Intense, hard to put down... imagined myself as captain marvel more than once... wanted to hug everyone who got hurt/lost someone.

Another one where the author's give you the feeling of being in the middle of everything.
👏

Would recommend these for not just kids (these books would be a good way to get them interested in history), all ages would enjoy methinks.

It's supposed to be YA but really I think the audience would be under 12's and even then, the author bungles many simple aspects of the Pearl Harbor attack that even basic searching would reveal. It's labored at almost all points and overcooked, yet raw at the same time. It feels like a video game mixed with choose your own adventure style story books and suffers for being all these things but none of them well.

Throw in obligatory political correctness masquerading as a small lesson in pre Civil Rights era America and a really unneeded German spy family subplot that is just bizarre, and you've got not a perfect storm but a perfect mess.

As a side note, I listened to this and it was narrated by robot. That's right, AI narration. And it SUCKED. What a disgrace and insult to listeners. Final nail in the coffin.

Pearl Harbour can be a very, tough subject and in this book they have obviously made it tough and exciting for the reader.
