🤌🏼*chefs kiss*. I’ll definitely be reading book 2.
THIS BOOK!!!! Oh my god. If you love Romantasy, you NEED TO READ IT!!! Stellar world building? Check. HOT AF ROMANCE/SPICY SCENES??? Double check. Written by the sweetest author EVER? CHECK! If you are looking for a book that will have you giggling and feeling so much emotion you want to burst, this is the one. I cannot recommend this book enough!
This book will be my next Roman Empire for the 2024 year. I swear it. From the moment I started reading I was hooked. Now that I’ve finished I’m left in a puddle on my reading chair trying to process the emotions I’m feeling from this lovely book.
I am unwell. 🤧 I already need book two to be out because I cannot cope with how book one ends. I have loved seeing Selene truly step into her power and start shaping as the little baddie she is, but I’m now on edge waiting to see what happens as she faces the path of revenge.
I could not get enough of this book and didn’t want to set it down. I enjoyed being in the world Eevy set for us and truly felt as though I were watching it play out on a screen. 10/10 would reread this book and would recommend to anyone who loves strong fmc, fantasy with elemental magic, found families and the sort.
I feel as if my words for a review are 100% not conveying how much I adored this book.
If you’re looking for something different, something unlike the usual fae romantasy story we’ve read way too many times, THEN THIS IS THE BOOK FOR YOU. I want to thank the author for creating such a unique story with twists and turns that I did not see coming! Such fantastic character development. I really went from pitying Selene to thinking she was such a baddie; especially who she becomes towards the end of the book. I’m here for the female rage 👏🏼 I enjoyed this book so much I finished it in literally ONE day. When you fly through a book like that, you know you thoroughly enjoyed it.
To conclude: I NEED MORE
**Tysm to E.V. Asmer for letting me and my partner in crime who is also currently reading (@smuttybuddies) 😉 read and review this amazing book! 💗
This book was everything that I needed in a story. It has an original premise which is hard to come by in the fantasy genre. If I could get all my friends to read this book I would. I found all the characters to be endearing and lovable in their own unique ways.
One of my favorite quote from the FMC is "I was young the first time I realized I had been born dead." It just starts to book off to a strong start and doesn't stop. The FMC was born specifically to die when she turned 18 as a sacrifice to the Goddess to save her kingdom.
This book is full of found family, challenges, a bit of spice, and unexpected twists and turns. I love the teamwork throughout the book.
This book was just a quick and pleasant read. I can't wait for the next book to come out!
I cried. I laughed. I stared at the wall for 30 minutes after the last chapter 😭 This book is everything my fantasy loving heart could ever want! The character development is stunning and it pulled me in from a paragraph into reading. This is easily one of my top reads from 2024. The last few chapters had my jaw on the floor with so many unexpected turns. Can not wait for the next book!
Oh my goddess, I don’t even know where to begin, I’ve cried, laughed, and now don’t even know how to process the ending! I cannot wait for the next book to come out! The plot twists, the story line, world building, and character development was next level. I know this book was compared to ACOTAR but it’s on a level of its own, beautifully written.
I did not want this book to end. I was not able to guess most of the turns this story took, honestly I was only able to guess one. Fantasy, spice, fae/magic, enemies to lovers, temptress albeit an awkward one. I think this is going to be one of my favorite series!
I have never disliked a book so deeply in my life, but because I bought this book with my money, I finished it purely out of spite. First of all, misspellings and grammatical errors abound here. Hauna is misspelled as Hanna, Dayne as Dane at one point, missing periods at the end, random capitalization after quotations, like was there even an editor?
Selene is the main character, and 99% of the chapters are from her POV, yet there are like 3 short, random chapters from other characters' POV. huh?!
What timeframe is this world even set in? There are gothic castles, old wooden villages, but also bikinis and the men say "my bad." Totally pulls you out of the world with such random, unexplained modern elements.
And the writing?!? it's PAINFUL. so bad, so unoriginal. Cliches in many places.
The dialogue is cringe. Anything out of Selene's mouth begins with " 'I...' " FINISH A GOD DAMN LINE IN THE FIRST TRY. It's not cute!
Also, the plot with the Goddess makes absolutely zero sense.
And in the last 4% of the book we are introduced to the concept of mates? no, that is too important to just tack on at the end. The author should have found a way to incorporate it early on so the seed is planted in a very subtle way.
The "spice" in this book is also laughable. It's like a 7th grader who is too afraid to say "penis" wrote it. The spice scenes are written in childish innuendo - "my wetness could feel his length," that kind of nonsense.
Hard pass on continuing with this series if the next one ever comes out. This is just bad, lazy writing.
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone who wants something different from all the fantasy books that feel all the same sometimes-this is for YOU!
I don’t even know where to begin!!!! For starters, I absolutely fell in love with the FMC, Selene. Seeing her strength/character development by the end of this book left me on the EDGE of my seat NEEDING more of HER!!! I cannot wait to see how her powers develop further in this series!!!
I LOVED the Trio that was started with Selene, Gaia, and Idris-and the added male best friend Aeryn. Seeing these characters relationships develop and strengthen throughout the book also had me smiling throughout. Although some scenes that had me crying like a baby ofc😣
OFC I have to mention the spice and the FMC with her love interest- I LOVE when authors know how to bring on the TENSION! 🌶️🌶️🌶️There was so much tension and buildup prior to scenes that had me giggling and kicking my feet!!!!!!✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Another thing that I find authors sometimes find a hard time doing, but Eevy did perfectly was a perfect timeline. This book did not drag for me at all, which sometimes I have a hard time with in some fantasy books. The timelines in this book moved at the perfect pace, not too fast, not too slow!!!! This kept me captivated throughout the whole book!
LAST THING TO MENTION- I absolutely LOVED the action/scenes with enemies/creatures in this book. I felt like I was watching a movie in these scenes and was mortified at picturing some of the creatures described in said scenes, which is exactly how I think every fantasy book should have me feeling.
Ahh there’s just so much to say, I am so happy I had the opportunity to read this book, and am so amazed by this book being Eevys first book ever!❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
This book started where most book are a chunk into which made me wonder just what this book will entail. Boy was I surprised by the direction it took front the start and over and over again as you keep reading. The plot is good especially after the first big twist. From there you see her grow as a character and grow to love her and the others. The special moments that happen make me so happy and then the ending… I’m ready for book two.
Just now realizing I never updated my goodreads for when I read this last year. Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶️
I received this as an ARC, and it was a debut book. It was SO good, and it definitely needs more hype. If you like Acotar then I think you’ll like this. The ending has me excited for the next one 😀😀
Wow wow WOW!!! I feel so honored to be part of this ARC read. 💜 If you like books like ACOTAR, Throne of Glass, or The Blood & Ash series.. you are going to fall in LOVE with this book! It has wonderful world building that doesn’t drone on and you actually stay interested in navigating it! The characters are relatable and lovable. You will quickly have favorites! The friendly banter is so fun between characters and really shows how well the friendships develop. The spicy scenes are the PERFECT amount of spice; enough to leave you wanting more but not too much where you feel like you need a shower after! 🤣 The last few chapters had me on the edge of my seat! This book will make you laugh, cry, smile, and long for the next chapter! I can’t wait for book two!! 📕
Brief description: A demi-fae who escapes her original fate of death to become a not-so-great seductress. Will she follow through on her promise to a higher power for the greater good or will she take fate into her own hands after 18 years of not having the choice of her own?
This was so good! I need the second book yesterday🥲 This story and the characters are so full of potential and it could really go so many ways in the next book! I have never read anything like it before. My only little issue that made it 4.5 stars is that the parts were so significantly different from each other, it almost felt like 3 different books and every part I had to say goodbye to someone or something🙁 but I guess that also means I was really invested in every plot point and character! Overall I really recommend this book, also for people who are only getting into fantasy. The magic system and politics are really easy to understand and really fun!😊 I love all the characters and hope nothing ever happens to them🥺 Thank you to Eevy A. for giving me a free copy to review🥰
Gonna have to give this gem a 4.5⭐️!! A classic romantasy through and through
A few thoughts - I would be curious to read again just so I can perceive Dayne with the hindsight I have now Selene had me smh at several points but she grew on me. She’ll learn… I hope Aeryn being my favorite character was unexpected to say the least … but I’ll die for him Truly wished we got some pov chapters for Idris and Gaia 💔 Respectfully if I were Selene and I heard how everyone talked about Leyola I’d kms.. Leyola was clearly that girl and ofc has strong dead wife in a montage energy, as she should !!!

I seriously could not get enough of this book! It’s everything I love! It has romance and plot twists you will not see coming! This book kept me hooked on every page! Beautifully absolutely beautifully written! I felt like I was right there in the book with the characters. I need book two now!!!
Of course starting out with world building it is a bit slow until about 40% in, but once I got there I couldn’t put it down. Such a well thought out journey with romance and the drama and all the things. Can’t wait for the next one!
This book was my first ever arc read and it was a great experience and so glad this was my first. 🥲
This was a book that made me want to shirk all of my responsibilities so I could sit down and read it. I don’t want to give any spoilers, so I’ll make this simple: If you love Fae fantasy but want a unique and exciting story line, this is the book for you. When you read so many fantasy books (me 🙋🏽♀️) you start to be able to guess what’s going to happen. Eevy A kept me on the edge of my seat and surprised me throughout the story. I cannot wait for the second book and will be buying it as soon as it’s available!
This book had me in a chokehold! I couldn’t put it down. Such a wild adventure with amazing friendships and a touch of romance. The FMC is a badass while also being kind and vulnerable! I enjoyed every second. Book 2 cannot come fast enough!
This book was absolutely beautiful. The love and heartbreak I felt reading this, is everything I could ask for. The found family and growth of the characters is perfection. I CANNOT wait for the second book 💙
