Growing up as a young girl, Sabrina Jacobs could only dream her life would be this good. She has a successful career, a famous sexy husband, two children, a house in an affluent Westchester suburb and a shoe collection worthy of a magazine spread. Too bad it’s all a façade.
It has been almost a year since her husband admitted he had an affair with a younger and bouncier coworker. Follow Sabrina as she tries to rein in her out-of-control life by kicking her husband out on his rear, chucking her career and even firing her too-cute-for-the-job nanny. But how will she survive as a stay-at-home mom in the land of designer clothes, designer kids’ parties and designer babies? Hmm… maybe the hunky young French teacher, who has been flirting shamelessly with Sabrina, is just what she needs to take her mind off her problems. Well, not if her husband has something to say about it. Will Sabrina be able to forgive and still be true to herself?

Cheating hero.
Married couple.
One year has gone since he confessed his affair when he ended it. Sadly there’s nothing we know about it and this is the first no no thing.
If you read a cheating book you expect details, when did it happen, when it started, how long, was it physical, did he love her. We only know ow was a younger and hotter model that worked with the hero. We don’t know anything else.
The heroine has been trying to fake its all right but it’s not.
Apparently they never talked about it and this is bad because it means they don’t know why it happened.
When the heroine sees ow at a party where she’s attending and ow is talking and laughing with the hero she decides she has enough and throws the hero out of their house.
He tells her ow is still working at the tv station where he works and they’ll be working together, but the heroine doesn’t have to worry because it’s over.
Thank fuck. And the disrespect? What about the lack of respect, him laughing with ow in front of his wife after what he did to her?
The rest of the book is the heroine having girl time with her girlfriend and trying to find her new self.
They try counseling but apparently the author is not very fond of it, because nothing meaningful is ever said during those couple of sittings they attend, and nothing is ever solved.
So in the end all he does is change his job so she can be safe.
Honest. The next hot woman he meets it will be the same, with him cheating again.
I didn’t like this book at all.
I would have liked that he cared more about what he did and that he were more apologetic but he wasn’t, he was like, oh, but it was over more than one year ago, why do you still keep nagging? I would have liked to run him over with a tank.
So, in the end, nothing was solved, I hate these things, why write a cheating book if all we can hear is suck it up and move on? Really? They should have tried counseling as soon as he revealed his cheating, and for a longtime, because the causes of him cheating were never known, nothing was ever solved, and next time he will probably cheat again.
Really disappointing.

Great cheating story, with some decent angst. I loved Sabrina. She was a total spitfire and didn't take any shit. I almost wondered if she'd kick Sean to the curb for good. I wouldn't have minded a little more grovel from Sean in the ending though. That being said, I enjoyed this entire story.

Nicely written, mature story dealing with a husband's confession of an affair. I connected with Sabrina and the evolution of her feelings and decisions while dealing with the devastation of Sean's affair with a co-worker. While in Sabrina's POV, we do get some reveal of Sean's thoughts and feelings through interaction with Sabrina and his actions.

I made 2 highlights available - I felt them.

I didn’t realize until about 75% in, that I’d read this before. I liked (Sabrina) Bree; she was both funny and sassy, but sometimes a tad judgey/shallow. I felt like she’d be a super fun friend, but would be selective in whom she deemed cool enough to make the cut, and honestly, I don’t think I would… cuz tired enough…I’d probably let my kid wear the PJ’s… LOL. Regardless, she had spunk and kept this entertaining, but I failed to really get invested in the story.

I think part of my issue for not really connecting was I couldn’t get a grasp of what or where the book was going. I was expecting a troubled marriage/cheating story, but that’s not exactly how it shook out. There is a cheating situation, and it is the main conflict of the book, but IMO it took a backseat in the storyline, and was mostly there as a catalyst for the invention of Sabrina 2.0.

In addition to the cheating; there’re several subplots going on within… school mom politics… the nanny… her job… becoming a stay at home mom… launching a new business… her sister… her friends… a smidge of OM drama… Basically, we follow Sabrina around as she overhauls her life, and I tried to “reboot my brain” and get on board with this path, but my head was stuck on the affair, which is always in the background.

Bottom Line- I liked it, but didn’t love it. Personally, I tolerate cheating, because as a plot device, it provides angsty emotions, and I get bored when everyone is behaving… but… (for me) it wasn’t delivered effectively, so instead of feeling heartbreak… I was frustrated with TONS of questions. If I were rating this solely as a “hubs cheating trope” book… I would probably 2-star it, but it’s really more of a “finding/re-inventing yourself” book, so I’m sticking with 3. 😊 Regardless, it's an entertaining read free on KU, so give it a try.

Not a bad book, but can't really embrace the story as we have no details. To really get a feel of a book about infidelity and decide if the hero deserves forgiveness, you need details! We get none, how did the affair start? How long did it last? Why did it end? How deep was it? Etc

Trust. Once it's broken it's hard to put back together. How do you get past your spouse cheating on you? How can the relationship go back to what it was? Are you ever able to forgive? Are you ever able to trust again? Can you honestly let go of the hurt, resentment and love?

This story deals with all that I mentioned above. It's told thru the woman's POV and you can feel the emotions she goes thru when her husband drops the bombshell. There's other things that occur in the story but I focused on their relationship. I put myself in her shoes. I loved how she thought. I loved her actions. I would speak her words. What would you do?

The ending felt rushed but the rest of the story made up for it.

Bounce by K.M. Jackson was one of those books that completely took me by surprise. I wasn’t sure what I expected out of the story, the plot summary pretty much sums it up but I will tell you what I was not expecting. Its heart wrenching and inspirational and this story touched me on so many personal levels that it left me dumfounded. It is a genuine real-life portrayal I think every woman should read and Sabrina Jacobs reminded me why I am so proud to be a woman. In all our glory, we truly are the stronger sex and she is no exception! Yes, her resilience is continually tested, but she stays true to herself and even through her toughest moments of trying to figure out who she is in the midst of an identity crisis, she never wavers in her core beliefs and she never cheapens herself. Her emotions are real, raw and honest ranging from depression to anger and written so superbly it is heartfelt. She doesn’t lower herself to any random vengeful acts even though I was personally encouraging her visions to live out Angela Bassett’s role in Waiting to Exhale. That woman became my personal hero when she started a little bonfire with all of her cheating husband’s possessions, but I’m supposed to be above that type of behaviour, right? Someone pass the gasoline…

Sabrina Jacobs is a woman who has her life together. She is happily married (at least on her part) to her college sweetheart, a former NBA player who is a celebrity in his own right with his successful sports talk show. Sabrina is an incredibly intelligent woman who has worked her ass off as a financial analyst in a male dominated company where she is about to be promoted to partner and she has two happy, healthy, beautiful children at home. And in one fell swoop, silicone enhanced Bimbo Barbie brings her world crashing down. I will admit that I give Sean a teensy bit of respect for being man enough to admit to his affair, to her face. But this man, who has been the center of her world, is now enemy number one and she rightfully throws his cheating ass out the door.

“Do these shoes make my guilt look fat?”

Guilt. An emotion that rules many of us. Guilt, because sometimes your career takes precedence over your children. Guilt, because you missed that extracurricular activity you promised you would attend. Guilt, because a nanny has become a pivotal female presence in your children’s lives. Guilt, because you don’t want your marriage to fall apart and your children to grow up as a product of divorce. Guilt, because you cannot accept your husband’s repeated apology and don’t know if you can ever trust him again to put your family back together. And finally, frustration, for being the broken woman you swore you wouldn’t be. What follows is a lot of profound soul searching on Sabrina’s behalf.

Shedding her working mom image, Sabrina must learn to navigate the carpool lane as a Stay At Home Mom and learn to play nice with the social climbing, two-faced, backstabbing financially elite Stepford wives that make up the PTA. Sabrina can close muti-million dollar accounts but she is out of her depth with these women and the chatter of her broken home. Sean is desperate to reclaim his family and is relentless in his pursuit. It’s probably the main reason I was able to like the guy. He doesn’t quite grasp the emotional scars he has caused Sabrina or the continual pain he unknowingly still inflicts, nor does he understand why his apologies aren’t enough to get her past the betrayal. His continual stance on “I have apologized for this, how much longer are you going to hold this against me” made me want to grab him and shake him. If that isn’t enough to juggle, her children’s younger and incredibly sexy French teacher is pursuing her and the thought of dating again makes her nauseous. I cannot tell a lie, I really, really wanted her to hook up with the French hottie but Sabrina is not rash or spiteful in any decision while she tries to get her life sorted. Sabrina hails from a family of resilient women and she has an incredibly close and supportive relationship with her sister Janice who also brings her own dynamic to the story. I loved Sabrina’s humorous internal musings over the unbelievable and over the top competitive and outright bitchy nature of the women she must now indulge and I cried every time her heart broke just a little more. Sabrina is a strong and independent woman and she just might show a few of those Stepford wives how it’s done.

All Sabrina wants is to restore the happiness she once had with Sean but she eventually comes to realize that the past cannot be recaptured and she will have to find her new happily ever after in the here and now. My own mother raised me to never depend on a man, to always make sure that if I needed to walk away from a relationship, I could take care of myself and not stay because I had no other choice. It seems that Sabrina’s gram had some similar wise advice of her own to pass down…

“Never give more away than you are prepared to lose.”

I have it on good authority that Ms. Jackson may not be finished with the characters in this small town and a sequel to Bounce may be forthcoming and that has me looking very forward to returning to the suburb of Westchester.

I can’t decide between a three and a four star rating for this book. It was well written and I liked Sabrina and her sister Jan, as well as the new friends Sabrina makes. But I am honestly really conflicted about the premise - husband cheats, admits it, and wants things back the way they were. Having never been in this situation, it’s hard to know what I would do, but I DO know that this is not a fun story. Very difficult. Also, Sean pissed me off a lot.

Didn't really work for me. Too many grammatical issues, for sure; a strange lack of contractions in dialogue (not a total absence, but enough of a shortage to make the voices sound stilted to my ear); and definitely some pacing issues (the middle really dragged, and then the end just zipped past). (It looks like River Hills Press is just a name for this author to self-publish her work, and that actually makes me feel better about the whole situation - this FELT self-pubbed, so it's kind of reassuring to know that it was.)

But more substantially? I didn't like the MC. She seems like a total hypocrite... she seems pretty shallow herself, but is constantly judging others for being shallow. (Like, I know it takes a long time for black women to look after their hair, but only if they want it to look like white women's hair. If this had been explored, it could have been really interesting, but instead we get the MC bitching about the mixed woman down the street who insists on being considered as white, AND being scornful of the women in her community who pursue cosmetic surgery treatments, while still spending entire days at the salon looking after her own white-centric vanity. She calls another mom a nutjob for letting her kid go to school in PJs, but also considers the carefully thought-out Halloween costumes of other kids over the top. etc.) It feels as if there's a really, really narrow band of behaviour that's acceptable to this woman, and it just happens to be the band where she is! So, anyway, I didn't like her.

The husband? He was handsome and loved his kids. Made good money. Other than that? Not much to say. I sure didn't appreciate the use of force in the bathroom scene. Pretty much blew any forgiveness he'd earned from me. But apparently the MC liked it?!? (Why hadn't he been like that BEFORE, she wondered!)

And then the end?

I read this book in a day...which means it was good!!! I bought this book a couple of weeks ago, after someone suggested it on FB. Had never heard of the author, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I kept putting off reading it, and then yesterday, I decided to take the plunge. Such a good story! I really liked Bree; I especially liked that she was nothing like what I would expect a former pro ball player's wife to be like. And I liked that she wasn't a perfect wife and mother: she worked too much, didn't spend enough time with her kids, and hated cleaning. And she was constantly comparing herself to other women. All of this made her very authentic and real to me, because we all are guilty of at least one of these (several for me!). Bree is one of the most likable and realistic characters I've read about in a while.

I didn't know what to make of Sean. While I believed that he was no longer messing around, I hated the way he kept insisting that Bree should have been over things by now. The hell? How do you just get over that? While I know that this was Bree's story, I found myself wondering what Sean's thoughts and feelings were. I wish we could have gotten a peek inside his head, if only to know why he would do what he did, especially since Bree thought that things were fine.

I really enjoyed the secondary characters in this book. Jan reminded me a little of my sister, and Gigi was just the friend that Bree needed. But Julia and Cassandra took the cake. Both of them were nuts! And Mack and Zach were adorable. Kim, too.

So glad I picked this one up! Next up is Through the Lens.

Review of Bounce by K.M. Jackson 3.5 stars

I just finished reading Bounce and now I feel better ,the story is about a career woman named Sabrina trying to balance her life being superwoman . I felt she wanted to be great at everything
great at her job, great mother , great wife and when you work that hard at everything somethings suffer. But its not all of her fault, while Sabrina is running in circles trying to be the best at everything ,she learns her husband Sean has cheated on her with his
coworker Dana ( The girl with the thin thighs). Will they over come his betrayal, you have to read the book to find out. The author takes her time telling this story , she takes you through the emotional journey of Sabrina and Sean to the very last page. I found myself being angry at Sabrina’s not being able to let go of her anger , but when a character makes me mad I know the author is on the right track. I liked the fact the the characters were complicated, and funny , I liked the side characters stories ( The Stepford Housewives ) especially Cassandra I can see her fingers up making air quotes when she says “ Black” . My guilty pleasure in this book is Sean I wanted them back together and every time the author put him in a scene I looked into his green eyes and said yes! Would I read this story again the answer is no because sometimes you read a book and it stays with youI will never forget Bounce.

A great story -BRAB Online Book Club

This is my first read by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The author did an excellent job of building the story of the two main characters and even some of the secondary characters, so much that I felt every emotion the writer intended.

When Sean cheated on Sabrina with a coworker, she had a difficult time getting past the hurt and pain. Sean knew he made a big mistake and did everything to let her know how sorry he was. Their journey took them through separation and the painful realities of infidelity and the effect it has on the children.

I like that Sabrina was a strong individual that stuck to her beliefs no matter how difficult it was. Their journey took them into reconciliation at just the right time. They eventually got their HEA.

I'm on my marriage in trouble with cheating streak of reading. This story seemed interesting because there was cheating but it wasn't a recent event, it was over a year in the past. The fmc is trying to work past her husbands infidelity with a former coworker. They have a child and the fmc has quit her job and is a full time sahm.

Tropes/ Themes:
❤️ Marriage in trouble
❤️ Cheating MMC
❤️ Chance of new romance
❤️ Characters of color

When the fmc finds out that the former coworker is now a current coworker, she goes over the edge with anxiety. She believes her husband has or will cheat again. She asks for a separation and kicks him out of the house.

The mmc arranges for them to have marriage council in ( which they hadnt had before). He swears he isn't cheating but the fmc realizes she's not over the betrayal and isn't sure that they can heal.

When a new man asks the fmc out she jumps at the opportunity. She finds herself at a crossroads though.

Does she want to move on with a new man or agree to reconcile with her husband?

Ok maybe it's just me but what bothered me most is that there were no details of the affair asked or given. I personally would want to know every detail and want to know if feelings were involved. The fmc didn't ask though, even in the marriage counseling session.

This book was beautifully written and entertaining but I wish there had been more communication between the fmc and mmc. The fmcs life while separated was highlighted but not so much a lot of communication with her estranged husband during that time.

Sometimes life is all about being able to roll with the punches and bounce back from setbacks. Sabrina Jacobs is about to learn how to bounce and roll and discover that sometimes the dreams you have for yourself aren't really what you want. Bounce is a marvelous and romantic novel but with so much depth: Humor, terrific and diverse secondary characters, an intimate insight into a young family and the trials and tribulations that can visit even the most perfect of couples. When Bree's marriage hits the rocks, her whole world seems skewed and she's just not sure what she wants anymore, except she knows that she needs to be the best mother she can be - a SAHM instead of a determined career woman working for people she doesn't really care about. But making changes can bring a whole new slew of discovery - and problems of their own - like discovering that the joys of housekeeping aren't really, well, fun! Bree is a feisty chronicler, too, of the lifestyles of the relatively rich and sometimes famous. From the women at botox parties trying to keep up with the sexy au pairs and secretaries they're afraid will distract their husbands, to the who-can-top-this kid's birthday party extravaganzas, and a great look into the racial struggles that go along with a 21st century woman's life. Sexy men from a drool-worthy French tutor, to Bree's own flawed but oh-so-hunky hubby, ex-NBA star turned sports-casting celebrity, populate these women's lives. Bree's kids, Mackenzie and Zach are terrific characters and the poignant rendering of what happens to kids when parents feud is a great counter-point to the snarky sisters' interchange between Bree and her free spirited sister Jan. There's some delicious hot and bothered moments as well to round out this great story. Women's fiction or romance, call it what you will, Ms. Jackson's covered it all beautifully in Bounce. I read this book in a single day because I just couldn't put it down (my Christmas gift to me!). A novel on a par with the best of Terry McMillan but appealing to any woman who has doubted herself and struggled to make her own dreams come true. It will not disappoint!

I have to start by saying that I am not a fan of fiction written in the first-person narrative, as it tends to give a very one-sided story. With that in mind, I hesitated to buy this book, but after reading the description and downloading a sample, I was intrigued. Now I can say for certain that this story needed to be told from the heroine's point of view.

This is the classic tale of a seemingly solid marriage being tested and torn apart by an infidelity, but after delving into it you realize it's not the same old story. There's the suburban setting with the house, kids, soccer moms and all that other good desperate housewives fodder but wait, there is definitely more.

Although I can't exactly relate to her plight, I could feel Sabrina's desperation and vulnerability as if I were reading my own diary at times. I think all women, especially married, go through some of the same roller coaster emotions and find ourselves questioning and comparing in all sorts of situations.

Yes, Sean had done this terrible thing, but my heart went out to him. Though we don't get to hear his thoughts and feelings directly from him, the writer skillfully gave us a glimpse through his words and actions. And let's not even mention the kids. I so badly wanted these beautiful, thoughtful kids to have their family back.

The only criticism I have is the editing. There were some points in which I thought I might have been reading a first draft. It wasn't the worst editing job I've seen and the story was so well told, i found it to be only a minor inconvenience.

This is the first book I've read by this author and it certainly won't be the last. Well done.

I had the opportunity to meet this author at Romance Slam Jam 2014 and as member of her group on FB, knew of the book but wasn't ready to dive into the book just yet being my first read from her. After talking to her, she had me hooked and I read the book on my travel home.

This is a real story with real life issues with the main focus on trust in a relationship, what happens once its broken, how do you get pass a spouse cheating, do you forgive, throw in the towel and never trust again, and will the relationship/family ever be the same or can it be better.

Sabrina, has her successful career, ex-pro ball player husband, 2 kids and all seems to be perfect until she is faced with the fact that her husband has an affair, then she faced with the fact a family may seem perfect but isn't and has to deal what the next step. Without giving away too much. I like how she took a stand and stayed true to herself. You will also find in this story that there are superficial people, and those that love to see your world broken.

I would've like to hear Sean's point of view in this.

Great read and would recommend this story and author!

I laughed – I cried – I loved it!

Sabrina Jacobs is Everywoman -- well, every woman I know who is married with children. I connected so immediately with Sabrina that sometimes I wondered if Jackson had peeked into my own head.

Although Bounce is set in a very upscale suburb of New York City, any woman of any ethnic or social background can identify with her: The nagging sense that even though you are doing all the ‘right’ things, things somehow just aren’t…right; Recognizing absurdity of many of our modern social conventions and yet somehow still feeling compelled to excel at them; trying so hard to balance your life, and still having things spin out of control. These are the problems that every woman faces. Kudos to Jackson for a story that sets them all in perspective – no matter how perfect your neighbor’s life looks from the outside, up close and personal it’s a whole different story.

Bounce just became my very favorite married-with-children story!

Jackson's slick novel reads fast and does a great job creating the privileged world of a high powered financial advisor living in a prestigious suburb with her two adorable children and handsome, sports anchor husband. The complex emotions and reactions that Sabrina Jacobs has upon learning of her husband's affair do a service to the importance of the relationship and family at the center of her heart. "Bounce" is a story of Sabrina's journey toward self-knowledge, which ultimately enriches not only her own life, but those of her loved ones as well. As an adult romance, the novel doesn't shy away from the passionate side of Sabrina's life, and each scene rings true to where the relationship is at any given moment. Jackson is clearly a excellent writer with a long and successful career ahead.

Bree is a pro at denying impulse, which worked in her favor and created a smooth an beautiful life...right up until the moment her husband cheats. With impulse control askew--and impulses rife with the grief of a woman's shock--she tries to mask her dismay with guilt. When that unravels, she leaps into the scary world of honesty, both with herself and with others. This is a tale of a woman coming to know herself again, learning to trust her anger and instincts and regaining the strength for a big life decision. KM Jackson writes with raw honesty tempered with humor and insight. So much in this story felt so real and true I was surprised not to find myself in leafy Westchester when the story ended! Engrossing read!

I keep telling my friends about this book. I wouldn't call it romance. I think it's more in the women's fiction category. Whichever, I found it to be well written and realistic. The heartache, the emotions, the love-it all pulled me in. For a moment I wanted Sabrina to get over her husband's cheating. Then I realized, heartbreak doesn't just disappear. And when you've been betrayed, working through that is serious business. Ms. Jackson brought Sabrina to life. And while her husband was flawed, and we never heard his voice, I found myself pissed off at him, but rooting for them as a couple. Job well done, Ms. Jackson!!

I read this book in one gulp, unable to put it down to even attend to basic needs. This was, in short, utterly addicting. I did not want it to end.

Although I've never experienced anything like the characters in this book did, the author had a way of making a worst case scenario feel like something anyone could experience. Everything Sabrina felt, the anger she carried around with her, it was all so relatable, it felt like walking in someone else's shoes. The subject matter is heavy, and at times it was heartbreaking to read. But the author blended in enough humor so that you never felt weighed down, and the ending was satisfying but realistic. I just hope there's a sequel in the future!

***This is another biased review. But biased only because I know the author and consider her a good friend.***

Bounce is a wonderful story about a marriage on the rocks. While this is a traditional romance topic - Jackson takes a unique route using middle aged characters with long a long developed relationship, children, etc.

This isn't your typical romance and skates so close to reality - it hits home emotionally -- at least it did for me.

This is a great romantic read that you don't want to miss.

I loved Bounce, from start to finish I couldn't put it down. I shared tears and anger with Sabrina over Sean. Changed my mind over and over again how I hoped it would end....in the end I cried tears of happiness. I highly recommend this book it's characters are easy to envision, easy love or hate. It made me wonder what would I do if I was suddenly Sabrina. Another hit by K.M. Jackson ....can't wait for the next book!

Well, either the blurb changed since I bought this or I paid no attention to what I was buying (hint: it's probably me).

This isn't a typical Romance - I'd day it's not really a Romance at all. It's the story of the aftermath of marital infidelity and the attempt to rebuild that relationship.

From the other reviews I've read since I started reading, those who love angst should read this. Me? This isn't my thing at all. I'm really more into the discovery and not the drama.

Wow .. This was a well written story. As I'm reading the story I can feel all of her emotions. It's crazy what she went through. All the feelings that the situation caused her to have was something else. Although it's a story meant to entertain I can't help but wonder is this how women who have gone through this feel in real life? I'd recommend this book.

Endearing characters & real life scenerios are just a couple of things that make this such an enjoyable read. K.M Does a great job of illustrating the heart wrenching process of deciding to start over or get over!
