Lisa Regan is the USA Today & Wall Street Journal bestselling author of the Detective Josie Quinn series as well as several other crime fiction titles. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in English and Master of Education Degree from Bloomsburg University. She is a member of Sisters In Crime, Mystery Writers of America, Crime Writers’ Association, and International Thriller Writers. She lives in Philadelphia with her husband, daughter and Boston Terrier named Mr. Phillip.
I haven’t loved the Josie Quinn books--until now. Her Mother’s Grave, IMHO, is the best book in the series so far!
Her Mother’s Grave can be read as a standalone.
When a body of a teenage girl is unearthed, Chief of Police Josie Quinn and her team begin an investigation. The more they uncover about the dead girl, the more Josie reflects on her childhood and her abusive mother; exposing her vulnerabilities and putting her in imminent danger.
This book is focused on Josie’s childhood and the abuse she suffered at the hands of her mother. Starting from the age of 6 to 14, the reader learns just how vindictive, cruel, and sick Josie’s mother was. The bits and pieces that are hinted at in the first two books are finally revealed, including Josie’s link to Trinity Payne.
This book has it all: drama, action, suspense, and a little bit of romance. What made me like this book more than others in the series is that the plot is tightly wound, without some of the messy twists in the earlier books. Now that the series has hit its stride, I hope that there’s more of Josie Quinn books to come!
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and Bookouture in exchange for an honest review.
Josie comes to the scene and asks Noah, "What he's got"? Noah points to the backseat of the cruiser, and says "A couple of kids playing in the woods found some bones". Josie peered through the Window into the back seat of the cruiser where the faces of two young boys stare back at her. They couldn't be older than ten or eleven. Both were covered in mud. One of the neighbors called it in.
The boys dug up three fox holes and stopped when they found the bones. Josie and Noah found out that the bones were of a girl between the ages of sixteen and nineteen years old. They were thinking the bones were thirty to forty years old. Then they found out that the bones belonged to Belinda Rose, Date of Birth October 15, 1965. Josie says "that is not possible, Belinda Rose can't be dead. She couldn't be r ad for thirty years because Belinda Rose is my mother and she is still alive. Josie thinks it Belinda Rose was buried thirty years ago, who the he'll was the woman who called herself Josie's mother.
Just as Josie gets close to uncovering a secret that will shatter her world forever, another body is uncovered. It's suddenly clear that someone very close to Josie will stop at nothing to keep the truth buried forever.
This is the third book in the Josie Quinn Detective series. I just love Lisa Regan. She is a fantastic author. I love the Claire Fletcher Series and I am now loving this series. I think this one is the best one in this series, so far. This one goes back to Josie's traumatic horrifying past. This is a very dark mystery. It has very tough subject matter and it is very hard to read at times. This book shows why Josie is the way she is and I loved that I got to know Josie more. I just love her. She has been through so much.
I was immediately drawn into the story and it was so gripping til the very end. All of the characters were very well developed and it was very well written. This one was a winner and I can't wait to read the fourth one. I don't think any of the books could too this one.
This was a Traveling Sister Read and it was a great discussion.
I want to thank Netgalley, Bookouture and Lisa Regan for the copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Wow! I just love this series and absolutely loved this book!
HER MOTHER’S GRAVE (Detective Josie Quinn Book 3) by LISA REGAN was a highly entertaining, riveting, twisty, and suspenseful read that immediately grabbed my attention and held right to that very satisfying conclusion.
LISA REGAN delivers an absolutely fabulous story here with compelling characters and a gripping storyline that takes us back to Josie’s childhood. The story is told through flashback chapters when Josie was young and in the present with a new case that she is investigating. I really enjoyed the flashback chapters and thought it flowed perfectly with the present case which added quite a bit of suspense to the story for me. All the mysteries and how they all tied together was perfectly executed.
I really enjoyed learning about Josie’s past and all the things that she endured in the hands of her mother. But, it definitely wasn’t easy to read - it was quite intense, disturbing, and definitely pulled at my heartstrings.
This was an extremely fast-paced read that had me rapidly swiping those pages as fast as I could - in fact I binged read Book 2 and Book 3 with my Traveling Friends. This series is that good!
Norma’s Stats: Cover: Cover love! I am a country gal and anything that looks rustic or haunting is very appealing to me! Out of all three books in this series I would say this is my favourite. Title: Intriguing, suspenseful, and loved how it played so cleverly into the plot. Writing/Prose: Well-written, solid, gripping, and proficient. Plot: Dark, gritty, action-packed, enthralling, suspenseful, held my attention fully and highly entertaining. Ending: Shocking, satisfying, and took me by surprise. I didn’t see that ending coming at all! Overall: The drama, revelations, suspense, thrills, chills, and those shocking twists and turns definitely made me one happy and totally satisfied reader upon closing this book. This was my absolute favourite book from the Josie Quinn series and I can hardly wait to read the next installment! Would highly recommend!
Thank you so much to NetGalley, Bookouture, and Lisa Regan for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book in exchange for a review.
This is the third book in the detective Josie Quinn series and the best yet! Josie Quinn is being crowned my favorite female detective... Lisa Regan did a brilliant job with the character development of Josie... in the first book I liked her but I didn’t feel as though we really got to know her...in the second book we got to know her a little better, we got a little glimpse into her past, but we were still held at arms length... in this book WOW she was laid bare to us... we got multiple flashbacks of Josie from age 6 to 14 when she was abused almost to the point of being tortured by her mother... this part of the book was hard to read... it was very dark, very disturbing, yet very revealing and telling.... your heart broke for Josie and your respect grew for her....
This book starts out with 30 year old bones being discovered... when the identity of the body is revealed to be A young lady named Belinda Rose, Josie is confused... how can that be? That is her mother’s name and her mother was still alive.... so who is her mother really? And how is she connected to this body? Just as in the previous books in this series The layers of this mystery were peeled away at the perfect pace... leaving me frantically turning the pages to see what was going to happen next.... twist after twist that I did not see coming and an ending that surprised me and left me satisfied...
In my review for the second book in the series I asked Lisa Reagan to please let a little romance develop between Noah and Josie... and guess what? She listen to me!😂 I like the direction their relationship is headed in and I hope Noah can help Josie heal her heart... I cannot wait for the next book in this series... and I will let you in on a little something cool... Lisa Regan commented on my blog and the next book will reveal some of Gretchen’s secrets and it’s out in December!
In case you couldn’t figure it out from my gushing review I strongly encourage you to pick this book up and if you have the time binge the entire series over the weekend!
*** many thanks to Bookouture for my copy of this fabulous book ***
I read Her Mother’s Grave with three of my Traveling Sisters and this story left all of shocked with that final twist that we all enjoyed and never saw coming.
Her Mother’s Grave is the third book in the Detective Josie Quinn series and has come to be the favorite of the three for me and this series has also become a favorite of mine. Josie did not start out as a favorite character for me and I really thought she was cold and hard to connect with, in the first book Vanishing Girls. It took me a while to warm up to her and I really wanted to know what demons haunt her. Well, Lisa Regan takes us back to Josie’s childhood and we finally see who that demon is and see into her dark past. A little darker than we thought it would be and Lisa Regan shocked us a bit here, as we didn’t see some of that darkest coming from her.
After human remains are discovered Detective Josie Quinn is on a new case and we start to see a connection between Josie’s past and present. From the very start, we all were hooked and didn’t want to leave a coulee until we read the very last page.
Lisa Regan does such a fantastic job here creating and developing Josie’s character over the three stories, allowing us to think and feel differently for her with each book. A real talent and gift from an author who can have us more invested in a character with each book. For me and a couple other TS this one is the best in the series and one not to be missed. I highly recommend this one and of course, I highly recommend this series. If you haven't read it, I suggest putting this one and the whole series on the top of your list. Traveling Friends, Norma hasn't read the second one or this one and she is looking for some friends to read with. If you would like to see this series read in a group. Let me know and we can make the series an upcoming binge read!
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Lisa Regan for a copy to read and review.
This is Traveling Sisters GR Reading Group Review and it can be found posted on our themed book blog Two Sisters Lost In A Coulee Reading. https://twosisterslostinacoulee.com Coulee: a term applied rather loosely to different landforms, all of which refer to a kind of valley. Past and Present collide in this third installment of the Defective Josie Quinn books! Two boys are playing in the woods near their trailer park home when they find human remains. Josie Quinn joins her team at the scene and is immediately reminded of her past, as a child she played in these same woods and grew up in the trailer park where the boys currently live. To make matters more interesting, the bones are that of a young woman with a rare dental condition which makes identifying the remains easier. Josie is SHOCKED when the identity comes back as Belinda Rose. Wait! What!?! That is her mother's name! Josie is naturally intrigued and wants to learn more about his case. Her horrible Mother is still alive, although Josie has no contact with her. Her Mother was abusive and cruel. She hung out with dangerous people and was dangerous herself. Did her Mother steal this woman's identity? Who was the real Belinda Rose? So many questions. What is the connections? Are there any?
Readers of the previous books (Vanishing Girls and The Girls with No Name) know that Josie does not really mention her mother. We know she has a troubled past and cannot tolerate having doors on closets. In this book we learn about her childhood and the horrors she experienced. This book is told in alternating time frames ranging from the present day while the case is being investigated and, in the past, when Josie is a child living in a horrible situation with her abusive Mother.
I enjoyed how some questions are answered about Josie and her issues she has from the previous books i.e. being in dark, confined spaces, closet doors, etc. This book also shows Josie dealing with other issues as well, some of them minor such as a growing attraction to a fellow officer, bonding with her deceased ex-husband's child, and one which is so HUGE it cannot be mentioned! READ this book. Better yet Binge read all of Regan's books!
I have been a HUGE fan of Lisa Regan's books ever since I read my first book by her which was Losing Leah Holloway! From there I went on to binge read several of her books. She has delivered yet again with this book! When I first read Regan, she reminded me of another amazing female Author - Karin Slaughter. Both excel at writing gritty police procedural books with like-able and engaging characters with flaws. As she continues to write, Regan has proven that she can hold her own and deliver book after book after book. Like I said, HUGE fan!
This book has twist, turns and revelations. There is mystery, suspense, romance, sadness and hope all at the same time. Her books are gritty and there will be some scenes which may be difficult for some to read, but life is messy, and crime is never pretty so...you get the picture.
I found this book to be well written and captivating. I can't wait to read more in this series (as well as her Claire Fletcher series). I read this in one day as I tend to do with her books. I was sucked in from the very beginning and had to keep reading to find out the answers to all the questions I had. Fans of the series should really enjoy this instillation. This book will work as a stand-alone novel but I highly encourage those who have not read the previous two books to go back and start there!
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.
The third in the Josie Quinn series, this book details Josie’s youth and abusive mother as the team investigates the discovery of a 30+ year old skeleton. As they learn more about the identity of the missing girl, Josie flashbacks to the horrors she endured living with her mother. Regan does a great job of intertwining the personal with the professional.
This is a straightforward mystery. Solid, well written, entertaining, but nothing flashy or special. I liked the constant pace. The interactions between the team are well done and it turns out Josie isn’t the only one with horrors in their past.
The ending quickly becomes unbelievable but that’s true of many mysteries.
My thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for an advance copy of this book.
When Josie Quinn is called to a scene where human bones are discovered, she is immediately reminded of her childhood. The trailer park where she grew up and her deceased ex-husband, Ray. And then it gets worse. The bones that are discovered belong to a woman named Belinda Rose, who has been dead for over 15 years. Yet Belinda Rose is the name of Josie’s estranged mother... who is very much alive.
Shortly thereafter, a second body turns up and Josie, Noah and Gretchen’s investigation heats up. Thereafter, things turn personal for Josie when someone targets her and she has no idea why. Bad things keep happening to Josie and even the police department can’t track the person whose after her.
Switching back and forth between the past and the present, we slowly learn all about the abuse Josie suffered at the hands of her mother. Let’s just say that if I were Josie, I’d be afraid of closet doors too. It’s no wonder that she has closed herself off from everyone around her. My only hope is that now that this is out in the open that she will be able to let others in. That said, a part of the story that lots of my GR friends were clamoring for - a romance between Josie and Noah - bothered me a bit..I found it to be a bit contrived and well “too early” considering that her ex-husband only passed on a few years earlier and she and her former fiancé broke up 6 months prior. Give the girl some time already!
“Her Mother’s Grave” is crazy and suspenseful - the twists are hard to keep track of and the path they lead you down are surprising to say the least. I honestly don’t know how Josie followed them or even solved any of the mysteries, but she is resourceful. All in all, “Her Mother’s Grave” is an entertaining mystery by Lisa Regan which finally gave us all the background we’ve been waiting for on Ms. Josie Quinn. If you like Detective stories - and have read the other books in this series, you’ll like this one too.
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Lisa Regan for an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
The third book in this excellent series and probably the best so far. It could be read as a standalone except you would miss out on the depth of the wonderful characters.
It was great to see so much of Josie's young life told in flashback chapters. As the book progresses it becomes clear why Josie is so self-contained and unable to relate to others the way they want her to. All of the characters are so well written including the crazy, evil mother.
The story is fast paced and action packed the whole way through and yet still manages to pick up the pace towards the end. There was really no place at all where I thought I might put the book down for a while and do something else. I stopped reading only when I had to sleep.
Amazingly the author even found an unexpected and very pleasing twist to add at the end plus the beginnings of a romance. I cannot wait to get into book four!
EXCERPT: She started the fire in the nursery. Her lips curved into a smile as amber flames licked the walls and spread throughout the room, consuming the perfectly matching furniture and the carpet from which she'd spent so many hours scrubbing invisible marks. The gossamer crib canopy she painstakingly arranged every day went up in a satisfying whoosh.
'Don't wake the babies. Don't go in there until the children are up. Don't. Don't. Don't.'
This'll teach her.
ABOUT THIS BOOK: When two young boys discover human bones buried beneath a tree in a trailer park, Detective Josie Quinn races to join her team at the scene. She used to play in those woods as a child, happier outside and away from her abusive mother, Belinda Rose.
Josie’s past crashes into her present when a rare dental condition confirms the bones belong to a teenage foster-child who was murdered thirty years ago. A girl named Belinda Rose…
Josie hasn’t seen her mother in years but, with an undeniable connection between her mother and the dead girl, does she dare try to track her down?
Just as Josie gets closer to uncovering a secret that will shatter her world forever, another body is uncovered. It’s suddenly clear that someone very close to Josie will stop at nothing to keep the truth buried forever.
As she battles the demons from her past, can Josie stop this killer before another precious life is taken?
MY THOUGHTS: WOW! There are plenty of twists and turns in Her Mother's Grave by Lisa Regan. The previous two books in this series have cleverly built up to this point and, although this could be read as a stand-alone, there is a lot of background information in the first two books that would be helpful in understanding the finer nuances.
Her Mother’s Grave switches between now and Josie’s childhood, and it is very well done. The switches all have a purpose and fit seamlessly into the current story.
I thought I knew where she was going with this plot, and I was partly right. Partly. There were plenty of surprises, things that left me shaking my head in awed amazement.
I don't want to say anything more which might give anything away, but Her Mother's Grave is well worth reading. This is action-filled, suspenseful, and I just loved it!
😍😍😍😍.5

4☆ An Action Packed suspenseful and thrilling read
Her Mother's Grave is the third book in the series. Although this can be read as a standalone I wish i had read the other books as there are some snippets along the way that I'm guessing have been running throughout the series.
This book is full of Drama and suspense and keeps you thoroughly gripped the whole way through. In parts it's not always an easy read and does contain abuse which was not easy. But did have the impact it needed for the plot.
I don't want to give anything away in case your waiting to read this book as you May have read the series previous. But what I will say is you learn alot about Josie's childhood and the abuse she has suffered. How things are linked I'll leave it up to you too read.
I'm definitely going to look into reading the other books as I really enjoyed this one. This is an action packed suspenseful and thrilling read which I know readers who enjoy crime fiction will love.
Thank you to Bookouture for this copy which I reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
the setup… Police Chief Josie Quinn is called to a familiar site where two young boys discovered human bones buried in a trailer park. It’s the same park where Josie played growing up and her sense of unease deepens when the identity of the teen is disclosed…Belinda Rose. It’s her estranged mother’s name but the body clearly isn’t hers as the girl has been buried there for approximately thirty years. The past that Josie has fought hard to push aside is now crashing into the present.
the heart of the story… Fragments of Josie’s childhood were revealed in the earlier books and now the whole story is presented in transitions between the past and present. I figured it would be bad but never imagined the true horror. Labeling her mother as abusive is an extreme understatement and what was inflicted on Josie was beyond horrid. It just makes me admire her even more having come out of this somewhat whole. But the investigation into how the real Belinda Rose came to be buried in Denton and the true identity of Josie’s mother was a fascinating journey through a barrel full of lies and deceptions.
the narration… Despite the many mispronunciations, Eilidh Beaton is still a very good storyteller. However, I’m looking forward to the change of narrators with the next book.
the bottom line… I needed a flow chart to keep up with all the twists and turns of this story as it was a rocky path that Josie’s mother and Belinda Rose took to Denton. This was a compelling story that I didn’t even try to solve, giving in to just enjoy wherever it led. The conclusions were shocking and will continue to resonate going forward as Josie’s world is forever changed. I was mesmerized by it all.
"Her Mothers Grave" is the third book in the Detective Josie Quinn series by Lisa Regan and wowzer, what an incredible read! This is a masterclass for how to pen a killer thriller.
Josie Quinn races to the scene where two boys have discovered the body of a teenager who had been dead for 30 years. She went by the name Belinda Rose, the same name Josie's abusive mother used. There is a clear connection between the names but does she dare track her mother down? We learn an awful lot about Josie's past and the physical and mental abuse she endured as a child.
I am already eagerly awaiting book 4! I will be picking up the first two before the fourth comes out to learn more about Quinn in particular. A totally captivating from beginning to end with a few surprises along the way. The narrative switches between Josie's past and present which works extremely well. I enjoyed the dynamic between Josie and Noah and look forward to seeing their relationship develop further.
This is my first Lisa Regan book but I plan to read the rest of them over the weekend perhaps. Highly recommended.
Many thanks to Bookouture for an ARC. I was not required to post a review and all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
Wow absolutely brilliant 5🌟 all around, This is the 3rd book in the detective Josie Quinn series and now I've finished it i will be utterly disappointed if this is the last in the series. I had a bumpy start with this series but this is the book that fix the whole problem and the one I've been waiting for. It is a fast paced, page flipping, edge of your seat, while leaving your nerves on their last thread kind of book. If you're looking for a book with lost family's , found bones, deep evil secrets and psycho mother's (?). Then this is the book for you. Enjoy !!! This is the third book in the travelling friends book binge 😘

Detective Josie Quinn hadn’t been Chief for long, but the support of her two main detectives, Noah and Gretchen were proving vital. And when the discovery of skeletal bones in an area of the woods where Josie used to play as a child was made, Josie’s past suddenly reared its ugly head. Memories she had tried to keep under lock and key for years now threatened to tangle with her and she wasn’t sure what to do.
Belinda Rose was the most brutal of women – and she was Josie’s mother. So how did she die thirty years prior – but her mother was still alive?
As Josie and her team dug into the secrets buried around both the dead woman, and Josie’s past, danger in all forms was dogging her. What was going on? Who was doing it – and why?
Her Mother’s Grave is the 3rd in the Detective Josie Quinn series by Lisa Regan and is another heart-stopping, intense thriller which I couldn’t put down! The absolute and utter evil of one person, and the bitter hatred of anyone else in the picture – outstanding writing by the author. I thoroughly enjoyed Her Mother’s Grave, as I have the previous two in the series, and have no hesitation in recommending it highly.
With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my digital ARC to read and review.
I received a free e-copy of Her Mother's Grave (Detective Josie Quinn, #3) by Lisa Regan for my honest review.
Lisa Regan has become on of my favorite Authors. I have read all 3 of her Josie Quinn books. They are all packed full of excitement and I absolutely love the characters. I honestly can't get enough of Lisa Regan's books and am in love with this series.
I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves an amazing crime or mystery series. You won't want to put it down.
MEGA BIG FAN of Lisa Regan's JOSIE QUINN!!! There is nothing that this book does not offer from suspense, crime, love, and characters that become a part of your life until the last page is read. This is the third in this series and would recommend reading these in order but if not pick this one up because I think it is fantastic. Quinn is the police chief who is called on to solve a murder that happened decades ago. But.. how she puts the pieces together to do this and finds the connections to renew her childhood horrors is nail biting. "A copy of this book was provided by Bookouture via Netgalley with no requirements for a review. Comments here are my honest opinion." Love the cover art. Thought this might be the last in this series but noted in Regan's website that it may continue. HOPE SO!!!
Her Mothers Grave is book 3 in the Detective Josie Quinn series and in my opinion the best one so far. Absolutely loved this book and am hoping that another one isn't too far away.
Kids are playing in the wood when they discover human bones buried in the dirt. When those bones are identified as Belinda Rose, Jodie's world is about to come crashing down. Belinda Rose was her mothers name. This investigation is personal and all the things that Josie thought she knew about her mother are about to be revealed as lies. So who was her mother really... and who is she?
This book really shows us the real Josie. We learn about her childhood and all the things that she had to endure whist growing up. She learns a lot about herself and the people that she called her family.
5 stars all the way for me.. thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book to read. All opinions are my own and are in no way biased.
Detective Josie Quinn is investigating when young boys find human bones. These bones are found in the woods behind a trailer park that Josie once lived with her mother when she was a child.
Imagine her surprise when the bones are confirmed belong to a young woman who was murdered 30 years ago ... Belinda Rose... who happens to be Josie's mother.
So if this is the real Belinda Rose .. who is the woman who raised Josie?
Just as Josie gets closer to uncovering a secret that will shatter her world forever, another body is uncovered. It’s suddenly clear that someone very close to Josie will stop at nothing to keep the truth buried forever.
This was an excellent addition to this series. Josie has had her share of problems over the years, but this book takes the reader back to when Josie was the child of an alcoholic, drug-riddled toxic mother.
Her problem with a stalker evolves. Someone is posting her name and phone number on craigslist .. asking for those who would like a good time to call her. One man has accosted her in front of a grocery store. Her car has been vandalized ... her house broken into. There are no clues ... but who would want these things done to her?
Riding a roller coaster is tamer than the action of this book. A real page turner, the twists and turns pop up when you least expect them. The chapters are divided ... the current life of Josie and then those from when she was a child. You cry for the child and wonder how she survived relatively normal.
Although third of a series, this one reads easily as a stand alone. As always, I highly recommend starting at the beginning of this terrific series. Josie is a fascinating character.
Many thanks to the author / Netgalley / Bookouture for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
Police Chief Josie Quinn is called when two young boys dig up human remains. The body of the woman they found looks to have been there for over thirty years. Her rare dental condition leads to a quick identification. Her name is Belinda Rose and she was approximately eighteen years old when she died. Josie is shocked when she hears the name. Her mother's name is Belinda Rose and she is still alive, although Josie has no contact with her. Growing up, Josie was physically and mentally abused by her mother. She wonders if her mother stole this girl's identity and if she had anything to do with her death.
This is the third book in the Josie Quinn series. I recommend reading this series in order. Lately, I've been falling asleep every time I open a book and try to read. Not so with this book. I couldn't put it down and read late into the night. The book jumps between the investigation in the present, and Josie's life growing up with her cruel drug-addicted mother. These scenes were sometimes hard to read as we learn about Josie's past.
This book had a lot of surprise revelations, along with a shocking twist that I didn't see coming. There was also a touch of romance between Josie and Lt. Noah Fraley, which I was happy to see. I can't wait to read the next book. I highly recommend this series. My rating: 5 Stars.
The Josie Quinn series has quickly become one of my favorites. This is the third entry and each seems to get better. The setting is unique and the characters are enjoyable. If you have read either of the two previous books in the series (Vanishing Girls, The Girl With No Name) you know that Josie had a tough childhood. Her mother was an abusive drug addict / alcoholic / psycho. In this story Josie's past will collide with the present. Josie is a survivor but the question is how will Josie come out when this is all over?
When the story opens Josie is babysitting Misty's son. While this book can be read as a standalone you would have to had to read the earlier books to know the significance of that. She gets a call to come out to a crime scene at a trailer park. Does Josie know where it is? As a matter of fact she is very familiar with that particular trailer park. Two boys were playing in the woods behind the trailer park and found bones. Human bones.
Dental records confirms the bones belong to a teenage foster-child who was disappeared thirty years ago. A girl named Belinda Rose. That is Josie's mother's name. Although Josie hasn't had any contact with her mother in years she knows her mother is still very much alive. Now Josie doesn't have a choice. She has to learn more about her mother as well as the foster child who disappeared thirty years ago. The Belinda Rose's.
We know about Josie's childhood but we never heard any of the details. In this story we get to hear some of those details ... and we get to meet Josie's mother. The story alternates between the past and the present. There are plenty of twists and turns that will keep you turning the pages and guessing. There was big surprise about Josie's past that is revealed. I was left looking forward to reading the next book in the series, Her Final Confession. Just one of the indicators of a great series.
4.5 stars, damn she's good. This was a seriously good book. Some young boys playing outdoors in a trailer park find some human bones. It transpires the bones belong to Belinda Rose who was born in 1965 and died in her late teens. Josie (Detective Josie Quinn) says that can't be as Belinda Rose is her mother and she is very much alive. But if the bones are indeed Belinda Rose, then who is the woman calling herself Josie's mother?
As Josie uncovers some awkward truths that could change everything, another body turns up and it becomes clear that someone doesn't want the truth to come out.
4.5 stars rounded up on this thrill-ride from Lisa Regan
This was the best in the series so far and it's my favorite. I'm loving the start of a romance with Noah and it is great to have so many secrets cleared up about Josie's past.
I think that Regan's writing has gotten stronger, this one flowed quite smoothly. I liked the chapters that were glimpses back to Josie's past, but made my heart ache.
I'll be anxiously awaiting book #4 and I'd like to read some of Regan's earlier books.
"She is spiteful, jealous, and vengeful, and most of all, she's unpredictable. And very, very dangerous."

This has definitely been my favourite book in this series so far! I really loved the flashes between past and present, it really added some punch to the story and made it even more interesting. I really enjoyed learning more about Josie and her past and having this story revolve around her much more. This is one hell of a thriller, from start to finish it’s non stop action and twists and turns that constantly keep you guessing right until the very end! I thought the ending was really interesting, it’s not what I was expecting and threw me. Long story short, I absolutely loved it!
Tai jau trečioji serijos knyga apie detektyvę Džouzę Kvin. Pirmosios dvi man tikrai patiko. Tad nieko nelaukusi čiupau skaityti tęsinį.
Detektyvė Džouzė Kvin visuomet stengėsi pamiršti savo vaikystę, tačiau panašu, jog jos praeities vaiduokliai ją ir vėl pasivijo. Netoli jos gimtųjų namų du berniukai aptinka žmogaus kaulus. Nors kūnas po žeme išgulėjo kone trisdešimt metų, tačiau pavyko nustatyti aukos tapatybę. Ji - Belinda Rouz. Būtent taip save vadino Džouzės motina. Sutapimas? Labai abejotina..
Or su nekantrumu laukiu tęsinio!
Bloody hell! This third instalment in the Josie Quinn series is just …. WOW! I don’t even know where to begin.
When human bones are discovered behind the local trailer park, little does Josie know her past is about to catch up with her. Dental records confirm the remains belong to a young girl who was murdered thirty years ago. Her name was Belinda Rose. But wait a minute, Josie’s mother was Belinda Rose, wasn’t she? Josie hasn’t seen her mother in years but it looks like she now has no choice but to track her down.
If you’ve been following this series from the start, then you already know little bits and pieces about Josie’s relationship with her mother but this time, we’re digging a helluva lot deeper. What follows is an intensely heartbreaking background story with the most sick, twisted and insanely disturbing mother ever!
To say this book is incredibly gripping would be an understatement. I raced through this as if my own life depended on it. I never quite knew what would happen next and this intricately woven plot kept me guessing until the end. With superb pace throughout, twists and turns, an unpredictable and dangerous psycho, nail-biting tension and flashback chapters that will pull at your heartstrings, A Mother’s Grave has everything I could possibly want in a fantastic detective story.
This is without a doubt the best one in the series yet. It has left me rather speechless and a tad discombobulated. If you like your crime fiction series with a fabulous female detective, you have to read this series! I can’t wait for the next one and so look forward to seeing where Lisa Regan takes Josie and her team next!
Dar viena puiki serijos knyga😍 Si dalis labiausiai patiko is visu- susipazinau artimiau su Dzouzes praeitimi ir pasirodo, kad yra ir nauja pradzia detektyves ateiciai😊 Tikiuosi tolimesnese knygose suzinoti kaip tesesi gyvenimas atradus tikraja seima ir prisileidus Noju arciau🤭😄 Is tikruju tobulai aprasyta- isgyvenau kiekviena kankinanti prisiminima ir manau jei buciau Dzouzes vietoj- nudobciau tokia "motina" kaip Laila, kuri del savo pagiezos pasauliui- atmeme is nekalto vaiko puse gyvenimo ir brangius zmones, kurie nenusipelne tokio likimo. Pritruko man vienos detales- nieko nebuvo aprasyta apie tai kaip baigesi Sofijai Bouen- manau uz tai ka padare- irgi turetu keliauti I kalejima... Jau laukiu naujos si menesi pasirodancios dalies🥰
