Her workshops have been well attended in the suburban Detroit area of Michigan as well as in tropical Key Largo, Florida. The Sign Baby Sign program includes 90 baby signs, the manual alphabet and manual numbers 1-20. All of the signs are standardized American Sign Language (ASL) signs. This is an important feature because many other programs teaching baby sign "invent" gestures and signs that are not from a standardized language. We believe that the adult signer should use true signs that may be transferable to others who know ASL. The baby may not be able to sign exactly as the adult does at first, but with time, he will advance through maturation to the true sign. In the meantime, the adult accepts the baby's version, giving him the actual ASL sign as a model. It is simply the best method for establishing the correct ASL signs. As a bonus, this book includes a nine page section of Nursery Rhymes with suggested signed words as well as a signing growth chart for Baby's Journal Record.
