Good children's story. My daughter enjoyed it. Will read it again before bed time. It's s Shame they make us write so much. Makes me not want to do reviews
I'm really not sure what to make of this. It's free, inoffensive, and colourful. It's also not that interesting.
The actual book really doesn't deliver what the blurb promises. Basically, Camelea is waiting for her brother's birthday party. She sees some flowers. Her mother braids her hair to resemble them. She sees a seagull and gets mesmerized by the waters of the lake. She dances at the party. There are fireworks. Everyone is too excited to sleep... so Camelea imagines that her hair is water.
Got that?
The "plot" (such as it is) is meandering and rather vague. The ending is trippy. And the whole thing reads as if we're dropped into the middle of the series, when this is actually the first book. Characters are just named, and you're supposed to figure out who they are. (I'm still not sure who Carl is. Uncle? Cousin? Who knows?)
The illustrations are... strange. There are drawings combined with photographic elements, and while the end result is colourful and not awful to look at, it also has a weird, surreal sort of quality, and all the characters look like Lilo from Lilo & Stitch. (I did like the illustration of all the boys in their sleeping bags, though. That was cute.)
Overall, this is probably a book I'll soon forget. It's not completely terrible, though, and it's free, so there's no harm in giving it a try.
This was read to Madison who is age 9. She gave it 5 stars. This is her review: I liked the illustrations. I enjoyed those braids. The story made me feel happy.
"Camelea like a seagull" is an exciting book for kids, where Suzanne Gohier tells a story about friendship, about nature and about the importance of calm down and enjoy the little things of life, like the seagull. With nice illustrations, the book is free in the kindle edition and is very inclusive. It's a quick reading book.
Camelea was preparing for her brother’s birthday by playing hide-and-seek with her. She hid among the red hummingbird plants. She loved the way they looked. As she prepared for her brother’s party she asked her mom to braid her hair to look like the hummingbird plants. She was so full of energy she had to run it off. She ended up at the pond where she saw a seagull floating on the water. Watching the water moving up and down calmed her down. She enjoyed her brother’s party. When she had trouble falling asleep she remembered the seagull on the waves. A charming book.
I read the French version of this. it is quite a cute story. Even for students of French it is a good read. the drawings aren't all that great, but I think kids will appreciate it a the same. Good book for a little girl.
Do you whna birthday party job of keeping the best way to get your free kindle books and other things that I am looking forward to seeing you in your journey into the best way the end
La historia me gustó porque refleja la realidad del día día de los niños,todo lo que ellos experimentan en el día día lo repiten en l noche mientras duermen Esta muy bien trabajada la historia por eso mi calificación
I am learning French and was looking for things on my level. This is a great story. Context really helped where vocabulary might be lacking as did the illustration. Looking forward to the next one.
No estoy segura que los niños de shora disfruten un libro tan trivial. Creo también que pudo convertir una actividad tan sencilla.en una historia más interesante
