This is a sociology book you will start and will not be able to set aside. It is wonderfully written, full of a wide array of cultural and historic references that either you knew and now come to learn in a different profoundly new way or you did not know and you learn and are triggered to even discover more about. The book has four parts that present evidence of the increasing presence of dialogue in our relations and societies and its powerful effects; shows that sociology can be beautiful and this way more accurate in its understanding of human relations and more useful to improve our lives, and recalls the democratic character of sociology in its origins and being a current citizens’ claim as well as a right that is finding a clear answer in dialogic sociology.
The author generously shares a wealth of knowledge that effortlessly weaves through the readers’ personal experiences. The works of classic sociologists such as Weber, Durkheim, Addams or Habermas, is given a new light as so are other works from relevant authors of all times like Nobel Laureates Eric Kandel and Rita Levi-Montalcini, feminists Fatima Mernissi and Lidia Puigvert or economists Adam Smith and Amartya Sen. His captivating approach is also the result of decades of co-creating knowledge with citizens from very different walks of life, particularly with the most vulnerable but also with the most relevant scientists in different disciplines. Every page has the power to pierce your thinking and your emotions in ways that scientific work seldom does. It is extremely educational in a way that classical literature is, with lessons in different realms of life (culture, politics, ethics, philosophy, but also in health or psychology, among others) and therefore profoundly moving. A book a recommend as an enriching pastime but specially as a generous experience.

Dialogic Society is a book for all audiences, whether you are a scientist from any field or simply a curious reader seeking a deeper, rigorous understanding of the life and society we are living in. It offers not only personal insight but also the tools to positively impact those around you through the knowledge it provides. Its usefulness and uniqueness are hard to fully grasp until you have read it. A truly enriching read.

Not a single theory of Bourdieu has led to improved outcomes in even one school. The theory of the dialogic society is generating improvements in thousands of schools. This scientific article presents data about ten of them: https://hipatiapress.com/hpjournals/i...

That's why I love this book and would recommend it not only to people interested in social sciences, but to all citizens. It is the most rigorous, sound and profound theory I know. It provides the most scientific analysis to understand society and to transform it.
