Long Trip Home takes you on a journey. Full of emotion, challenges, and adventure!
LTH is such a fun story. In short it is a story about an everyday hard working guy named Troy. Troy is married (to the bosses daughter) and has two kids. Considered by most to be a good life. Troy travels internationally for work, spending more time on a plane than at home.
On one of the first legs of a long trip home, Troy’s plane is forced to land at an obscure airport in the middle of nowhere in the Middle East. Troy and all the other passengers will be stranded for at least 24 hours. One of only two Americans on board this troubled flight, Troy is belittled into hanging out with the other, Isabelle. She is a very aggressive, strong willed, won't take no for an answer type of woman. At first it was about killing time in a strange country, then as they learned more about one another a friendship started to form.
Immediately Troy felt out of place around her, he was not in control. Isabelle is a hot spark, she is always comfortable being in control and lives for adventure. As a result of the 24 hours they spend together, despite their differing personalities, Troy and Isabelle become friends.
What Troy soon finds out about Isabelle challenges him to his core.

Long Trip Home by Dutch Jones is a first reads win and I am giving my honest opinion. Troy was one of two Americans on a Mideast flight. Troy was returning home from a grueling road trip. A mishap with his assigned seat left him in first class next to a sleeping woman. The plane had a loud explosion and lost an engine. They were forced to land in a very small airport that only had 3 employees, one of whom was driving an antique firetruck. This made the 6th country Troy had visited. The woman's name was Isabella, Izy for short. She called him and asked him to let her buy him dinner. They rode in the firetruck. They had a marvelous time, drinking eating and dancing. Then they talked the night away until they saw Mohammod returning for them. on the way back they passed a burned out village where all the young boys were rounded up the male adults killed and the village set ablaze. Izy asks Troy if he'll be her best friend. They exchange phone numbers and email addresses. When the plane landed they went to get something to eat. Troy told her he had two kids, his wife's name was April and she wanted a trial seperation. April's father was Troy's boss, the owner of the company and Troy felt his father-in-law. didn't like him. Before the plane landed in London, Izy told Troy she had a confession to make. She was a famous rock star and she was trying to fly incognito. Troy had a hard time believing her until she showed him pictures. Then he remembered his kids liked her especially his daughter Maggie.
Long Trip Home was a wonderful read to experience. The story gets you right from the beginning. Troy is a businessman, which his father-in-law is his boss, he tends to be away from home more than he would like. He has two kids, which he has unconditional love for. One trip on his way back home he meets a lady by the name of Isabella, which comes short for Izy. Troy and Izy's relationship becomes an amazing friendship, even after they meet. The ending was something I wasn't thinking would come, so it was definitely a surprise. I don't want to give away the whole book, but I will tell ya it is something you will want to read, especially if you love romance novels. I hope Dutch Jones brings out another novel, I really enjoyed it... Come on I want more, ha!
I received this book through Goodreads First Reads in return for an honest review.
The storyline of Long Trip Home is good. There are some things in the story that are a bit hard to believe, but I love fairytales and am a sucker for happily ever after endings that common sense tells you just aren't going to happen so after deliberating with myself between four and five stars I opted for five. There are some grammar issues in the book, however when you get busy reading you tend to just automatically correct them in your head as you go.
I would recommend this book to anyone 16 and over who likes a fun read.

After-read thoughts: Indeed, Long trip home tells the story of one unusal friendship - between people so unlikly to grow attached to each other; born in the most uncommon circumstances and going through various unusual obstacles in order to bloom. And yet, Izy, a world famous rockstar, and Troy, the company worker manage to forge this friendship. For the first half of the book, I was so happy reading it, it was invigorating. It was great; not that much the exact events, but how in result both Izy and Troy opened to each other, how their trust deepened and what effects their relationship had on their relations with other people (for example how Troy bettered his friendship with Eddie, that he admitted to be bit superficial before). It was rather cute observing those two spending long hours on the phone chatting like students and relying on each other - just insted of tomorrow's exam they were talking about the next big deal or international gig. Troy's kids were awesome, and I ended up really enjoying the chapters with them. Around the middle of the book, I was bursting with exhiliration! I felt like I've found a real gem - a book about the friendship between a man and a woman, a topic that seems so hard to find in novels! And so I felt dissappoined to say the least when the kiss happened and even more when the characters made the silent confessions that even from the first day they felt they wanted to be more than friends. Don't get me worng - I coumd easily cheer for a couple like Izy and Troy's. But I wasn't exactly thrilled with this plot development - I felt that those two indeed needed true friends more than anything. Of course, friendship blooming into love is a winderful thing (one of the best, actually) but still I felt cheated and even robbed in a way. And yet, the primary subject of the book rests the friendship between both characters and I think it is enough for it to stand out among the other contemporary romance novels and to provide something different and refreshing. In terms of the writing style, I wish it was bit more eloquent - and definitely with less "wows", "cools" and exclamation points (and instead more synonyms, metaphors - this kind of stuff) . A quick glance over those short sentences would make me estimate that the readibility score of this text is lower than its topic would suppose. It was a neat and fast read, but as a reader who seeks to enjoy the words written as much as the plot at hand, I thought the writing could be tad better executed. I don't think it would've hinder the reading speed, just the contrary - I'd say it would provoke more interest. Overall, I gave Long Trip Home 4 stars.
I just finished Long Trip Home, by Dutch Jones. Very easy to read, kept my interest until the great at ending! I already started his next book. Looking forward to more. Very good author.
Long Trip Home by Dutch Jones ****5 Stars!**** Reviewed by Author Holly Newhouse for Eternal Book Reviews
This book is everything the author, Dutch Jones, promised it would be. It is emotional, provocative and entertaining, not to mention a breath of fresh air! It isn't always easy for an author to keep and hold this reviewer within the pages of their book from beginning to end and keep me wanting so much more, but this author has done just that. It began with the simple but engaging cover design that intrigued me right from the moment I saw it, enough to decide to read the book without reading the description first. I read the description after I finished the book to be more objective.
The story line has a smooth and even flow even as it speeds up and slows down in certain areas which only enhances it and its readability. It was brilliantly done and not easy for an author to accomplish. The plot was extremely well thought out and executed in such as way as to be intensely engaging. The character development for both the protagonist and antagonist was magnificent giving just enough information to use the imagination and not so much as to be wordy or detract from a great story line. Author Dutch Jones writes the characters, scenes, settings and the dialogue to be realistic and yet the reader finds himself or herself stop feeling like they are reading a book and instead are watching a beloved movie in their mind.
Author Dutch Jones is a magnificent storyteller within the genre of contemporary romance. I would say his wonderful gift of writing is on par with authors such as Nora Roberts, Nicholas Sparks, and even Danielle Steele. This author can give no higher compliment than that.
After reading the book, I reviewed the author's description of the book and not only found it to be informative but engaging as well as perfectly written and I would not change a thing. I highly recommend this book to all romance readers, not to just those in the contemporary romance genre.

First, I have to say I love the layout of the story. I began feeling sorry for Troy and his efforts to get home to his children and his wife, in an effort to save his marriage. Troy seems to be the guy that life happens to. His boss/father-in-law runs the parts of his life his wife doesn't have control of. He truly loves his children and wishes he could spend more time with them, but life gets in the way. It all begins with the horrendous plane ride- his flight is delayed, he almost sleeps through boarding call, his seat is taken, he is moved to first class but has to sit beside a rude woman wrapped head to toe, and then the engine blows leading to an emergency landing. The book really takes off from there! There are twists and turns I was not expecting, surprises all along the way. I hope there is a sequel, I don't know how it could match the intensity of this book, but if there is a way it would be a wonderful continuation of the story for Troy and his family. I will definitely recommend this book to my family and friends looking for a good read. Just when life seems to kick you and things may seem their darkest, there may be a silver lining, maybe. I have to give this book five stars! I was given the chance to read Long Trip Home by Dutch Jones, by inkspand, in exchange for an honest review.
Although this book was different from those I usually read, I thoroughly enjoyed it and loved the ending! Thanks Goodreads for awarding me a copy and thank you, Dutch Jones, for such a great book.
The main character Troy is a sales representative and is sort of nerdy. He is married to the boss’ daughter and what started out as a happy marriage is now dull routine. His boss keeps him on the road and on one trip, he meets a mysterious woman. They become friendly and find that they can really talk and listen to each other. He finds out that she is a well-known rock star who doesn’t have many friends. She arranges their flights and puts them in first class where Troy has never flown before. He is on the West Coast for business and has dinner with Izy. He sings a song with her and she secretly records it. This becomes a number one hit but Izy won't say who the mysterious man is. They realize their friendship has progressed beyond just friends and Troy does not want to lose his family. Then he finds out his wife is cheating on him and he doesn’t feel so bad about his friendship with Izy.
Long Trip Home is a book that pulls you in from the get go. Izy and Troy (the main characters) are captivating and draw the readers to them, both so different and leading completely opposite lives there odd yet strangely perfect relationship constantly leaves the reader wondering, "What next"? You want to route for both of them and desire that they will somehow become more. I will not spoil the ending but only say I did not expect it and it was so much better than my imagination envisioned. Dutch Jones has written a wonderfully crafted novel in conjunction with a beautiful fated story that I know ANY reader will love, enjoy and leave you wanting more. I can't wait to read Dutch Jones next novel and see great things happening with "Long Trip Home"
Winning this book from Goodreads Giveaways, I committed to providing an honest review. I've been putting it off... and off. I wish I could find something - anything - I liked about this book, because it feels to me as if the other reviewers could not have possibly read the same book as I did. I feel guilty for not liking it since it was a giveaway win, almost as if I should apologize for my review.
It was a struggle to get through. I found it to be completely amateurish, as if written by someone who has never written anything previously. The characters were stereotypical and uninteresting. I never cared about the characters or the storyline. Not my cup of tea, but apparently others liked it. Just not readers like me.
I had never read a book written by Dutch Jones until I got Long Trip Home. What an enjoyable read! The 2 main characters in this book, Troy and Isabelle, meet by chance. They are very different people leading very different lives, but they get to know each other and become good friends. Their story takes us on the journey as they try to figure out how to live their normal lives while remaining friends. These 2 characters are very likable and I enjoyed spending time with them! I was sad when I finished the book because I want to see what happens to them next! Is there a sequel planned? Dutch Jones' characters rock!
I got this book from a Goodreads giveaway, I was surprised on how fast I read it. It took me about 12 hours to read all together. I would put it down and I kept thinking about Troy and Izy, what was going to happen next. I would go back to it and read a few more chapters. I wasn't completely in love with the friendship that Troy and Izy had, I kept thinking of the movie 28 days with Sandra Bullock. I was able to foresee what was going to happen, but I still enjoyed the book. And it read really fast.
It took me quite a while to get into the writing style of this book. It felt at times patchy and not very cohesive. That being said, I really enjoyed the story premise and became very attached to both Troy and Izy. The sign of a good story teller. I just felt some of the writting could have used tightening up.

I couldn't wait to finish this book because I did not like it at all. The writing seemed childish and seemed to jump all over the place. The plot as well as the characters weren't believable and this book was not listed as a fantasy or fairy tale. No adult would act like any of the protagonists in Long Trip Home. This book is better suited for a tween than for an adult. How many times can a grown man say "cool"? The book left me cold.
A goodreads Giveaway. This was a short book by an author I did not know, I was not sure what to expect. Dutch Jones is an amazing writer If you only read one new writer this year make it this one. The story was amazing you could really feel the struggles of the main character. I went through the whole range of emotions while reading this in 2 days. I cannot wait to read more by Dutch..
WOW!! This is one of those that you can't put down. "Yvonne's" review was spot on as are all the 4+ Star reviews. Great job and kudos to Dutch Jones. I won this great book on GoodReads and like I do with most my wins I will be paying it forward by giving my win either to a friend or library to enjoy.
I won this book on goodreads! I wasn't sure I would get into this book, I gave it a shot! It was a pretty good book! I would definitely read more by Dutch Jones. Great characters and perfect story line. The ONLY thing I wanted was MORE at the end, I wanted to read how Izy and Troy end or begin in their new life. Great book!
I received a free copy of this book for the Goodreads First Reads Program in exchange for an honest review. Long Trip Home was a fun adventure with interesting characters and great writing. I loved the ending!
Long Trip Home left me wanting more of Troy and Lizzy. Some friendships between male and female don't always end like this. I really enjoyed this book immensely and would recommend if you love spare of the moment antics that two people share and how they meet is a real treat!
This book immediately starts you on its fast paced story. I really enjoyed the authors writing style and the conveyance of each of the characters perspectives. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and felt energized by the story when I finished. I want there to be another book to continue the story!

If you don't have a lot of time, don't pick up this book. It kept me awake to find out what happens next. It is a good story. When it ends, you want it to keep going. I never read a Dutch Jones book but this won't be my last.
