★★★ 1/2! The Ex Games, part 3 of 4. Answers & resolution to Brandon & Katie’s story, but not before some more twists & turns!

“His lips crashed down on mine hard, his teeth biting my lower lip aggressively as his tongue plunged into my mouth. His kiss was all-consuming and devastating.”

The Ex Games is a novella series that should be read in order:
Part 1: The Ex Games I
Part 2: The Ex Games II
Part 3: The Ex Games III
Part 4: After the Ex Games

In The Ex Games, Part I & II recent MBA graduate, Katie Raymond dreaded having to attend company orientation after learning that her ex, billionaire Brandon Hastings, purchased her company. They had had bad break-up seven years prior, details revealed as Katie travels to meeting while reminiscing about their relationship. Story then followed them during their reunion and rekindling of sorts. Their story was filled with many back-and-forths as both sides of their history is uncovered providing us with many shockers and surprises along the way.

The Ex Games III continues with their explosive interactions. In this installment everything is laid on the table; all their secrets, lies and deceits are exposed as Brandon and Katie come clean bringing everything to a shocking stand-still as both must decide where they go from there…

BRANDON HASTINGS:
35-42 years/heir/Hedge fund/CEO of Marathon Corporation/$$$$/black hair/blue eye/boss.

Brandon Hastings’ anger and hot-cold attitude has worked well, but as story progressed he never quite lived up to his full potential. Five words to describe Brandon: Honest, charming, noble, nurturing, protective jaded and vengeful.

 photo ExgamesHebysb_zps537d1fba.gif

KATIE RAYMOND:
18-25 years/recent MBA graduate from NYU/executive manager at Marathon Corporation/brown hair/brown eyes/employee.

Unfortunately Katie Raymond failed to endear herself to be in this series. It seems lying and playing games is her default personality. Six words to describe Katie: Naïve, immature, selfish, uncharismatic, thoughtless and deceitful.

I have deducted from my overall ratingfor the dialogue still feeling off, but mainly because there was so much miscommunication, lies and deception between the two at times I wasn’t convinced of their attraction nor love.

The Ex Games, part III also moved along at a fast pace. I have welcomed the plot turns all along and part 3 allowed for some more surprising developments and a good ending, albeit predictable and somewhat anticlimactic. There will be an extended epilogue of sorts released shortly: After the Ex Games .

An Interesting plot that grabbed me enough to have me reading the series! Fast-paced story that made for an easy read! Overall the story never quite met its full potential, but I am happy I saw Brandon and Katie through! 3.5 stars! I love the book covers for this series!

“We were perfect for each other. I knew that in my heart. I always knew that. But I didn’t want to capture a caterpillar in a jar and keep a butterfly hostage. I needed you to metamorph and come back to me.”

3.5 stars for the entire series (3 parts)

I read these books in one sitting. The first book had 66 pages and lucky for me, free on Amazon. The second and third books though were pretty pricy for something VERY short. The plot was intriguing enough although COMPLETELY unbelievable...i mostly exclaimed 'yeaaa..righttttt' whenever the 'twists' were revealed. Writing was choppy, felt like a really young person was writing these novellas at some point. The authors did well with the angst bit though and i would have taken these books more seriously had the plot and writing been more developed.

Overall, meh-just-an-ok read.

Is it possible to give this a negative one? Or maybe it deserves the one for sheer creativity. I don't think I could have come up with even a fifth of this shit. And that's exactly what it is: shit. Mind-blowing shit, yes. But shit is shit.

Let me review alongside the synopsis (because I think it'll be fun):

The stunning conclusion to The Ex Games novella serial is here!

Stunning. Yes, that's one way to put it.

What other secret is Brandon hiding?

Correction: what isn't he hiding? What depths is he not capable of reaching?

Seven years ago, Katie Raymond made a mistake that cost her the love of her life. Now, Brandon Hastings is back in her life and it seems like he is determined to make her pay for her previous mistakes.

Yeah, she lied about her age - being 18 when he was 35 which is, admittedly, a little icky - but, dude. For reals. You're 42 now. Get the fuck over it and act like the grown ass man you're meant to be.

When Katie overhears a private conversation, she has no idea just how deep the secrets go.

Oh no, she most certainly doesn't. I've read it all and still have no idea what's going on.

She gives Brandon one last chance to prove his love to her, but when he violates her trust one last time,

...by fucking her in public without her knowledge...

...she doesn't think she can ever forgive him.

But she does anyway.

But then, Brandon tells her the one thing that is guaranteed to turn her world upside down...

...which, of course, is a poor attempt at justifying her decision to stay with him instead of slapping him with an indefinite restraining order with a distance of 2,000 miles and keeping her poor child the hell away from him...

...and she's not sure if her life will ever be the same again.

No, it won't be. Her life will be fucked. Fucked to hell and back again.

At that, dear readers, is The Ex Games. Happy reading.

Could and should have been better.

What a jumbled mess of lies and assumptions, where to start.. so many things were thrown into this book it had a real chaotic feel to it.

My main problems were:

Firstly Brandon's age, I constantly had to remind myself that he wasn't in fact an eighteen year old boy and that he was actually a forty-two year old man..seriously forty-two, talk about immature.

The engagement, on what level did that ever make sense to anyone?

The big surprise was only a surprise to someone who hadn't read the previous book.
Seven years...I mean seriously seven years.
I just can't get my head round this book, it's just...you can't just throw loads of stuff in there and hope some of it sticks or makes sense and I'm seriously concerned about 'One Night Stand' what am I talking about?

I read and loved 'One Night' and I just couldn't wait until January 5th for the full book 'One Night Stand' so I started looking into this author's other books, I tried 'Private Club' but that was, in my opinion trying to do too much, so much was thrown into a short book and I couldn't get along with Meg, it just didn't work but I'm starting to see a trend here and I'm suspecting that 'Stand' will be like this book.
Now I haven't read enough of this author's books to know if she only has 'one story' but it seems like that to me.
With the exception of 'Private' the first book is good and pulls the reader in with the promise of a great read. But it appears that in order to deliver on the promises loads of stuff is just thrown in there to make it interesting and complex!
Maybe I'm being unfair, time will tell.

I stupidly bought all three books at once without reading the first page of the first book. Although after reading the first book I would have bought the other two right away. What a waste of money and time. But I HAD to finish it because I flippin' paid for this crap.

So I pushed through, although I had to make myself read it.

angry photo chandlerboringbook.gif

Brandon is such a douche. He is a manipulator and he thinks he is justified. There were so many "curve balls" in this last book, it just got ridiculous.

 photo bartletheadsmackgif.gif

So this was all a big test. Lets mentally abuse this woman and emotionally break her to see if she will stick around? Geez, she was 18 freaking years old! Give her a break. Any sane woman would have walked away from this psycho.

Wasn't Brandon lying too?

Because he KNEW the whole time he KNEW and he bated her and made it harder for her to tell the truth with the things he said. He wanted to make sure she wouldn't run away again?

First of all, I didn't think she ran. He is the one who took her in the alley and used her and then dumped her by the trash, breaking her so completely, why would she ever think he would want to hear from her again? Then to find out he KNEW? What was that about then? Why was he so mad when her lies were exposed? Why did he angrily take her to the alley and use her and leave her if HE KNEW ALL ALONG? It makes no sense. I find it funny that this whole series is centered on the fact that she lied about her age, and yet HOW OLD IS Brandon?? 40-something? He has got to be the most immature 40-something I have ever heard of! GROW UP!

So after all this abuse, he wants to know if she will stay and choose him. Why? Thats not strength or love. Strength would have been if she turned around and walked away from him without ever looking back. Katie needed to love herself and stay away from that man. She was a doormat.

I feel like the authors were going for an alpha male like Gideon Cross or Christian Grey, where they mess up and you ache over the conflicts between the characters, but then you find out why they did the things they did and you end up feeling for them, and loving them for their flaws. This was a far cry from that. This was just a train wreck.

I just can't believe there are so many good reviews for this series.

The final installment brings revelations and understanding to this crazy, whirlwind romance. Katie and Brandon's road to happiness was fraught with heartache, lies, and deceit. As in the first two installments, there were aspects I liked and other parts that didn't work for me.

Repeating myself, I'll state again that most loved this series. Please don't let my ratings deter you from giving this a try.

HELLO! I just want you to know that it is not safe to read this review unless you have read the book. Bear with me, please. This contains explicit content as well as pieces of informations from the book itself also known as spoilers. If you want to know how I've seen it after, or how I felt about it, don't say I didn't warn you. But please feel free to read (: xx

Okay, um how do I start this?

Say, I guessed it right, the whole "it's her kid! I knew it!" thing. It was already hinted at part 2 that there was something that Katie was hiding. But the Denise part was something. I won't say that it surprises me or something but it wasn't something to be said as big a deal.

The whole time throughout the three books that the authors kept on shifting from present to past and past to present tense sort of ruined the whole thing. It was confusing. One moment Katie's talking about now and the next thing it was like seven years ago. I mean, they should've italicized the letters for better reading comprehension, you know?

Okay, another one was the prologue of this part 3. This totally confused me. Because you know back in part two, it ended with Matt on the phone with Brandon, right? Okay, let's get this straight. We now all know it was Will, who died of a heart attack *may his soul rest in peace* how on earth was he involved with this? Or, let me rephrase that one, why does he partake a part of a POV in this story? You know at first I thought it was Brandon, but then he was watching a couple and he was watching the girl being happy and far from the gold digger they thought so he must be talking about Katie. Then, I thought, it was weird, Matt called and he said "he loved when one of his sons called" so I was like, WTH Matt is Brandon's son? (And you see, I was wrong about that.) So I had to re-read the prologue 3-5 times, I think before I decided to move on and just find out how it was related.

Okay, another one. Um, the plot. Right. The plot. I am big into plots. And this didn't even satisfied my hunger for it. All throughout the story I was expecting some big fancy plot. I thought some grande shit was going to get on. Then and there Brandon revealed how he planned the whole seven years. That was just creepy. Like stalker creepy. I was not proud of it. I know the whole idea was of breaking Katie's heart all throughout the story and he succeeded in that. But the point of using and dumping and using again and to telling her that he loves her. Wrong move dude, just so wrong! I was into expecting more of um, say, Maria kidnapping Katie and Brandon comes like a knight in shining armor and all those things? Plus the blackmailing things that could just top it off? Hauling them to traps, shits and craps like those? It could've been more exciting for me. But yeah, that's just for me.

As much as I loathed the planned seven years, the plan was actually brilliant. I mean, who thought a man not easily satiable with sex could wait and abstain for seven years? Um, way to go, bruh! I mean, is that even possible? Ignoring ones libido? That's just hard for a man like him who's very active in sex. I just have to say this one you know? It hard to shake out of my system. ((:

How do I end this review? I've never given up a two stars you know, but it's actually hard not to.
I did expect something from this novella.

I hate you, I lied, I love you, I hate you, I lied, I hate you, etc.etc.etc. !!! Crazy story ! Brandon is an ass, Katie is spineless. A lot of jumping around, I want you, I don't want you, you lied, I hate you, just goes on and on... What a horrible roller coaster ride of indecision and insecurity. They each went behind each other's backs. Totally did not respect each other, and it went on for years. Gosh, I thought it would never end. Great sex, but in between, what a total mess their lives are !!!
He takes her blindfolded and ear plugged to a bar - and she has sex with him in public -( she doesn't know where they are) because he's jealous of the bartender !?!! What ?!!!!
She never told him she had his baby and gave it up? He never told her he had her watched all those years and that HE took the baby!!?
Did Not Like this trilogy !!!!

I read all three in one day so I got a real feel for the story and it was just immature and weird. I cared nothing for either one of the main characters. The only people I felt were worthy were Meg and the Get Lucky bartender.

Well let me just say 1 & 2 we amazing lived the story, the writing, the cliff hangers......but #3 left me feeling like I had just watched a bad movie. I'm sorry I found it a little cheesy. I think if the whole story had of been a novel it would have given more time to expand the story. I found it predictable. Katie was weak, in this one. I didnt much like her character in #3. Also $3.14 CDN was a bit much for 6 chapters. The good news is it won't stop me from reading more of their work.

This one got me good!!

One moment you are sure you know what it's going on and the next booom!

Everything was strange, mostly i wanted to hit Brandon.. I understand some of the things he did, but he had the power to put them both out of their misery years ago and he didn't..

Twist and turns again and again.. He is a bit mental..

And lets not forget the last part.. God my heart was screaming.. I can't believe he pulled something like that.. ugh i was so disgusted by him. At first for one reason and then after what Maria pointed out..

The way he acted i thought he was a cheater and a liar..

The end though was great and finally my heart found its way back from my throat..

THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK
- Meg was great once again and i hear she gets her own books.. yeah!
- Katie was so strong..
- Brandon is utterly crazy but.. Oh well..
- Maria didn't make it on my favorite list..
- So many secrets...
- Great happy ending..
- Harry! AWWWW!
- I loved how jealous Brandon was and possesive..
- I also liked the bartender from Getting Lucky..

Warning: contains spoilers

So this is my review for the whole series. I put it here in the last book so everyone will get what I'm talking about (& also so you can be spoiled as little as possible).

First, this is crappy. Second, there is too much sex going on in this series. I swear only 20 pages of it contribute to the development of the storyline (may be a little exaggerated). Third, Katie is self-centered and a doormat at the same time. She complains too much on how bad Brandon is treating her but allows him to walk all over her. Fourth, there are too many unnecessary characters. Her bestfriend does nothing. Priscilla is mean and ... ? Why does Matt matter? And I think there are already too many issues between them that they do not need a crazy Maria character. And why does Brandon let Maria near Harry if she's mental? Last, I pity Harry. His parents are too immature. How can Katie let her child be adopted if she knows that she can leave him to the father? (okay so I can forgive her since she was a pregnant teenager at that time & she was not thinking right bec of panic, hormones, & other reasons) But how can she not doubt a little that Harry is hers and Brandon's? She did not even ask the age of the child. On the other hand, Brandon let the situation go out of hand because of the famous male ego. Srsly, they had a child too think about. They should have set their issues aside & done their best to be good parents.

The writer wanted the book to be erotic and Brandon to be dominant too much that she let the development of an interesting storyline suck.

Sorry for the grammar. This is my first review & I just have to write my disappointment.

Great series. Brandon was a real dick in this last book. I can understand where he was coming from and the secret he's keeping from Katie is massive. I actually had an idea what it was a quarter of the way through this one but knew for sure what it was half way through. But he crossed the line several times in this book and did some very demeaning things to Katie.

I recommended this one to my sister and sent it over to her to read. I definitely wouldn't recommend this for everyone. I like the asshole characters. What I didn't like was that Katie was a pushover. She was pretty much powerless when it came to Brandon and she took a lot of abuse from him. She wanted to get away from him and he just kept pulling her back in with his handsome good looks and sexual prowess. She certainly talked a good talk but just couldn't take that extra step to put her foot down and say "ok, enough is enough" and I wish she would have. It would have made the chase a bit more exciting. Let's face it, her lying to him initially about her age was pretty bad. But it didn't warrant his treatment of her.

Going back over this review, it seems negative, but I really did enjoy the books. I just really wish Katie had been a stronger character when it came to Brandon.

ARGHH!!! I skipped!! She's pissing me off! She gets tough for a minute then give in after that! I just skipped a few paragraphs!! not a good thing!!!!

this is totally weird...*Brandon's Internal Dialogue : 'She'd caught me in a lie. A big lie.' Then all of a sudden...he didn't do it! WTF! Ble!!

arghh!! Gosh i'm getting so pissed right now. He just told her that he knew about the lie and were just waiting for her to confess, and then...bam! They're all good and sucked faces!! and I'm like..WHAT!??! What kind of reason or fucked up reasoning was that!??! annoying...

This is the last part of a 3 part mini series. We have all been gripped by Brandon and Katie and all wondered if they would get the happily ever after. I know a lot of people have been eagerly awaiting this part, me being one of them. And so its here. I read this in one sitting. I waited until i knew i wouldn't be disturbed.

Now on to my review.

Okay, i really am in two minds here. One on hand i loved it, loved how it all was concluded but..... I feel a little puzzled, lost even. I know it explained how he got Harry and i truly believe money can get you anything you want. It just seems unbelievable to me. Its like everything Brandon ever did was to get Katie back into his arms. He didn't want to be the one who stole her youth, well he already had done that. He had her followed, had photo's taken of her, even her so called boyfriend worked for Brandon!! Yet he turns round and says he wanted her to have a life? How could she when he was watching her. And in seven years she never once had sex? not at all?

When they met up again at the training Brandon was horrid to Katie. He used her and told her he had a fiancée. In the same breath he claims to love her. He tried and succeeded to manipulate things for his benefit. He even got Meg fired from her job just to stop Katie leaving the company he now owned. He wanted control of Katie and she handed it over,at times too easily for my liking. Sometimes she did come across as the once gullible eighteen year old she once was. I suppose we are all capable of being that person we once was.

Marie was just a bitter self absorbed bitch, who thought she'd bagged herself a rich man and when she realised it was all fake she tried to play Brandon at his own game by telling Katie about a DVD showing Brandon with two hookers, one being Denise, much to her own fail, yet the DVD was a fake. It just showed her to be what we all knew she was, a vengeful bitch. The whole Denise thing was strange. Not quiet the secret i had expected. In the end it wasn't Brandon but a look-a-likey, used to try and blackmail money out of Brandon.

In the end it all worked out and Katie fell into Brandon's arms, loving him like she always had. Brandon even told Harry that Katie was his real mommy, after one meeting.

Yes i enjoyed it. Yes I like Brandon and Katie's story. I feel the ending was rushed a little. But overall an enjoyable read.

The first book had me hooked, the second was okay, and the third lost it's mind.

First off, love does not s*** on another person, wipes it feet off on them before entering the house, and plays a bunch of supped up high school drama games at the age of 40 while preaching I'm mature and I know what love is, here take my piece as I bend you over this dumpster and then leave you there like a two bit whore. He basically played with her for three books, cause he knew she was 18 the entire time, and then had the audacity to be pissed at her. He was certainly holding a few lies for himself as well. Seems a bit double standard. Talking that 'I wanted to let you grow up first' crap when he shoulda just left her alone to begin with so she could grow up. Instead he stands to the side while she feels forced to give up her son, a boy who could have had a mother for the first 6 years of his life, instead love was to busy playing games because you know, that's what love does, it craps on you and then magically everything is okay at the end.

They psycho stalks her, lies to her, keeps the knowledge of keeping their son from her, tricks her into banging him in a club in a community that she is frequently seen in, toys with her, degrades and cheapens her, breaks her down purposely, and then proclaims he was waiting for her to prove that she was mature and that she knows what love was. Love would have never bumped and dumped at dumpster, watched a pregnancy from a sideline, continued to date someone they knew lied from the beginning, tricked their partner in public mortification, kept a son from their mother for six years, and...

It was all around crappy. You wanna write about a trashy novel, that's fine, I like em. But the author clearly knows nothing about love and should not try to intertwine the two in this fashion. All this time I'm waiting for her to grow a pair and was sadly disappointed. If you have no self respect, you have no idea what love is, and both their stupid butts have no idea.

Should have left it just as a steamy raunchy novel.

PS. All their love is centered around raw humpy hump action, no actual love portrade, and he got her best friend fired on purpose for one of his many stupid schemes.

woowowwwooowww that was something.
I don't know what to should say about the ending, it was bit i don't know way too much possessive and stalkery from both point of view.
But i love love the whole story ,there were so many twist and secrets i have not yet seen in any book. I really like how the whole thing turned out never saw this type of ending any book but it was bit really possessive also.
So ya it's a really good series with so many twist and turn that you will love in love with it.
Though i have not rated it 5 stars because of possessiveness and stalker ing thing above the level i can accept but i still really like it!!!

Kind of let down. Really liked the first 2 stories, and was enthusiastic to finish this trilogy. The ending was very predictable, and very unbelievable as well. And the way all was forgiven so simply and they were happily ever after was a little too Disney princess for me, especially after all that had been done to Katie by Brandon. Unreal. Also the whole "This is why I have a fiancé" story, was stupid to me too. Kind of bummed with this last book.

When I left book 2, I thought Brandon was an arse, but he did actually semi-redeem himself in this book. He was however a crazy stalker, and whilst I'd guessed the plot line, I still felt this instalment didn't quite reach its potential. There was one particular scene which was very vindictive, and didn't quite tally with his sentiment...

Well, the last few pages were great. So was Book #1. Too bad we didn't have Book #1 and the ending in Book #3 together with the middle not filled with the ridiculous scenarios and circumstances that we found in Book #2 and mostly #3. The writing even got stupid when #3 started. I'm sure these writers are capable of better.

Okay, in previous books I liked Brandon. I hated him in this book.

There is nothing good about this man, he's freaking crazy. I don't mean Fifty Shades crazy, I mean stalker crazy.

The scene at the bar, that was just disgusting. But that's okay Katie, ignore that too..

didn't work.
