An important work of reference covering the period of 1946-1958. The chapters covering the diplomatic efforts during the War of Independence and 1949 Rhodes Armistice talks are particularly interesting. The events away from the battlefield of the Suez/Sinai crisis of 1956 are also addressed. Written by the founding Director-General of the Israeli foreign ministry, who found himself privy to the crux of these issues. A bit dry in places but generally an informative read
