Logic is doing his best to stay focused on just living. After the death of his brother, he makes the decision to leave the streets alone. He can’t imagine his mother having to bury another son or visit him in jail, but the idea of letting his brother's killer go free is really weighing heavily on him. Especially knowing his brother’s killer was the one person he used to trust the most.
Joy has been watching Logic for months and knows that she has to have him. This man was everything. There is a certain mystery about him that pulls her in and won’t let go.
She can tell there is a reason why he walks around her local cafe like he owns the world, and thanks to her best friend Karma, Joy soon discovers just how right she is about her mystery guy.
Once Logic and Joy meet, things take off and the two are destined to be together. But, Logic's past resurfaces, causing him to make a decision that might force Joy to walk away. What's more important, revenge or love? Maybe they can handle both, only time with tell.

Hmmmm I know that I like author K.C Mills, I have read a few of her books and really enjoyed them, I would go on to say that she is becoming one of my faves... However
For some reason, I am not clicking with these characters. I am not sure why but normally within the first 5 chapters I have connected and I am in there like swimwear... but not this time.
Logic, his character is cool, down to earth but for some reason he doesn't come off as a "Boss" to me, I am not sure why but he seems like a worker and not a boss and it could simple be because we were introduced when he was simply working at the bar. (well more than that but I am not a spoiler lol) so I guess in book 2 we will get to see more of who he is as Logic to the boss.
Joy.... she is cool I didn't dislike her but I didn't connect with her either.... maybe it will click book 2.
Sigh... I am seriously trying to decide if I should continue or throw in the towel.
Man!!!! I don't even know where to start. This book was good from page one. I loved Logic and Joy relationship. Joy mother was something else and I can see that she going to be a problem. That ending was something else. K.C. Mills defiantly have a way of making her character come to life.
Not a bad read, but Joy seemed a bit thirsty to me throughout the story. Logic was laid back but the situation with why he left the game made him look weak. Seemed like he needed Gotti and Lil Chris to hold his pants up for him to make a decision. For Donte to be so easily touched by his supposed team why/how could Logic trust any of them? For the most part they betrayed him first with staying with Donte after what happened with Nard. The next one should be interesting though, hopefully Joy will have to put on some big girl panties and deal with some drama.
Yass this is the type of book I love, when you can play out the book like a movie in your head!!! This is definitely a 5 star read. Very well developed and easy to follow. I recommend read this entire series!!!
Logic did Felicia foul. Yes he’s grown and don’t have to answer to anyone. But as a courtesy, especially someone he claims to have love for, he could’ve simply called or texted and let her know plans changed.
I wish Fe had more self respect but Logic is being a bitch for no reason and right now I don’t like him.
Najah and Nova were kind of annoying and Logic should not have left Joy like that. He needed to wake her up and let her decide how she wanted to spend her time.
Karma is a real one
I’m disgusted with joys mother
Nah, Najah is dumb af. He tried to kill you and your unborn, doesn’t take care of him and you still willing to lay with him. Steups.
Honestly I’m getting sick of logic’s apologies. He need to stop coming at Joy crazy.
The way this man quickly ran back to the dangerous street life is very disappointing.
“We’re not kids, Joy. You at least owe me a conversation” I’m sorry, is this the same person who walked out without communicating. He got some nerves.
“”what the fuck do I have to lie for, are we even together?” Logic held his hand up and pointed at his chest and then Joy.” If that’s the case then why is he owed a convo. His entitled ass.
I don’t care for any of these MCs. I can’t believe Joy has no care about what he does now. She way to go with the flow for me.
Logic is all: “I have a past” and now “he really wanted to snatch Joy up. It was painfully evident, that she knew Rah, and in an intimate way.” He’s so FOS.
Rah has no fear. And he was mad disrespectful to Nova to holla at Joy in her auntie house. Hope Nova and Logic don’t take it out on Joy bc she has no control over what just went down.
Finally Joy made a smart decision bc Logic is being a hypocrite once again.
Never mind I was dead ass wrong. This girl is a goofy.
It seems like all the women in this story go stupid for men except foe Mini.
Reading someone’s journal without permission is a violation. What was Joy thinking. She lucky he took it so well.
The way Trent is being reared he’ll be in the streets in no time. Najah must love drama. She just got her ass beat by a no good street ni99a and she ready to lust after another one. Not saying anything is wrong with Gotti because I like him but still.
Nova’s logic is so fucking illogical. These women are riding my patience to the ends of the earth.
For 80% of the book I felt like I was reading about females making dumb decisions for buddy and cocky ass males. Surprisingly by the end I like all the couples. This story kept me engaged even if I disagreed with the actions a large percentage of the time.
I have read just about all of K.C. Mills books and then stumbled on this 10 year old gem. I can tell it was one of her first works with the grammatical errors, but boy, was it good. I know hee writing has changed, but she did the bad boy dope boy/thug but still love family and love beautifully. Logic was all Alpha, but nit an asshole and sweet with it. And Joy loved herself some Logic! That Rah part was crazy and I didn't see any of that coming. Loved Ms. Mini, Gotti, Luther, and ever Nah and Nova grewGetting, and I am glad of how and what they grew into. Spend an entire Saturday until 3 am to finish. It was just that good. So, now Sunday I have to finish those Saturday chores.🤣 Highly recommend!
From the very beginning Joy wanted Logic. It took her bestie Karma to give her a nudge but they got there! Najah and Gotti finally got it together as well as Karma, Landon, Nova and Nate along with Mama Mini and Luther! Everyone ended on a great note and all the obstacles were finally removed! Joy's parents were a trip and had to be removed from her life because they didn't know boundaries or love! Her mama was really a trip! I loved how everone generally loved one another even when issues arose the women stuck by their men! It was a beautiful read!
I really enjoyed this story. And I knew from the subtle stares in the restaurant that Logic And joy were meant to be. I love all the couples and their stories were really cute. Joy's mom and Rah were trash. Logic and Gotti took care of all the snakes. And everybody got their happy ending as a family. Great story you won't be disappointed it's definitely a 5 star read.
I'm loving joy and logic as a couple. I also love karma crazy self. She really has her girl's back. I think logic was really trying to stay out of the streets but it just kept calling him. I glad donte and fez where handled, and Joy's mom know she was dirty for that. Can't wait to see what happens next.
I really wish we got to see more of Logics love Jones poetry, I feel like it was dropped after the beginning of the book and I was really looking forward to it. It was a good story, I can definitely see the improvement in writing style although the word Hoe is still prominent.
I loved Logic and the way he carried his self. Joy was a beautiful person but her family was trash. Logic family meant everything to him. Joy mother was a piece of crap to think it was okay with what she had done. I’m so glad she cut them off and build her life on family and love.
What a man, what a mighty good man! I loved everything about him. I wasn’t too happy he went back to the streets, but he was smart and handled his business. Joy was loyal and stood with her man. There were a lot of characters and sub plots but it all seemed to work. A good proofreader would have helped but the story held my interest to the end!
Never read a ebook with so many errors.. wanted to be a reader not an editor. If a book is over 300 pages it should not have this many errors. I did enjoy the story but I don’t think I will read a more ebooks on KU by this author. Maybe just stick to audiobooks.
I really do love KC’s writing so that keeps me coming back but my feedback remains the same, this book needs good editing and proofreading, there were too many typos, misspelled words, wrong words and formatting errors.
Book was great I loved Logic & Joy enjoyed story. I hate the things they had to go through but it gets into what I needed to be in the email. I love how everyone had a happy ending include in the mom.
Gotti and Logic are what men should be like know how to handle your woman but still respect I'm not mad about it this was a very well written story and I do like how everyone characters got an ending. I love K.C. Mills and can't wait to read more.
This story was not what I thought it would be. That mama and daddy(especially that mama) was just trifling. Glad Joy had Karma and she met Logic. It was a cute story. The narration was great.
Poor Joy going over to Logics mother house for dinner has turned into a stand off, now Nova and Logic is both upset with her but for different reasons...
I’m never disappointed with a KC read. I loved this story. It wasn’t your typical read or predictable. Poor Joy gone be popping babies out every 2 years.
This was a pretty solid read for me. It was interesting enough to hold my attention and really well written. There was underlying conflict that built in such a subtle way, I was not bombarded with inauthentic or "over the top" drama. Everything was really believable and for me that's always a plus. The characters were so relatable that I became sucked in and just wanted to learn more about them. It really gets boring for someone who reads daily, to read about the same plots and subplots in this genre. K.C. Mills finds a way to reinvent the "typical" urban novel involving drugs, d-boys and sex in a way that's never boring. Over the past few months I have found myself reading more of this author's work and she has become one of my "go to authors". What does that mean? It simply means that I'm now on the look out for her new releases and I purchase or download them immediately without reading the synopsis or reading a sample(I no longer need to). I have yet to be disappointed, so not only would I recommend this novel, I'd recommend all of her others works as well.
It took me a minute to warm up to Logic and Joy's relationship. I'm not sure why because normally I fall completely in love with KC Mills characters. However once I jumped all the way in I was good. As always the writing was stellar and the fact that Logic genuinely tried to give up the street life to appease his family and friends was commendable. I see that we are in store for a juicy part 2. I love Karma as Joys best friend. Every girl needs a friend like this when you take life too seriously and become afraid to love like Joy. I can't wait to see what's next for this cast of characters. All I can say is Joys mama has an old fashioned butt whooping with her name on it and it will be well deserved. Kudos Ms. Mills please don't make us wait too long for part 2.
I was immediately drawn into the story. It had me from page one. Joy will be the character to annoy me. She's the type to over analyze and keep secrets. Karma seems like the fun one. I like Logic but he needs to clean out his closet before he starts a relationship with Joy. He's real though. I like how he handled her parents. I'm feeling the story and looks like it'll be a good one. I'm about to get into part 2 right now.
I mean K.C. never disappoints me! That Logic is Everything I hope he and Joy make it through the bs bc I know it's coming...Also how trifling can your mother be to sleep with you dude WOW!...I don't like Rah already and now he knows where Logic mother stays isn't good...I'm so ready for party 2
OMG! This was like whoa!!!! I knew all the dots would connect but KC Mills threw some surprising twists at us. So Logic is the man to see for real in part 2! Rah who? Cedric who? Myesha who? Keisha who? Yes, all those "whos" need to know that it's all about Logic and Joy
