A previous cover edition for this ASIN can be found here

Becoming a nanny for my best friend's hot single dad seems like a no-brainer.

Jack, my best friend's estranged firefighter dad, returned after 15 years. Loyalty urged me to despise him as much as she did.

But in a twist of events, I became a nanny to his younger daughter. My animosity fizzles out as his chiseled body and irresistible charm light my desire.

One wild night with him, and more than our clothes caught fire. I learn that he handles hoses like a pro, leaving me breathless both on and off duty.

He may be the walking fantasy who sets my body ablaze, but losing my best friend would turn my whole world to ashes.

I knew giving in to him would end in fire...now I'm hoping no one gets singed.

I need to bank this wildfire affair before both relationships go up in flames.

But I'm willing to get burned by the firefighter too hot to handle.

Cassandra works in a coffee shop in New Mexico. Her best friend is Sarah. I'm thinking they're both the same age, the story read that Sarah is 23yrs old. Sarah has an estranged relationship with her Dad, Jack. He left her behind after his marriage to Sarah's mother ended in a bad divorce. So now he is trying to make up for that mistake and loss of time he made with her 15yrs ago. Sarah does turn to him when her Mom passes away. She doesn't have anyone else. Also, Sarah has a lot of hurt to work through.

Which brings me to Cassandra meeting and having an attraction for Jack in the coffee shop. He's older, by 19yrs. He's very attractive. He also shows interest in her. He's a firefighter. But Jack has a secret. He didn't share it until Sarah sees him with a 9 month old baby. His other daughter Grace. Big surprise!! This man has no idea how to care for a baby. He tries. Jack always wants to feed her fish for some reason.😄 Sarah does go to live with Cassandra out of anger, but nominates Cassie as being a nanny for little Grace while Jack works. Why didn't Sarah do this herself? For me, Sarah wasn't the most likable person. What does she do all day? Also, Jack and Cassandra start a heated secret relationship.🔥🔥 That's trouble with a capital T.🙈 What will happen once Sarah catches them together in her Dad's house?! Is this the end of her friendship with Sarah? Her relationship with Jack? This reminded me of a good soap opera. Remember those? Or a telenovela. Love those!! And I mean this as a positive compliment.📺🙊

This wasn't a bad story. It needed more character development for the FMC imo. We got to know Jack and Sarah. For example: what does Cassie look like? More details please. What is her background, her interests, what is her personality really like. I know she's smart b/c that young lady called out Jack on his bs.💩 Bring more of that. When Cassie got hurt in a fire, where were her parents? She mentioned her Dad at one point, why was he not there in the hospital with her? Jack on the other hand was a hot mess. That guy was all over the place. lol He may be older but it seems like he's barely hanging on with everything in his life. I'm curious, why does he take his shirt off before going into a blazing building? Honestly, I think he needed to work on himself first before trying anything with Cassandra or any woman. But then what would be the point of the story. I know. Like I wrote before, it's not bad, it just needs a little bit more build and structure. Great book cover btw. Overall 3.8 stars.✨✨✨

🧑🏻‍🚒Thank you for an early book via Booksprout. This is my honest feedback on this story.🧑🏻‍🚒.

A Second Chance at Love—Romantic and Familial

When New Mexico native Jack Combs and his school sweetheart—now ex-wife—first connected in high school, their passion was pure fire. So, it was no surprise that they were parents at 19. But their love and commitment seemed strong, even while trying to juggle a relationship, a child and college—at different locations. But, what they hadn’t anticipated was that in order to remain a couple, they needed share a common vision of life and love. So, their individual growth needed to align to remain a family with a child.

But, by the time their little girl, Sarah, was 8, Jack’s wife announced that she wanted love with another man. And while it broke his heart and went against all his instincts, he gave his young sweetheart, his young wife, the mother of his child, what she wanted—her freedom to find love and happiness—in the arms of another man. And, so he left—his wife, his job and his child. But, what he didn’t anticipate was that his ex’s new husband didn’t want to be a dad to Jack’s sweet Sarah. And so, the loss of fatherly love which was replace by neglect in the young girl’s life, was impactful.

But now, 15 years later, Jack is back to reclaim his life—his hometown—and his daughter. For an experienced firefighter, his skills and experience are welcomed by the local fire station and town. And, reintegrating in the familiar community isn’t a challenge. But the challenge is Sarah, his daughter, who is angry—angry that her parents’ marriage fell apart, angry that her dad left her, and angry that now that he is back, dad wants to be a happy family after 15 years of absence.

And just as Jack attempts to reconnect with his estranged adult daughter, the handsome firefighter discovers that he is a father again from a temporary hookup. But, he has learned his lessons about the damage caused by being an absent dad. So, when he learns of the pregnancy, he steps in. But, this time the challenge is with mom’s drug use—which Jack is able to halt during pregnancy. But after Grace’s birth, mom old habits re-immerge and her addiction to the money of dealing drugs emerges. So, by the time Grace is 9-months-old daughter, mom has been arrested on a narcotics charge, and Jack doesn’t hesitate to step up as a parent, taking responsibility for his baby girl. But, he doesn’t share the news with Sarah that she has a baby sister. He knows that his current relationship with Sarah isn’t ready for the news of sisterhood.

So, when Sarah needs to get a package to dad, she chooses a neutral location—the diner—and a neutral courier—her best friend Cassandra. What Sarah didn’t anticipate that her best friend and her dad connect in ways that no one anticipates—certainly not Sarah who doesn’t want her dad’s attention to waver from her again. And while Jack doesn’t want to anger Sarah with news of baby Grace, he will not neglect another daughter, especially if Cassandra agrees to help him by babysitting for the sweet toddler while he works his shift at the fire station. What dad and best friend don’t factor is that their growing closeness might also alarm Sarah.

Kathy Asher offers the reader a sweet tale of second chances at love and family. The tale would benefit from a tighter plot narrative and a closer reading for grammar. But, I would like to read the author’s next effort.

Cassandra and Jack meet and instantly feel a burning attraction for each other. But Jack is trying to get back into the good graces of his estranged daughter, Sarah, and Cassandra knows there is no way Sarah won't feel betrayed to find her best friend and the father she can't forgive for abandoning her, being together and keeping it a secret.

I knew going into this it was gonna be drama and angst but I was expecting a slow building up, some inner struggle to resist their taboo feelings but instead we have a pushy heroine who is always doing the chasing and making the first move and a Hero who claims to not want to hurt anyone but always managing to make the worse decisions that lead to hurting people.

After the second "mistake" between Cassandra and Jack, I started to loose interest. Things happened too fast without any build up between the MCs other than quickie sex followed by immediate regret and guilt. Rinse and repeat. It was more lust than love because outside of the bedroom, there was very little one on one time between Jack and Cassandra. I needed more romance and more of an emotional connection to really root for them.

Sarah was the only character that acted consistent. I sympathized with her and get why it was hard for her to let Jack close - being abandoned by her father, left to feel punished for her parent's failed marriage would cause anyone wariness to let that person back into her life. It was a bit of a cop out that a near death experience wipes the slate clean and all is forgiven, without actually giving us on page closure between father and daughter. Even the fall out when they are found out it worked out between Sarah and Cassandra first.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Steamy Firefighter Romance

Cassandra works in a café and is asked to take a delivery for her best friend Sarah, and pass it to her dad; but when she sees him the sparks fly. When they run in to each other again the shared attraction is obvious, but they hold back (mostly) due to Sarah.

Jack is Sarah's estranged father who got in touch again 6 years ago when he started working as a firefighter. She's staying with him while looking for a place to live, though she refuses to speak him. That is until he brings home his other daughter, a 9-month old baby, that she didn't know about and she moves in with Cassandra.

When Sarah realises that he needs a babysitter for Grace, she mentions that Cassandra is looking for day work. With the attraction simmering between them can Cassandra be in his house and look after Grace; and how will Sarah react when she realises how they both feel?

A lovely story, with a slow build heated romance, humor, misunderstandings, a sweet baby and a great HEA.

Cassandra and Sarah are friends and work together at a coffee shop. Sarah had a rough childhood and has recently reconnected with her dad after they were estranged for 15 years. Cassandra is struck by Sarah's dad Jack, when he comes into the coffee shop. She's attracted to him, which feels a little weird to her since he's some 19 years older than she is. Jack has another surprise though: he is also caring for his 9-month-old baby daughter Grace. Well, he's trying to care for her, but it's hard with his work hours. Sarah is upset when she finds out about the little girl, but also wants her cared for and suggests that Cassandra can do it. Cassandra and Jack end up starting up a secret relationship. What could possibly go wrong? Will Cassandra get the love of her life or end up alone and without her best friend?

Best Friend's Firefighter Dad is a steamy, instalove, OTT, age-gap, forbidden, girl gets her Dad's best friend romance. Cassandra (Cassie) is a 23 waitress and best friend to Sarah. Jack is a hunky, 42 year old Firefighter and Sarah's Dad. Sarah has a difficult relationship with her dad. But when Cassie and Jack meet for the first time, they are instantly attracted to one another. Jack also has a 9 month old daughter, and Sarah asks Cassie to help babysit, and she agrees. Jack and Cassie become closer, and their chemistry is pure fire. But what happens when Sarah finds out? This story had a lot of angst and drama, but we do finally end on a happy note. This was a new author for me and I loved it!.

Not my favorite

Firefighter Jack screwed up his relationship with his daughter some fifteen years ago and has been trying to repair it, while providing for an infant daughter that he recently learned was the product of a new relationship. Soon he’s pursuing his daughter’s Sarah’s BFF. So much angst between father and older daughter, and Cassandra the BFF. I had a hard time having the storyline hold my attention that was punctuated with arguments between father and daughter and Cassandra and Jack wavering between their romantic encounters and not speaking to one another. The storyline was predictable and had editing errors. All in all, just an okay read.

5 stars of awesomeness

If you love age gap romance then you will love Jack & Cassandra's story. He's a single dad firefighter & she's best friend's with his older daughter. The connection between them is instant & oh so hot. Will they give in to temptation & cross that line? What will Cassandra's best friend say when she finds out that Cassandra has the hots for her dad? I highly recommend giving their story a read.

Jack was a single father,he was separated from his first wife a for a few years. He had a daughter Sarah that he abandoned for 15 years.
One day she told him to pick a package from the cafeteria where her friend Cassandra works.
When they met they liked each other, but how can they tell Sarah this, when Jack has to reveal alot more to his daughter.
This is a lovely book. I recommend to those who love to read age gaps.

Jack has a secret that he's not told his daughter about, but when Sarah fund out that she has a younger sister named Grace she's not happy with him. She feels betrayed, but still decides to help him by asking her best friend to babysit for him while he works. Cassandra is happy to babysit and soon finds that she and Jack have feelings for each other. Now Sarah has to come to terms with this new development as well.

Her best friend dad has come back into town and he needs a nanny for his youngest child. She becomes the nanny and she should hate him but it is far too hard. He sets her body on fire and she needs to decide what to do. Will she carry on with him? How will it end? See just what is going to happen for them all

Remedial writing

The writing was very disjointed and really needed good editing. The story wasn’t bad but the characters were poorly developed. At some points the story didn’t make sense and was contradictory. Backstory definitely conflicts with present. Hard to believe this author has so many written novels.

This book was awful! I only finished it because I was driving home from a weekend trip and had no more Audible credits. Every time I thought the book couldn’t get worse, SURPRISE!, it did. It was so bad I found myself laughing and I think that was no an intent of the author. Save your time - and definitely money - and skip this one!

**ARC** I loved this book. Even though it is pretty taboo for the love interest to be the dad's best friend, there was definitely undeniable chemistry! The fact that the love interest was also a firefighter? Like how is that even fair? I couldn't get enough!

Man this was a waste of time… so much mistakes, in language and in consistency.
The story was one red flag after another, and there hardly was any plot. Just a series of badly written “events”.
