Falling for the ghosts of murdered gangsters who were your imaginary friends once upon a time? I'll admit it's a little unusual. But they're back and totally real, and it's hard to argue with their admittedly obsessive level of devotion.
Unfortunately, their violent dedication isn't enough to bring down the powerful man who hurt my little sister. I have to take matters into my own hands. I just wish I had a better grip on this marshy magic I've discovered in myself.
If that wasn't enough to deal with, the guys are stirring up trouble both in their search for their long-ago murderers and the pasts of the hosts they've taken over. Trouble that's arrived with guns blazing. And I've still got that gaping blank in my memory.
My past holds more secrets than I know. They just might shatter every hope I have of a happily ever after.

I continue to really enjoy this series. I'm still not sure if I am a fan of graphic audio. I think my struggle with graphic audio is that my brain likes it when I speed up audiobooks in general, but when speeding up graphic audio it makes it sound really weird because it's speeding up all the sound effects and background music. I can't listen at 1x speed because I lose focus too easily if it's not fast enough. It's a personal problem but nothing against this book. I still fully plan to listen to the next one as well.
GrapicAudio version - this is awesome, a few bits are a bit cringe - fight scenes etc - but the rest really brings the characters to life. I've listened to several GraphicAudio books now, some of my fave authors rereleasing in this format, and I am content to spend the money again!
Lily is my kind of FMC, she has quiet strength, resilience of dooooom and a really huge growth across the series as she comes into her forgotten/discovered power. The actual underlying plot of what has been happening in this town is awful, and the first book barely hints at it. Fortunately her men are straight onto it's destruction alongside devising their own revenge for their prior deaths. Each guy havign his own dedicated narrator is a wonderful thing! Again, taken me a bit of time to get over the spicy scenes with all the voices involved... As I actually think the original format with Joe Arden narrating was already AMAZING, he had already made each character his own. The Graphic Audio includes lots of music, sound effects and drastically shortens the actual overal listening time. Less to describe I guess?
I could barely remember what happened in the first book but once they started back up in this second book, I knew my time on the awkward ride was over. I’m just not buying into I was put away for years in a psychiatric institution but don’t know how or why I was there. Then expecting us to believe she can be around the body of someone that made her life a living hell is absurd. I think this could have been a good series, but it fell short.
Ok so this was the dramatized adaptation. Horrible! It kinda gave me anxiety issues. There were times when there was a high pitch tone that went on for a few minutes as background sound. I thought I was having tinnitus. NOW I still have ringing in my ears louder than usual. It just to loud and busy Its an ok story. I would like to listen to it without all the background crap.
