After their passionate weekend at the Cunningham estate, Lily and Calder have decided to take their relationship to the next level. But love in the real world isn't all fun and games--especially when it becomes clear that Calder still harbors his share of secrets.

When Calder suddenly suggests they slow things down, Lily knows something is seriously wrong--and she's not afraid to pull out the big guns. She makes Calder a proposal he can't refuse: an ongoing match of Truth or Dare that she hopes will bring them closer together.

But as the contest increases in intensity, so do the stakes, and suddenly Lily and Calder have to face the question they've both been avoiding: what sort of relationship do they have when they strip away all the games?

5 'truth and dare' Stars

This 2nd book of this series is literally a Truth or Dare and I loved it!
Truth... Calder and Lily can't stay away from each other.
Dare...They will overcome the 'tsunami' coming their way and will have their HEA.

I loved this 2nd book as much as I did with book 1. In book 2 Calder will deal with the destruction of his fortune, his name and the name of his father and his life. Everything he had will crumble under his feet. We will see how Lily is going to cope with all this and how is this going to affect their affair.

This book two preserved all the hotness, the games and fun of book 1. Even though they aren't living anymore in that magical mansion of his...they will try to preserve their magical bubble of love, fun and tease.
Nothing will be easy for these two, but they will overcome the difficulties and their love will survive.

What I liked more from this book is that the hotness and erotic part it wasn't overshadowed by the drama...sex is their escape their moment of freedom and it remains a strong element of their story.

The only critic I have is about the editing...there were some typing problems in my copy.

For the rest this book was amazing, I really loved this series.

Totally recommend it!

My Casting:

description

What I love most about Truth or Dare is it’s not just a hot sexy, erotic read… it actually has a STORY to it. I found the story between Lilly and Calder to be sweet; the two were emotionally invested into one another but gosh it was also sexy as hell. Who knew a child’s game like Truth or Dare could be so sizzling hot!

Truth or Dare is the second book in the His Wicked Games series by Ember Casey. I am a giant fan of the first book. His Wicked Games is where we met Lilly, an average girl who will do anything to save the nonprofit Center she works at with her father. Then there is Calder, the infamous bad-boy son of a billionaire who is trying to save his family’s estate with the mess his father left behind after his death. The two spend an EXTREMELY SEXY weekend together where eventually some feelings developed between Lilly & Calder.

description

Truth or Dare picks up a few weeks after their weekend and the two begin to try to start up a relationship or at least date. There isn’t AS MUCH sex as His Wicked Games but it’s still extremely sexy and fun. Ember is an absolute genius for how she uses the game Truth or Dare in the book; I was laughing out loud at some of the dares they gave each other and when the truths were used it was the only time both Lilly and Calder could be honest with one another.

There is a lot of back and forth between the two about their relationship. Calder was hot and cold when it came to dating Lilly because of the pressure and media attention he was under. Even at the very end they both never spoke of what they wanted or were thinking. At times it drove me absolutely crazy; I needed Lilly to step up just because Calder was going through so much. My only real complaint is not an epilogue. I really hope this means their story will continue because I would love to see where Lilly and Calder end up now and hopefully Calder can get his life fully on track. There is no cliff hanger but I would love more!

I loved both books in the series a lot but found Truth or Dare to really step it up and have a really great emotional story as well as hot steamy sex. I usually tend to give 5 stars to books that are really emotional that take me to a new place but honestly, with a series like His Wicked Games I found it to be one of the best erotic books I have read. Not every 5 star has to be extremely emotional and Truth or Dare is a 5 star EROTIC book. It was written wonderfully and had a great story, plus hot sex! What could be better?

I give Truth or Dare (His Wicked Games #2) 4.5 Stars.

Truth or Dare by Ember Casey

4 stars!

Calder, Calder, Calder, how I have missed you!! This book is the sequel to His Wicked Games and picks up 3 weeks after the conclusion of that book. Lily is back at work and Calder is off dealing with whatever it is he is dealing with (he is still being secretive).

Now outside of the estate will Calder and Lily be able to have a “normal” relationship? Despite all the secrets that Calder holds will Lily be able to discover the true “Calder Cunningham,” what will Lily have to do to peek at the cards that he holds so tightly to his chest. The secrets are not all one sided though…Lily is still reluctant to tell her father who the “new man” is in her life. She fears that he will not be accepted because of what happened with the pledges when the Cunningham Estate went to the wall.

The press are still out in force trying to get the scoop on what has happened. The rumour mill is in overdrive and Calder’s name is being sullied left, right and centre. Lily cannot defend him as people are still unaware of their relationship. Lily also feels that she still doesn’t know anything about Calder, she therefore plays him at his own game and starts a game of “Truth or Dare” to try and get him to open up and maybe just maybe she can shed some light on this mysterious man.

The games were a hoot!! Initially Calder does not play along and plays safe but eventually they open up to each other and Ember writes some seriously smoking scenes, who knew that a game of Truth or Dare could be so highly amusing, stimulating and seriously hot! They are both playing hardball during this book and it really makes for some highly entertaining reading.

When Calder “forgets” about what is going on with regards to his father and the estate, we get glimpses of the true Calder and he is a man that you cannot help but fall in love with. He has the weight of the world on his shoulders, but those little sneak peeks you get make you melt.

“But please, I don’t want to drag you into this. You are – you are the only thing keeping me together. The one perfect, beautiful thing in my life right now. The only thing set apart from all this bullshit. I need that, please, Lily, I need that. I need you.”

Like the first book, I was seriously rooting for this couple all the way through. I felt that they brought out the best in each other and truly deserved happiness, together! Ember Casey once again takes you on a journey that you don’t want to finish and the kindle was firmly gripped in my hands until the end, I could not put it down. I wanted to see if they got the HEA they so richly deserved and thoroughly enjoyed the ride to the end.

For a new author, Ember has a great way of you drawing you in, this book will make you laugh and cry, whilst taking you down a road full of plot twists and turns, angst, drama, love, romance and smexy times. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and cannot wait to see what comes next from this author.

Lily and Calder are back- and I am one happy lady. If you read Wicked Games, the first in the series, you will absolutely love this second book.

It opens with Lily- three weeks after the games at Calder's estate. As a reader, I find myself wondering, will Calder and Lily have a relationship outside of the manor and its wicked ways?

Plenty of obstacles stand in their way- including Calder and his inability to trust; as well as Lily's issue with keeping their relationship a secret from her own father.

Dating outside of the manor, does come easily. They have a lot in common and never seem bored. Again I am lured in under Ember's writing spell.

"I am comforted by the heat of his fingers through my dress, a whisper of the touch in the noise in this room."

"I might not belong with these people, but I belong with him."

Somehow they must fight through everything that is working against them. And might I say they have quite a bit working against them. But they have to work together and that seems to come difficult to Calder, who has basically been a playboy up until this point.

So Lily comes up with a plan, another game so to speak- Truth or Dare. She is trying to kill two birds with one stone- get to know the elusive Calder Cunningham, while also trying to seduce him.

"Lily, by the end of tonight, I'm going to be your everything."
My everything, my body trembles at the idea."

Now do you see why Calder is one of my book boyfriends? At certain points- when Calder doesn't have the burden of his father weighing on his shoulders- he becomes that sweet, alpha male hero I love.

I definitely recommend this book- but you need to read His Wicked Games first- you won't regret it! It's super steamy.

Truth or Dare is a great continuation of Ember's first work.

And it leaves you wanting more Lily and Calder!

(hint- Ember, more Lily and Calder PLEASE)

I loved the first book, but I felt they spent too much time denying feelings and running from each other. In the first book they're clearly a different couple than most tales, in this, they try to go for the normal couple thing, and it doesn't work for me or them.
I'm not saying I hated this, but I didn't love it. I loved the last five percent because it was a good version of truth or dare, not the silly truths he gave her and the dares asked of him. It's mainly all about Calder and his drop from riches to poor, and his struggle to become a new man and not wanting to bring her down. Really all her problems are created in her head, and all of his are created by him punching her away for her safety. Booooooooo

This book had good moments and good premise but the gaslighting and trying to force the other to have sex even though they don’t want to makes it heavy to read.

The best way to describe my point: When he says he doesn’t want to have sex to get to know each other better, she keeps trying to “break” him because she wants to sleep with him, which is uncomfortable AF, but then when she says she doesn’t want him to fuck her on top of her car, in a parking lot, in plain sight, he gets upset at the “rejection” and she feels bad about it and tries to make up for his bad mood as if it was her fault.

Truth or Dare absolutely became one of my new favorite books! The chemistry between Calder and Lily is palpable. Their banter back and forth constantly made me smile.

The weekend Lily spent at Calder's estate changed her. It made her realize some things about herself and she left feeling more alive than she ever had. Calder liberated her in ways she never saw coming.

"My time at his estate changed me. Calder challenged me. He made me feel wilder, stronger, and more alive than I've ever felt before. I don't want to go back to being "ordinary" me again.

Calder has to adjust to his new life, the life of an ordinary man, rather than the billionaire from a prestigious family that he had been his whole life. He was forced to sell almost all of his belongings, his childhood home, and start over. When the media catches on to the fall of the Cunningham fortune they hound, harass, and wildly speculate as to the root of their demise. All Lily wants to do is be there for him, but Calder doesn't want her to have any part of it. She's the one thing he has left and he wants her and his family/financial problems as separated as he can keep them.

"I know you're trying to help," he says. "But please, I don't want to drag you into this. You are - you are the one thing keeping me together. The one perfect, beautiful thing in my life right now. The only thing set apart from all this bullshit. I need that. Please, Lily, I need that. I need you."

Lily knows Calder is keeping secrets. She knows he's still trying to figure out all the financial mess left behind by his father. Even still, he's making her head spin pulling away and then acting like he can't be close enough. She doesn't want to add to his problems but there is more to what's going on between them then just physical chemistry and her heart is on the line. Lily gets upset with herself for letting herself feel too much too fast, but when it comes to Calder, her heart and her body have a mind of their own. She begins a little cat and mouse game of Truth or Dare to keep them connected when she is so afraid things falling apart.

"I'm an idiot. After my last disaster of a relationship, I promised myself that I'd take things slowly in the future. I promised myself that I wouldn't let my emotions race ahead of my common sense. Calder's been blowing hot and cold for a couple of weeks now. He's been keeping secrets, holding back on me. Those were all signs to step back, to keep my emotions in check, but of course I ignored them.">

Lily can only take so much before she hits her breaking point. As much as she wants and needs her and Calder's relationship to work, she can't allow him to treat her like a yoyo. She knows she hasn't handled things right a lot of the times and owns up to it, but that fact also reinforces in her mind why she might be better off letting him go.

"I can't be with a man who cares so little for my feelings, who tells me he needs me one minute and casts me aside the next."

Calder is oblivious when it comes to how he presents himself. He thinks he's trying to protect Lily but all he ends up doing is shutting her out. What is really going on in that mixed up head of his just might not be what it seemed.

What I loved:

Lily's honesty with herself about her emotions, needs, and desires were something I appreciated so much! She owned up to her triumphs and her mistakes. I love that Ember took us into Lily's mind and thought processes and allowed the readers to see why she made certain choices.

Although he fought not to show it, I love Calder's vulnerability. There is nothing more appealing than a man who needs his woman and isn't afraid to do whatever it takes to make sure she knows it. I love that even though his life has fallen down around him he continues to carry himself with dignity. He didn't run away from the problems his father left behind. He didn't always deal with it the right way, but who would?

Truth or dare made me laugh, made me mad, and ultimately made my heart soar! I loved the entire experience of the book. 5 stars!

I love, love, LOVED this one. Lily Frazer and Calder Cunningham move their relationship into something more after their weekend together at the Cunningham Manor. As soon as the words 'Truth or Dare' appeared I was sold. I'm a sucker for a good game and Calder and Lily certainly know how to play.

There was the perfect amount of feels, sex, and angst to make this a five star read for me. It's probably one that I would pick up again for a re-read, too.

P.S. Asher Julian is an asshole. This has been a Stephanie PSA.

Oh Calder, I think Lily really earned you in this book because I don’t know if I could have handled the whiplash from your mood swings. I still think you’re drool-worthy hot and I want you on my speed dial if I ever drink too much... But man, you are a lot of work!

In TRUTH OR DARE, Ember and Calder have left the security of the Cunningham estate. Calder is dealing with the financial disaster his dad left after his death and dreading the day the press discovers his family is no longer financially secure. Lily is back at work at the Center—busy trying to promote the new direction the Center is going while also maintaining their regular art classes. More importantly, Lily and Calder are finally going to try and take their relationship into the real world. But Calder still has secrets he’s keeping and Lily isn’t quite ready to tell her dad about how she met Calder, much less that she’s now dating him. When Lily starts to worry that Calder is losing hope, she decides to go back to what they’re good at. She suggests they play a game of Truth or Dare—hoping the game will be both a distraction as well as a reminder of how good they are together.

But games can’t go on forever and at some point, Calder and Lily have to figure out if there is more to their relationship than just games. I thought TRUTH OR DARE was equal parts exhilarating and hair-pulling—I gave the exhilarating parts 5 stars but ended up taking off half a star for the hair-pulling (I think I might have a bald spot now)—so 4.5 stars. In HIS WICKED GAMES, I loved Calder’s approach to the games and couldn’t get enough of his wicked side. But in TRUTH OR DARE, sometimes I just wanted to throttle him and say—hey, just play it fair! No bending the rules, no twisting words, just do it! Between that and me constantly stressing that he was going to give up on Lily before they had a chance, I’m not sure who had it worse—me or Lily. I mean, I was really and truly stressed! I know he said lots of amazing things to her that made me think she meant the world to him, and sometimes just his reaction to things she said had me in full out swoon, but his evasiveness and pulling away had me seriously worried he was on the verge of calling it quits! What are you doing to me, Ember Casey? All in all, I thought TRUTH OR DARE was a great addition to Lily and Calder’s journey and I hope there’s a lot more where that came from! I’m just hoping Calder won’t have me in such a panic in the next one!

Holly's 4.5 Star Review

I first read His Wicked Games as part of the blog tour and I really enjoyed it (you can see my review here) and couldn't wait to see where Ember Casey would take the characters next so of course, as soon as I saw siign ups for Truth Or Dare, my fingers couldn't move quick enough!

Truth Or Dare begins three weeks after His Wicked Games ends and Calder and Lily have their first date outside of the mansion. When Calder starts taking secretive phone calls and keeping Lily at a distance, she proposes a new game. One that will help them learn more about each other and if Lily has her way, bring back the heat and passion in their relationship that Calder was trying so hard to put on hold.

I LOVE the whole idea of the games in both books. They give such a fun and exciting element to the stories and I became really giddy once they started because I was looking forward to seeing what would become of them. Some of the dares were so, so funny and Calder's truth when he was asked of his filthiest fantasy had me laughing really hard. There were some <>very clever answers!

There was a story beyond the games though as Calder struggles with losing his family home and fortune and and both himself and Lily have to deal with the press surrounding the Cunningham's affairs and the center. And of course we have the incredibly sexy scenes that this series would not be complete without. Calder is one super sexy guy and Ember Casey certainly knows how to use him to bring readers to their knees. And that ending? Loved it!

Truth Or Dare is another great book from Ember Casey and I cannot wait for Calder and Lily's story to continue in Sweet Victory (His Wicked Games #2.5) which will be out in the Fall of 2013.

See more of my reviews on my blog Thoughts At One In The Morning.

My Thoughts:

After reading the phenomenal His Wicked Games, I knew I needed to read the sequel, Truth Or Dare. I had to know what was next for Lily and Calder, whether they could move forward from what they discovered in the first book. Lucky for me, Ember Casey is one of the sweetest authors ever and she allowed me the opportunity to read it. And oh my goodness... it was awesome.

So, remember when I said that the first book had a lot more depth beyond the romance? In this book, it continues in an even more brilliant way. Lily's suggestion of playing Truth or Dare brings about a lot more intimacy beyond the physical. As they reveal truths about themselves and dare each other, they share these moments together that draw them closer as a couple. The further the game progresses, the more they realize that there is more to the relationship than their romantic liaison.

Of course, not everything is perfect, especially since Calder seems intent on hiding something from Lily. She's hoping that their game will lead her to an answer, lead them to the place they need to be. When the truth comes out, in more ways than one, it is a test of the strength of their relationship. Whether or not their feelings were deeper than either of them let on. Will they be able to make it through this challenge and remember everything that they mean to each other?

Truth Or Dare is one of the best sequels I've read. The romantic buildup and the passion between Lily and Calder? Astonishing. Ember Casey has created a couple to root for, not to mention one that you want to be in yourself. I am definitely going to be jumping at any chance to read everything she writes in the future.

My Rating: Exceptional

Spellbound

I bought this, the second in the series, right after I read the first and I finished both in one day. The writing in Truth or Dare surpasses that of His Wicked Games. The story is more believable and concise, plus it deals with some very real life issues: long distance relationships, trust and keeping secrets.

I was very impressed with this book and the tension keeps you reading. Calder becomes more of a person rather than a type cast billionaire, by the end you feel for him and long to see his life return to what is was. But if you are looking for a final answer as to what exactly happened to the Cunningham fortune you will be sadly disappointed.

Other than that I love this book and I would reread the series again. Looking forward to reading the short novella that concludes this series. I would recommend this book to readers that want a real story to go along with all the sex scenes in romance books. Ember Casey can write and she also knows when to edit, where things belong and when a good fade out will do much better than just another sex scene. There is a purpose to every scene in her books nothing is done for shock value or just because it was too hot to edit out.

Wonderfully written and well worth the purchase.

I swear a lot of authors do this.

They write a decent book that for free to get you into the series, trust me, I get it! Otherwise we wouldn't read on.
But then they just go down hill...

I enjoyed the first book. I'm strict on stars so 3 is good. It's an easy read that fits the criteria that I wanted. Funny, sexy and feel good. It's a stereotypical, fantasy fling you want with the main male character.

Sexy guy - check
Billionaire - check
Erotica - check
Secret passageways - check
And then hide and seek - check

It range from you adult to your inner child.

But then this book...

I mean it was okay but I wouldn't of bought it had I known.

The sex disappears basically and then it's thrust upon you non stop at the end of the book.
He has secrets, he has mood swings, and frankly, if I were dating someone less then a month with that attitude, I would've been long gone.

She kept saying she wouldn't let another guy walk all over her but she did, he just did it in a sly way.

It wasn't bad but it certainly wasn't great.

I loved this book as much as the first book. It follows Lily and Calder, and the aftermath that follows after Calder loses everything. They begin to date as a normal couple, but Lily senses that Calder is holding something back, but he insists that all is fine. Then Calder decides that they need to slow the relationship down, this then confirms to Lily that something is wrong. Lily is in turmoil as she wants to help, but she too is keeping the relationship secret from her father. As a couple they have a lot to deal with but can they get through it all together. This book takes you on such a rollercoaster, its hot, its steamy, its sweet, its funny, its romantic, its sad, its happy, it's a great, great read. Thankyou for letting me review it

Let the Games Begin

"Truth or Dare" is a continuation of Lily and Calder's story. As this second book in The Cunningham Family series opens, Calder and Lily have bumped up their passionate relationship but Lily is convinced that Calder is still keeping secrets from her. As the protagonist, Lily's POV alternates between her lusty attraction to Calder and her angst-ridden feelings of responsibility to her father and his life's work. A dual POV (Lily and Calder) would have added an interesting dimension to the story but, in the main, the characters are well developed. There is sexual tension aplenty here, but I take issue with the author's insistence on referring to her characters' sexual actions as being "dirty" or "filthy". What's up with that prudish attitude? To be fair, Ms Casey is not the only romance writer guilty of this exaggeration. I read similar passages all too frequently. There were numerous typos and dropped or missing words. Those are like gnats - pesky and unwelcome. All told, this second book is every bit as good as the first, which, by no means is a given. And I've already purchased the novella (#2.5) to wrap up the series.

Four well-deserved full stars for Lily and Calder's second book.
Life bursts our lovebirds' happy bubble and they have to figure out how to bring theit relationship to the next level. They bump into a few major obstacles that would put an end to any other love story. But they are not like any other couples and, more importantly, is it love between them or are they just loving to play their games? The more I read into this story the more I feared their happy 'f**kery' wasn't going to end too well for them because they were totally unprepared for those deeper feelings lying hidden inside their hearts and they both were having a hard time adulting. Author Ember Casey's compelling writing leads you through it all though and, like her characters, you'll make it to the other side. I just love this couple!!

100% forgot that I had downloaded and started this series on my Kobo back in 2016. I finished the book I was reading tonight, and didn't have access to the next book on by TBR list, so I decided to pick this back up.

Didn't mean to, but ended up reading from where I had left off (about 25% of the way in) in one go. Whoops. This series really is addictive as all hell. It still has the fast paced rhythm and sexy times as the first book, but also showed some great character development.

I think this series is going to start becoming one of my go-tos when I am in between books, or need something light and fast paced.

*This review is for all The Cunningham Novels, 1, 2, & 3*

Good books, wish there was another book to go along to see what happens to Lily & Calder once they move in together. Calder is the Alpha male in the beginning but as much as he wants to control it throughout the books he can't. Lily is the strong female even though at the beginning she succumbs to his games. The games are captivating. These books do want you to keep reading, they hold your interest. However, I would only recommend these books if someone has read a lot of alpha/romance novels before.

Plot: Lily and Calder take their relationship outside into the real world, but they face some issues. Neither quite trusts each other, although they do try. And they keep getting into heated arguments. They even break up once, no, actually they break up twice. They go on adventures and finally admit to themselves and to each other that their relationship is something more, that they love each other. Oh, and they play a game of truth or dare throughout the book.

This was a good book, and it kept me entertained. Tomorrow, I continue the series.

Well, this 2nd book was a definite disappointment, kind of like the 1st. I had higher hopes for the 2nd one thinking they would finally be happy and be together. But, that remains to be seen. The constant pushing and pull of eachother and the overthinking of feeling in Lilys head has me so in furstarated that I stopped reading this book about half way through. Reading should be relaxing, this book was not relaxing for me.

Oh my god, what a beautiful story. I just loved it.
The content was very new and unique. I loved the dialogues and the way Calder and Lily loved each other. My favourite scene is when Lily is drunk and Calder goes to her place and takes care of her. I just read and reread it countless of times.
One my favourite books 🤩
