So I Walk contains more than forty enchanting poems and stories that introduce new pilgrims and reconnect old pilgrims to the transformational journey that is the Camino de Santiago. So I Walk is part history lesson that explores significant Camino events and figures; it is part legend and myth record as it tackles and shares several of the more entertaining tales relating to the Camino; and it is part travelogue that spends more time focused on the emotional and spiritual places that pilgrims visit than it does on the physical locations they pass through. This book also contains a few treats like pilgrim toasts and pilgrim hiking songs. So I Walk is a spellbinding odyssey that will inspire Camino rookies and veterans alike to view the Camino and their accomplishment under bright new lights. Enjoy. Buen Camino!
If you've walked the Way of St. James and thought to yourself, "What happened to that person I was on the Camino? I really liked that person." THIS BOOK will bring you back. The author's enthusiasm and joy is contagious. And it's so unlike any other book about the Camino that I've read. It's not a memoir but there is some of that. And it's not strictly a poetry book though the bulk of it undeniably is poetry, much of which I thought was terrific. The author somehow managed to teach me a lot of Camino history in an unobtrusive, almost sneaky way. Loved it!
I believe this is a self-published book so it was not vetted through the regular editing channels. The writing is mediocre and the legends and history included could really be found through a Google search. If you love everything Spain, pick it up. If you don’t, I don’t recommend it.
