# French graphic novel #
I liked it but was disappointed at the same time.
So when I first heard about this graphic novel and after reading the first page, I was super excited.
Funérailles, a scarred man, destroyer of civilization, ending of mankind, fighting with half a sword and seeing Death from arm length ! I mean, it’s so freaking cool.
And then I get a full volume of his childhood .... less epic.
It was still interesting and engaging but I was convinced that the tale of his childhood would only be a part of the book, not all of it. Even more disappointing when I saw that the second volume is still about his teenage years...
I want to see him grown, and hurt and vengeful like right NOW, and not by volume 5.
My other complain would be about the world building. As it is said in French « ça n’a ni queue ni tête » (it doesn’t make any fucking sense).
- You have soldiers on horses fighting with swords but also Cyclopes filming for the tv with their lonely eyeball.
- You have churches and powerful families but also Valhalla and sorcery.
- They are so advanced scientifically that they can sew you a functional third arm in a dumpster but they have a quota of one child per couple.
-There are immortals dropping from the sky offering VHS and perfume, but they still travel on foot.
I think there is a point when lots of imagination becomes TOO much and we are way beyond it in Funérailles .
