When the snow melt reveals a human skeleton on a popular hiking trail in Golden Hills, Ben Walsh lands his first job as a private detective. The case is as twisted as the trails where the body was found, but luckily, he’s got Hannah Murphy and their crew of special cats to help.
When the man who discovered the body reports strange things happening in his house at night, their cold case heats up.
Join Razzy, Gus, and Rudy as they get their paws on one of their most intriguing mysteries yet.
Yet another sweet adventure with Razzy, Hannah, Ben, Gus, and little Rudy!
This time around, the stakes are high for Ben professionally, as he's finally gotten his first case as a private detective. Together, he and Hannah have to find out what's going on with the bones found on a hiking trail--who they belong who, who murdered who, why, etc.
All in all, it gives us a pretty interesting mystery that starts off at one place and then ends up in another, with stakes getting higher and higher! I must say, I really liked the participation of the cats in this one!
I'm taking .5 stars off and ultimately ranking it down because 1) I didn't really like the mentions of regarding this specific case, and 2) the ending was rather sudden. I've noticed this latter issue with more or less most of the books in this series, and really wish that the author would linger a bit over the endings and the rewards that the heroes deserve. Because, with how abrupt they are, it's almost like the writer's saying, 'Well, that's that, done, now moving on' and it's not exactly how I want to finish my books, y'know? Just a small note there.
Have to say though, this is one of the better mysteries in the series, and I love how the stakes got higher and higher!
I adore Razzy, Gus, and Rudy! I read these books solely for the characters! The premise that Hannah and Ben can talk to the cats is my favorite thing in a cozy mystery series! The plot and pacing could use work and there is some editing that needs to be done, but I hate to be negative about a book with characters that I just love so much!
Book 15 in this delightful cosy mystery series set in Golden Hills with Hannah, a Journalist on a local paper, Ben, an ex Detective turned Private Investigator and their 3 adorable cats Razzy, Gus and Rudy. Hannah has a special power in that she can understand her cats speak and can converse with them, Ben has been given an amulet, which allows him to do the same. Between them, they make an effective crime fighting team.
Ben has recently left the local police force after becoming disillusioned with hierarchy changes and is waiting for his first private investigator job. Hannah is given a story to report on some human remains found on a local hiking trail. The person who found the remains starts to notice strange things happening in his house and is convinced it's linked to the remains, the local force doesn't take him seriously so he hires Ben to find out more. What follows is a fast-paced story that kept me reading.
Each book is a different mystery, and they are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and wider storyline.
I can't wait to read book 16! There is a spin-off series following on from one of the cats' previous 'cases' which I can't wait to read, and a new series about to start, also featuring a cat.
If you like cosy mysteries and cats, then this is the series for you.
3 cats, a retired police detective, and a curious reporter solve a case which starts with the discovery of a corpse in the woods. Through a trail that leads from the woods to a pair of miscreants, to a recovering addict, and ends at the jail, our intrepid group keeps going until they solve the case. The cats are cute, the humans interesting, and the story keeps you interested.
I don't like the change in Ben's status. The focus is more on him than on Hannah. She's just along for the ride. I want to see more of her as a reporter. I guess it's too much to hope that he'll go back to being a police detective. As always, the cats are the stars of the book, but again, the male cats seem to be crowding Razzy out. At least she came up with the plan to help bring down the bad guys.
This Razzy cat mystery was awesome! Razzy, Gus, and Rudy are incredible! I absolutely love this series! I enjoyed the storyline and the characters in this mystery. It had me on the edge of my seat that I had to read it in one sitting! Love this series!
I read all 15 books in a week. Absolutely loved how Courtney made the cat/human interaction perfect. I am going to start on her next series. Always glad to find a great author. One thing though, can’t start reading at night. I was up till 3am one night. Makes the next day a little rough.
I love these books! The cats help Hanna and Ben solve mysteries. They are the best help anyone could ask for! I wish there were more already written! Thos adventure has it all! Justice and mystery and danger and cats! Love this!
