How To Improve Your Chops Without Playing A Note takes a physical therapy approach music performance, developing key musculature without your instrument. As applied to brass and wind instruments, this involves specialized development of the embouchure, the part of a wind player's lips and face that touch the instrument. Using techniques that have traditionally been applied to athletic performance, the author describes muscle building exercises designed specifically for the embouchure. This approach has several advantages, and has been shown to be tremendously beneficial to players at all levels. In particular, it allows players to maintain and improve muscle tone, even at times when they are unable to practice their instrument. Additionally, the approach allows for muscle development that cannot be achieved while playing, yet has the potential to dramatically improve performance.
Simple book hoping it gives the results it suggests
A short book that sets out in detail a simple exercise that would strengthen the muscles used in playing a brass instrument. I'm looking forward to trying this over the next few weeks and to the results that should come
A very short readable book on a exercise to improve your embouchere to play a trumpet. I not sure what to give as a rating on this book. The reason I gave three stars is that I am just starting to use this method of improving my embouchere. I am hoping that it improves the center of my embouchere so that blowing from low to high notes would be easier and I would see improvement. Perhaps I'm just starting to still learn the sytem to use it. Right now it seems to build up the corners of my mouth and time will tell if the aperture of the embouchere improves. Three stars and perhaps more to come. Stay tuned.
