Let’s get real ladies! Whether voluntarily or involuntarily, managing money is a reality that we all (especially as women) will face at some point in life; we might as well do it right!
This book will be your go-to guide for years to come. Know why? Because whether you’re a busy wife, single mother, young professional, a tad more seasoned gal or somewhere in between, it tackles the fears, struggles and questions hundreds of women have asked Patrice over her last decade of helping women get out of debt, rebuild their credit and define their passions. And it’s all done in her down-to-earth, practical and sassy (when necessary) tone.
The book’s sections are smartly built around the format of Patrice’s highly acclaimed women’s coaching program, The Mindset + Money Master Class and represent her entire philosophy about personal finance success. After all, it’s what got the Money Maven out of her own $18,000 of credit card debt! Readers are led through practical money lessons and exercises that will help them create wealthy habits, earn more money using their gifts, manage their money wisely and get comfortable having uncomfortable conversations around money.
[Disclaimer: The author gave me a free copy of this book to review.]
There is so much more in this book than just your basic personal finance info. It's a comprehensive manual that addresses all stages of your life, written in a conversational, down-to-earth style. The author rapid-fires questions at you and delivers plenty of tough love, for example "There's no trying to create wealthy habits. You're either doing it or not doing it."
A constant theme is that you need to get in touch with your own "financial blueprint" which Ms. Washington describes as the collection of your beliefs, ideals, thoughts, and actions about money. However, she does not allow you to wallow in your financial past; instead she aims to teach you how to change your inner dialog and behavioral patterns to move your life in a positive direction.
The book covers a wide range of topics for all life stages, from opening a bank account to financing your children's education. Topics that you wouldn't expect to find in a personal finance book include how to avoid workplace drama, develop your personal brand, and invest in your professional development without spending a fortune.
The author offers glimpses into her own personal experiences, both positive and negative, and shares anecdotes from the many women clients she has counseled and coached. This helps bring the advice to life for the reader.
The text is a bit dense but is broken up with crisp sound bites of "real talk," affirmations, and savings tips.
There's something for nearly every woman to learn in this cradle-to-grave personal finance bible!
It's a great starter book for women wanting to gain control of their personal finances. If you are already versed in this subject then it's just a refresher. I liked how she put a positive spin to things like changing emergency fund into opportunity fund. She was criticize for doing this but I understand where's she's coming from.
great, practical advice with a lot of good information breaking down what personal finance means, how to recognize limiting beliefs, ways to get out of debt, and save money.
This is a semi- structured guide for money management. I was immediately impressed by the first 10 pages..I wanted to call Patrice and ask her to write a similar guide for my 16 y.o. Niece! Her guides are specific and planful. I'm reminded of the saying "If you don't know where you're going, it doesn't matter how you get there". The book acts as a guide in assisting you to specify WHEREyou want to be AND what steps you need to take from creating wealthy habits, earning more money, managing money, to relationships and money. I won this book from Goodreads..and Patrice, I'm passing it to my daughter RIGHT NOW. I'll be buying another for my teen niece to start her money control process! Thanks Patrice &Goodreads!
This was a great book for financial newbies. It goes over everything from how to take control of your own finances to how to get spouses and children on board. Definitely recommend this for anyone who is having financial difficulty.
Very easy to read. Good information for women starting out. Bare in mind that is American so if you are Australian like me, some things won't be applicable to you.
