From online friends to real-world lovers For five years, Skye Stuart has crushed hard on her Scottish penpal. Kait Nolan is a RITA® Award-winning Mississippi author who calls everyone sugar, honey, or darlin', and can wield a 'Bless your heart' like a Snuggie or a saber, depending on requirements. She believes in love, laughter, and that tacos are the world's most perfect food. When she's not writing, reading, working the evil day job, or wrangling family (both the two-legged and the four-), you can find her obsessively watching The Great British Bake Off.
Despite being a novelette, it feels like a whole story. I can't simply say 'short and sweet', although it is, because it's also spicy. But this isn't a casual wedding fling, and it's no coincidence. There's history behind them, very carefully woven. When they meet in person, it's as good as both had hoped. I feel in love with Wishful and met Skye in another book, but only as a minor character. It's so much fun to read her story, and I hope to see more of Skye and Jason in the Kilted Hearts books! I bought this book presale, and read it as soon as it loaded into my kindle. Just couldn't wait - and it was worth it!!!!
Ms. Nolan has a special talent with story telling. I'm a super fan of her Wishful series, so to see Skye from Wishful finally getting to meet Jason, as part of the Kilt series,in person, made for a wonderful short story. I only wish it was longer! Amazing characters in this whole series, you'll want to read them all. No cheating or cliffhanger and it ends on a happy note. Enjoy! 🤓
I like the idea of the long-term pen pals meeting for the first time, but the execution didn't work for me. I don't understand why they didn't meet earlier, considering they both had feelings for each other. And I don't like how the hero was sleeping around after he had developed feelings for the heroine (even if it was before they met in person).
I loved Skye and Jason’s long distance, best friends to lovers, secret crush, one bed novella. I smiled through the entire story. Skye lives in Mississippi and Jason lives in Glenleig, Scotland. They’ve been penpals/video chat/best friends for five years but never met in person. Skye comes to Scotland for a destination wedding and to see if her crush can lead to more. Despite being short, the story was well written and included three dimensional characters, and an engaging storyline. I love this series and was a fun and swoony couple to read about.
I realized this was a novella, but 33 pages is not enough to develop anything. They have been communicating for 5 years. They even used video. They both admitted they had feelings for each other, but why wait 5 years to meet in person? I know they were on different continents, but it seems like something could have been done. Plus, Jason slept with other women during that time. His feelings must not have been too strong.
Wasn't it convenient that Skye's B&B was unavailable? Then, 24 hours later they were making plans to live together. Not worth reading.
Where do I begin?! This is one of the cutest and sweetest, not too mention hottest short stories I’ve read! Kait Nolan did a fabulous job of matching up Skye with Jason and the friendship and chemistry is waa waa woom! I’m lost for word and creating new ones, this one is a standalone and has a hapoy ending!! Now I just need this to be longer!!! Read this.
- 2.5 stars rounded to 3 out of… guilt? lol idk. It was just so BASIC. - hmmm well that was REALLY cheesy and wrapped up perfectly, too perfectly. Also I know she was going to surprise him but what if he wasn’t free for the wedding??? Not my favourite writing style for sure… just too simple and things were too princess perfect. They met (finally after like 5 years) and were together for ONE DAY before they decided she’d move here. I feel almost guilty saying this, but it was so simple it wasn’t even like worth reading for me. Oh and the steam was slightly vague. Oh and she came grinding against him while standing up against a door. Pretty much says it all. I probably won’t be trying this author again. ❌ feels

This Scottish novelette is definitely sigh-worthy. Pen pals become best friends, not knowing what they’ll be if and when they meet in person. A carefully arranged destination wedding makes that meeting possible. In true Kait Nolan fashion, there are moments that just make you want to swoon and high five the air! You’ll enjoy every minute it takes to read this!
What a great short story. Jason has been friends with Sky for years but they have never met in person. Sky has flown across the sea to be at her friends wedding in Scotland after she told them about the castle, but she had a motive, she wanted to meet her best friend Jason in person to find out if what she feels for him is real!
I just love this book. Taking a chance to leave Mississippi to go to Scotland to meet your friend and love in person for the first time. That is a bold brave move. It is sweet and sexy that both are on the same page. They are both willing to uproot their lives for each other. I would give this more than 5 stars if possible
This was cute. The narration on this was perfectly good but this is the day I realized my brain doesn’t like more than one accent in an audiobook. The switch between Scottish and southern American for the characters and default American (IDK what to call it-standard Midwest?) for non-dialogue just made me twitch.
Only marginally connected to the series; set in the same town but not really connected to the main characters. Likeable characters and a decent plot for a short story. I like that they were both willing to make changes to make things work.
⭐️ 2.5/5. I’m a big fan of this series, but this short novella didn’t really do a lot for me. You’re introduced to two new characters that you don’t have previous connections to; and while the setting is familiar, I just couldn’t get invested in them or their relationship in such a short time.
· Online penpals
Even though this is a short story, it was really good about pen pals who meet in person after several years of communicating. It's a good addition to this series.
