SCARED: An Amazing Ride of Constant Thrills, Chills and Emotion — Justin Wright Suspense Series - Book 4

Rate this book
IT’S BEEN 15 YEARS SINCE JUSTIN’S NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE, and life has changed dramatically for the Wright family.

Michael, now a psychologist, has a past that’s catching up with him at the same time an unsatisfied patient is planning his revenge. Justin, now practicing from his home office, has a patient consumed by the fear of death — a young man scared of just about everything — including fear itself.

As both father and son deal with their patients’ problems and own internal challenges, they also struggle daily with Mandy’s health issue, a potentially deadly illness that threatens to take away the most important woman in their lives.

Like every other Justin Wright book, “Scared” brings you into a suspense-filled world loaded with emotion, uncertainty and, of course, mind games. It’s a story rife with complicated people, some who are not only vengeful, but scared — of both life...and death.

As I'm a huge fan of Kaufman's work, I was ecstatic to read the 4th book in this series! It's another creepy thrill ride with the Wright family as Justin's son Michael is treating people even as his mother, Mandy is battling her own health issues. It's just a wonderfully fascinating and often convoluted tale about family, trust, infidelity, and of course "crazy" people who need more therapy than one could ever imagine! If you haven't read Kaufman before, I recommend starting with the first in this series but each can be read as a stand-alone as well, as there is plenty of back-story given. And now my heart is racing waiting for #5 as this family has been through hell and always continues to bounce back!
Thanks to the author for this ARC!

From book 1, this has been traumatic experience after traumatic experience. I would have thought that with Justin healing from book 3, and now Michael, finally (seemingly) moving on from his traumatic past and creating his own family; that we’d see a semblance of hope for the Wrights. That just doesn’t appear to be the case.

Despite their trauma, the Wrights remain resilient and hopeful. This family has endured pain for what seems like decades. From the disappearance of one, to the death of another, they find ways to cope and lean on each other for the peace they long. Yet, it seems like trauma and heartache will not escape this family for a mere second.

This book truly brought out the tears, especially during the last 4 chapters or so. Experiencing all of the loss the Wrights have gone through from book 1, to seeing them in the most vulnerable states as they lose yet another one of their own, was just unbearable, especially considering all they have been through. It seems this family can never catch a break.

Moving onto book 5 now, and I am hoping that there is a good chance of peace and joy for the family after they experience this most recent loss.

Book #4 of The Justin Wright Series!

I have enjoyed every book in this series and book #4 did not disappoint. It ended on a cliffhanger and information about another book coming May 2024! I can’t wait to read it!

Father and son, Justin and Michael are both psychologist that help people thru difficult times in their lives all while dealing with the things that are happening in their own lives. Justin is watching his wife Mandy navigate thru the ups and downs of cancer and wanting to do everything to take it all away and to live a longer life with her. Michael is dealing with a failing marriage along with watching his mother getting weaker with cancer. He is also saddened by decreased time with his son due to the separation. He misses being able to be there with his son for their usual morning and nighttime routines each and every day.

The books in this series will make you feel each character’s thoughts and emotions and keep you reading late into the night. I will be reading book #5 as soon as it is released! I highly recommend this series!

This was the fourth installment of the Jeremy Wright Suspense Series by Rob Kaufman. It is a continuation of the previous installments that follows renowned psychiatrist, Justin Wright and his family and friends. In this book, the Wright family continues to be plagued by problems in their lives. They've been through so much already. Justin is my favorite character because he's so dedicated to his work, his wife and son. He's the kind of man many women would want in a husband. He's the kind of doctor patients would believe and trust. Story keeps you engaged the whole way through until the last page. And I did not see the ending coming. This book and the entire series is believable, compelling and masterfully written. Rob Kaufman has quickly become one of my favorite authors. Highly recommend this book and the entire series. Books obviously need to be read in sequence in order to understand the story. There is a fifth book coming out in May of this year entitled Deceived. Can't wait to read it!

I so enjoyed this psychological thriller about Justin, his son Michael, and his wife, Mandy who all undergo tragedy and loss, particularly with ongoing threats surrounding their lives.

The story jumps 15 years, and shows you how Michael is now a Psychologist who has his own fair share of trouble with a particular client. His father, Justin also struggles with his client as a Psychiatrist, and you keep thinking that this poor family can never catch a break.

The characters are authentic and diverse, and the plot, as always is intriguing and page-turning. The only critique would be that a bit of a summary of what happened in the earlier series would have helped to enjoy the story more. It's hard to remember what happened in the previous story, so a bit of a refresher is always a good idea to remind us.

This story is so highly recommended after reading the previous books in the series, so that it makes sense.

This series just gets better and better! Book Four, SCARED, did not disappoint as the storyline/characters beautifully transitioned from one book to the next. I didn’t need to spend time trying to remember who was who and how they fit into the story. Kaufman has a way of bringing all the characters to life with nail-biting suspense. It is so well written that it’s impossible to put down! Kudos to you, Rob, for writing the best series I’ve read in a long time! I can’t wait for Book Five to be released!!

Not quite the best in the series

Maybe it's just me, but too many times I felt the story got too bogged down with so many sub plots and "meanwhiles" . I almost started losing interest, but sat through all the endless arguments anyway. The ending should not have come as a surprise...I actually expected it. I won't say any more, and will move onto Scared to see who's next to be tormented by these unstable players.

Scared

Another excellent book by Rob Kaufman. How one author can write so many 5 out of 5 books is amazing. To leave us in such a suspense waiting on his next book is mean 😁. Better get here fast.

Terrific

Like all the previous books in this series it kept me at the edge of my seat. Another read that was as suspenseful as it was emotional. Cutting this short so I can start the last read in this series. Yes Rob Kaufman has another forever fan.

Another great story

This series keeps getting better. It was so sad but I love the relationship. Blossoming between Michael and Janelle. Justin is still the best psychiatrist out there though. Went through another rough patch with a patient t but he ended up okay. Great story!!

Book 4 in Justin Wright series by Rob Kaufman. It is remarkable as the other three in the series. My favorite part about this author is that he takes everyday situations with likable characters that can endure extraordinary situations. He draws you with his characters and the human psyche that you feel heart-wrenching emotional connection and at the same time an exciting and addictive thriller. Absolutely brilliantly executed, he is a master at balancing the two. A great read.
