[a] collection of poetry and prose, inviting the reader on a journey into the wild within to know a closer presence of love, belonging, and identify. Each chapter embodies the elements to retrieve, reclaim, restore, and voice the soul of a woman’s inherent worth and interconnectedness with nature.
I am only newly discovering the joys of poetry. As would be expected, there were some poems in this book that really resonated for me, and others that I did not connect to. My book came with a postcard/bookmark with an invitation to write down my favourite poems. I think that is such a nice idea, and I look forward to going back and revisiting the ones I wrote down, as well as discovering new favourites as my life experiences change. I am going to share a favourite below, hopefully that is okay. TIME Time, can you slow down just a bit; Just enough to help me pause to smell their skin For a few more minutes; Hold their hands while they are sleeping, long enough That I fall asleep breathing beside them without worrying, About all the ways I cannot protect them from everything, Even though I'll try. Time, help me to feel their joy without jumping to a future When they will one day leave the nest for adventures of their own. Time, help us to be friends, so that I can remember I have you now.
