I was the first one on the team to get married.

I was the first one of us to have a kid.

I was also the first one of us whose marriage went up in flames, making me the team's first single dad.

Yeah, not one of my better saves.

Not that I'm complaining. My daughter is my life. I'd do anything for her but let's be real, being a single dad to a four-year-old and the star-goalie for the Chicago Red Tails is no easy feat. If my parents weren’t around to help out I don’t know what I would do, but they aren’t getting any younger. The season is about to get into full swing and Elsie is starting preschool which means I need a new plan.

So, when my teammates suggest a full-time nanny, I'm open to the idea.

The best candidate for the job is kind, energetic, compassionate, and fun. But fate is testing me because she’s also smoking hot. I can hardly keep my eyes—much less my hands—off of her. I have to though because she's perfect for my daughter.

The problem is...

I think she might also be perfect for me.

I mean, the one-sitting books have to be 5⭐️ right??? Can’t believe this is the last book of this series (I think). I have loved them all and am obsessed with all six NHL players and their friendship and banter. 🤩 I couldn’t wait for Zeke’s book because he definitely deserved to find someone after his ex-wife left him shortly after Elsie was born. 😒 Ada and Zeke are PERFECT. A MMC that reads romance books to know what his girls wants??? No notes!

+NHL pro/single dad & live-in nanny
+Second chance (a la previously divorced & widowed)
+Chosen fam (cutest kid ever in Elsie)
+Slow burn
+HEA

This is the last book in the Chicago Red Tails series. They can all be read as standalones.

Zeke knows his parents aren't getting any younger and needs to start looking for a nanny. He doesn't have much luck until Kinsley recommends her friend Ada for the job. When Zeke sees Ada he can't stop staring. He keeps saying he's going to keep his hand off the nanny but will he?

Zeke is such a sweetheart. Zeke stepping up and taking care of his daughter proves he's an amazing father. The interview process was hysterical. The fact that Zeke had to ask Ada those questions was great. I love how Ada jumped into action with Elsie even before she was hired. Finally Zeke can feel comfortable enough to sleep without worrying. It's so cute how Zeke gets tongue tied around Ada. What a cute story. This is the perfect way to end the Chicago Red Tails series.

Tropes~ single-dad/nanny, forced proximity, second chance at love, hockey romance

✨ I have loved this entire series such heartwarming fun , fast books to read. These books always have me laughing out loud and smiling the whole time.

✨I was so excited to finally get Zeke’s book but I am gutted it’s the last one in the series. Zeke and Ada immediately had chemistry and despite both having a difficult past it was clear they both deserved the happiness the finally got.

✨Elsie was such a fun little character and I loved seeing all the friendships between the guys ans girls although Dex is always going to remain my favourite. Such a fun end to the series and I can’t wait for the Anaheim stars, I hope we start off with Oliver’s book!!

DNF

DNF 1⭐️

8 chapters and the last one was enough.🤷‍♀️
It literally went from good book to lower and lower.

I feel like main characters don’t age - it’s always 30, 32 or 33 and nothing is happening during any other books, always after one prior is finished.
Also, they just met and are attract to each other that it’s kinda hard for them to think straight 🤦🏼‍♀️ Damn, it’s not kindergarten!!!!
Ohhh, and dialogues. So cringe 😬

Zeke Freaking Miller! This man is everything, and I mean everything. Sexy, sweet, caring, and possessive. I absolutely loved this book so much as much as I was not ready for this series to end this ending. It wasn't so dang perfect. I can't say enough how much I love the characters in this world they will stick with me forever.

This is the first book of this series I’ve read and IMMEDIATELY I have to go back and read the rest! I’m so picky about the single dad/nanny trope and this is it done PERFECTLY! I enjoyed this book so much!

Must admit to plowing through the series (and the next) in a month. Sort of addicted to hockey romance (keen fan / season ticket holder), love the down to earth characters and their amusing love stories 💕

I have loved Zeke since book 1 of the series, so getting his story was the perfect conclusion to the series. I am always a sucker for single dad/nanny trope, so that definitely didn’t hurt. I loved this from beginning to end, but I will miss getting to spend time with these characters now that I have finished the series.

What a sweet story for Zeke, Elsie and Ada! There was a bit of heat, a small pain and a crazy ex. All made for an excellent story!!

Sweet, sweet Zeke. After a failed marriage, he resigned himself that he is the only guy alone in his team, all the other guys found the one and are happy with their significant other. His main problem is how to take care of his daughter when he is away on game day, his parents are getting old and he would like to spend more time with her when he gets home. His friends sugest to get a nanny, they even help to pick one. Problem is picking the right one is harder than he thinks. Thankfully the wife of one of his friends knows the perfect person for the job.
Enters Ada. Widow, her husband died in the army 3 years ago, she is trying to rebuild her life, first step moving away, second one: therapy and the third one: find her confidence (a boudoir foot shoot can help).
She is the perfect candidate for Zeke and his daughter Elsie.
Only problem is she is hot and Zeke definitely noticed. And after seeing her boudoir 📷 by accident she is the only thing he can think of.
A small injury at one of his games benches him for a while, and when he makes a sudden move trying to get to his daughter his pain resurface and asks Ada to give him a massage, only problem is that the pain is at his groin and she accidentally brushes her hand over his 🍆. Caught in the moment he kisses her, puts her on his lap and they dry hump. The moment is over she feels guilty, he is the first one she's been with after her husband's death.
After a few days they get to talk and decide to take things slow. This is the moment where Zeke decides to call his lawyer and try to find his wife( who left his daughter alone while she was sleeping and she wrote him a note that she is not made to be a hockey player wife) and divorce her once and for all.
On his birthday Ada surprises him bringing his daughter to his game and she makes matching 👕 for her and Elise(with his name on her back an Daddy on Elise's).
The moment he saws them is game on: this is the night they sleep together.
One day out of the blue Lori shows up unaonced at the door, Ada finds out that Zeke never told her he is still married, she 📞 him, in his rush to get 🏡 he get in a car accident, but is unharmed. They talk and decide to fight together, knowing that the only reason Lori is back is because she wants money. She doesn't get them in the end.
On her birthday she gets a new 👕 from him and on the back is Mrs Miller, and and she looks at him he is on his knees proposing. And Elsie gives her a bracelet with mommy on it and papers to adopt her.
This is the moment when Dex also propos finally.

REVIEW:
Bonus Game is the sixth and final book about the romance between the single dad Zeke Miller and the nanny Ada Lewis. There were many heartwarming moments between Elsie and Ada that I enjoyed reading because that little girl really needed a mother figure. A moment that I enjoyed was when Ada met Elsie for the first time and they hit it off right away which after both of them spending so much time together their relationship became stronger. Another moment that I enjoyed had been when Zeke finally divorced his wife once and for all so that he could propose marriage to Ada.

A heartwarming moment had been when Zeke gave her adoption papers for Elsie on her birthday. There were also very lovely moments between Zeke and Elsie that showed how much he loved his daughter which would include doing anything he could to make her happy. I did feel like their love story was a bit slow at times. The part where his wife came back to get his money when he served her divorce papers did not feel right to the plot of the story but at least it worked out in the end for them both.

And they all lived happily ever after

This was the final instalment of the Red Tails series and Zeke and Adas story was the perfect one to end it on

Zeke needs help with his 4 year old daughter when hes away, Ada is hired as the nanny, if you know anything about the Red Tails Team youll know that love tends to appear in very unlikely places.

This story gave me all the feels and had some lol moments from previous characters and the main characters too

🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶there is spice
❤❤❤❤❤many awww moments
and one very intelligent and spunky 4 year old

I have loved Susans Red Tails series and look forward to reading more of her books, its funny that one random scrolling session on tiktok looking for book reads can lead you to a series that ends up becoming an addiction💥💥💥

As with previous books in the series there is an epilogue which can be downloaded and it is most definitely worth a read, i have loved these added extras and has been nice to get a small peek into life after the story ends

Thank you Susan these are books I will most definitely read again I think Dex and Zeke are my joint favourites though 😂😂

📚: Bonus Game by Susan Renee

Tropes:
👉 Hockey
👉 Single Dad/Nanny
👉 Forced Proximity

TWs 😟: Mentions of child abandonment

Main Takeaway 🏹: I’m so sad this series is over!

Synopsis 📜: Zeke has been a single dad for years and has been relying on his parents to help with his daughter after her mother abandoned her. But his parents deserve to enjoy retirement so he decides to try and find a full time nanny. Enter Ada, a widow who Kinsley introduces him to. She is perfect for his daughter and she may just be perfect for him as well.

Personal Thoughts 🤔: I have absolutely loved this series (and everything else Susan has ever written) and Zeke did not disappoint. He tries so hard to handle everything life has thrown at him since his wife left them but he lights up like a Christmas tree the moment he meets Ada. I loved the way just meeting each other makes them both instantly happier in life and the relationship they both have with Elsie is adorable! I can’t wait to see what Susan has up her sleeves next for us!

It's hockey season... and what's hockey season without some hockey romance! I have to say, I really like this series. It's a comfortable hockey series. I love the characters; I love the team.

There's humor... Zeke drunk texting Ada... Elsie learning swears from her hockey uncles...hockey players in tutus...

There's drama... The individual hurt Ada and Zeke have to navigate... Zeke freaking out about falling for his nanny... Ada freaking out about falling for her boss...

There's spice... and the spice is good without being over the top.

I really enjoy the way Renee writes in her former MCs to act as support, especially in a team setting. The way the other players and WAGs rally around Zeke and Ada separately, showing the reader the relationships/developing relationships, is done very well. Its also nice to see glimpses of where those characters are and what's going on in those lives.

All and all...good book, good series... 10/10 totally recommend for a nice, cozy hockey romance.

I got the ick from Zeke on page 61. Ada has been a nanny for a week and he said he’s excited to get home to see Ada but then went “ I mean Elsie” who is his daughter. Idk like you’re more excited to see the nanny than your daughter that you say you miss and hate you can’t spend a lot of time with?! Just no.

Ada has a photo album of “sexy pictures” of herself and Zeke looks at them and basically falls in love. It was off putting to me. Then he starts losing his hockey games because he can’t stop thinking about this photo album. Good lord.

They kiss super early on, with no chemistry. Or maybe cuz I don’t like either one of them. I don’t know why. THEN a month into her being a nanny, Ada and Zeke are texting and Zeke is drunk and confesses he saw her photos. And the way he was texting was so gross to me. Very childish.

Don’t even get me started on the ending of the book. This book was really rushed and I really wanted to like it because single dad tropes are chefs kiss but this one didn’t do it for me.

Honestly, between the really bad grammar, the desperate need for an editor, and the insta-lust bordering on insta-love, this book was painful. Like I thought the book before this was a 5 star and now I'm rethinking that review if only because there's no way the next book in the series is that bad comparatively. Obviously, I blacked out during the reading of the previous book.

I wanted to like this. Who doesn't enjoy a good single dad x nanny romance, and you add in hockey? It should be crack for me. Instead I was bored and annoyed. To be frank, the dialogue between Zeke and his daughter drove me so far up the wall that it didn't matter what his relationship with Ada was like. Maybe I just have bad experiences with real-life father figures.

Needless to say, I'm rethinking reading any other books in this series and whether I really did black out during the reading of Saving the Game to warrant it getting 5 stars out of me.

Zeke’s book was a sweet way to end the series, especially when he definitely deserved it!

And to end it with the nanny! Even better!

But in all seriousness, Zeke and Ada were such a joy to read. They healed each other in ways they didn’t even know they could. They brought each other back from the dead and made each other believe in happiness and love again. And their love for one little girl is so incredible. Plus what’s a little bit of forbiddance that is always nice. Especially, when you’ve accidentally looked at the naughty pics your nanny took of herself.

And let’s face it, the group of friend/family that has become the four starters of the Red Tails is still a fun read. Now I can’t figure out whose group chat I love more, the girls or the boys!

So if if you enjoy the hockey genre with the nanny mixed, you’ll enjoy Bonus Game!

Zeke and Ada are my new favorite couple! This book has been my favorite in the chicago red tails series! It had the perfect mix of plot, character development, romance and spice!
Zeke is the hot, single dad goalie who's wife left him and their newborn baby. He steps up to be the best dad he can be focused on only his daughter and his carrer. But with his busy schedule hes on the road alot and misses his daughter. So he decides to hire a nanny. Thats where Ada comes in.
Ada is a widower trying to find her footing again. After losing her husband she decides to move to a new place and start over. Her friend, who makes an apperence in one of the other Red Tails book, recommends her for the job and she is a perfect fit.
Zeke and Ada both feel the attraction and try their best to fight it, but when they finally give in to temptation the fun begins!

HEA
Standalone, interconnected characters *over 18 readers only*
Sports Romance, Single Dad/ Nanny
Chicago Red Tails series

Trigger/Content warning
Parental Abandonment
Death of spouse (KIA)
Drug mentions

Zeke (mmc)
Ada (mfc)
Elsie (child of mmc)
Lori (ex of mmc)

Zeke has been raising Elsie by himself ever since her mother Lori walked out on them. She didn't just walk out, though. She left Elsie home alone in her crib when she was just a baby. Zeke's lawyer has been looking for her for almost 4 years. When he hires Ada as Elsie's nanny, things get complicated. She's grieving the death of her husband, still, after 3 years. But the attraction is there. He's still legally married. This is going to blow up in everyone's face.

I knew it was coming. 85% through and it's still a gut punch. But hold on to your hat/ kindle/paperback. This book still has surprises.

They say good things come to those who wait and I was so happy with the 6th book of this series. I loved seeing Zeke finally get his happily ever after and Elsie have the mom she didn’t realize she was missing. It was the cherry on top of this great series.

While Susan Renee says you don’t have to read them in order, I am going to politely disagree. Since they all build off of each other - I think it’s better to start at the beginning and work your way through.
My average rating for this series was ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/3. Easy reads, swoon worthy hockey guys with the biggest hearts. The FMC also stand their own ground, which is nice. They aren’t damsels in distress, but strong women finding their HEA.

More like 3.5 stars. Two of my favorite tropes (hockey and single parent) joined up with my absolute worst trope (my spouse died and I'll never move on). I really liked the story, and the characters, but almost put it away when Ada went back to her room crying and feeling like she had cheated on her husband. If the talk with Kinsey hadn't happened immediately I would have walked away from the book. I also had an issue with Ada's first reaction to the news Zeke was actually divorced, but that was quickly settled. That whole ending with Lori was kind of unnecessary; yes, she needed to be written out of their lives for good, but it just seemed a bit over the top. All this doesn't change the fact that I really liked the Red Tails series and plan on continuing with the Anaheim Stars.

Every time I read a book by this author, I don't think I can laugh more or harder than I did with the last book, but she gets me every time! As sad as I am that this series is done, I know she has more books coming and can't wait to jump into those. Zeke, Ada, and Elsie's story was so sweet and funny. I absolutely loved every bit of it and how much everyone cares about each other throughout the entire series. I'm so proud of Zeke being the father he is while still being able to focus on his career. I love how Zeke and Ada came together and how their relationship grew. There are so many funny but loving parts of this story, it's definitely a must read!

I love this book so much! I was late in the game as far as finding the series but once I did, I’ve been hooked! I have loved watching each of the guys find their strong counterparts. Their found family is definitely one of my faves. When it came to Zeke, I wanted only the best for him. I was kind of possessive over him, but knew that Susan wouldn’t let me down. Ada is his perfect match in every way. The way that she loves Elsie and perfectly fits into their lives made me swoon. I’m a sucker for a single dad/nanny book but this one will be one of my faves for a very very long time! Definitely go read this!

Ahhhh!!

Such a great story! Ada was such a wonderful edition to the Red Tails family!

She and Zeke were so good together! From meeting to be his daughter’s nanny to becoming his wife and daughter’s forever mom they went on a beautiful journey together.

Zeke put a ring on it the fastest of them all I think lol seven or eight months into their relationship 😂😂 but when you know and you’re ready why wait?

The Dex and Tatum addendum proposal was perfect too! (Have to read to understand!

I loved the impression of the look on Lori’s face she had to sign the divorce papers with nothing bahahaha!

What a great ending to a series! 🥰🥰

So fucking good

Honestly, this may be my favorite book in the entire series. Hardstop. Ada and Zeke are literally goals. The way that they were just cosmically drawn to each other, and even though Ada had been through a horrible loss and grief in her life, she was able to find love and comfortable with Zeke. And the fact that Zeke was open to finding love himself, and didn’t shy away from Ada and drag out a long drawn out storyline that would’ve just ruined the book. Instead, they recognize their feelings they dealt with it. They talked it out. They fell in love. It was fucking fantastic. And don’t forget that the spice was spicy.

The last of the Red Tails. tear. This series has brought me so much joy. On to Zeke’s story. He is such a devoted daddy. Nothing but the best care for Elsie. Turns out the best care for Elsie is also the best for him 😏. Zeke and Ada both need a second chance and I loved how they worked through their baggage together. Elsie is a huge bright spot in this story for me. To be reminded of how sweet and innocent little tykes can be just warms my heart. If you haven’t read of the Red Tails yet, you need to get on that pronto.

The Redtails wrapped their series with this 5 star read! Zeke's story was perfect! Characters are established, believable, relatable, hilarious, and most of all....real.

I haven't read a lot of nanny romances but this one was awesome. Really, the characters are so well written and the story was so amazing. In all honesty, a tad rushed in spots, but those spots are few and far between.

The spice....oh man...the spice. It is spot on and hot as all....well..iykyk.

Great story. Great characters. Great writing. Highly recommend this entire series

I want to be honest. This has been a 4 stars series for me, I loved each one. That being said, if this book had ended at the 85% mark and not gone where it did I would have loved it, but it didn't and I didn't. It feels wrong to allow 15% of the book to ruin it completely but it is what it is.

I love Ada, I love Zeke and I love Elsie. It is a slow burn, with lots of passion!! When the spice hits it's 🔥🔥🔥! I would call this a 'learning to love and live again' story, not a second-chance romance <3

Zeke is overwhelmed as a single dad and star goalie for the Chicago Redtails. His friends convince him to hire a nanny. It wouldn't be a romance story if the dad and nanny didn't fall for each other. It's a trope, so it's not really a spoiler I suppose. I will say that the banter between everyone is superb. The text exchanges can sometimes get annoying in books, but not this one. Ada is a great FMC, a widow looking to move on with her life, she falls hard for Zeke and Elsie. Elsie is a joy in every interaction. Another great addition to this series.

Susan Renee did it again

I fell in love with the Chicago Red Tails in the entirely wrong order. Milo and Charlene’s story is one I have returned to repeatedly so I was so excited to get Zeke and Ada’s story! Their relationship was so sweet and Elsie was the cutest and best character. I loved seeing how quickly Ada fell into her nanny role with her love of Elsie.

Also, Ada becoming one of the girls?! Such. Fun story line. You can’t go wrong with this book. It’s a cute, sexy, and spicy hockey romance that you won’t want to put down!
