The Vegas Exodus is at a standstill. Besieged by the Xenoswarm in the town Pyrite, they must shelter in either Bunker 108 or Bunker 84 if they are to survive the winter.

But in Bunker 84 lurks a darkness that could end the Exodus. And it may also be that the denizens of Bunker 84, known as "The Community," are not as isolated from the events of the Wasteland as it first appears.

The Community's leader, Elias, has his own plans for the future of the Wasteland - and those plans will change everything.

The Wasteland Chronicles Book #5 ...4.5 stars

In Darkness, book #5, the survivors are moving west, looking for shelter for their ever growing forces. They are trying to find a bunker that meet their needs and one that's hopefully not taken over by the Xenovirus. They were dealt a couple blows in this one but they also dealt a few too. I'm ready for the final battle to get here to see how it all goes down.

It's not as great as the last book, but not bad. It just feels like it's taken so long for the heroes to kill the enemy.

Thus far, I think that Darkness has been the best book of the series. I was amazed at how the story unfolded, with enough twist and turns to be a roller coaster ride. After the previous book in the series, I wasn't so sure if I wanted to continue the series or not, but I am definitely glad that I did because this book kept the story alive for me. I plowed through it in less than 24 hours. Great read!

This is the fifth book in the Wasteland Chronicles series. The title of this series is very deceiving, because very few of the adventures are actually spent wondering the actual wasteland. (Or dealing with the Fallout from the meteor impact.) Some of the elements like dealing with extreme cold is very detailed and handled well within the book. (Especially in this volume.) Overall I find that dragon taming and space exploration has taken away from my preconceived notion that I was jumping into a series that dealt with the hardships of a post apocalyptic wasteland.

My favorite character in the book, a former bandit named Grudge is featured in this volume. Though we don't see a lot of him because the main characters outshine him, he is a welcome breath of fresh air. A lot of the main characters (especially the evil ones) seem like they have lost their way or evolved way too fast "off camera". I feel like the author is trying to convince me that some of the more evil ones are reformed, especially Augustus "the emperor" and Char "leader of the raiders" who were former slavers and murders of thousands of men, women, and children.

I get the concept that these evil men need to team up with the heroes against a bigger threat. However I think it could of been executed a lot better, because most of the time the tension isn't there. (Or at least I don't feel like the hero is ever in threat of being betrayed by Char.) Perhaps this is because since the first book in the series, the main character Alex always gets his way far too easily. I rarely feel like he has ever earned his success or new allies in the series. Perhaps the only character development interesting enough was Makara stepping into the New Angels, but even that felt rushed and underdeveloped.

Despite all of these remaining issues with the series, I still found this to be the best book in the series. Would I still recommend this book to fans of mature Post Apocalyptic fiction? Well no I recommend Blood Crazy instead. However those who enjoy science fiction or Young Adult might be able to overlook the flaws that I have pointed out. It seems like the author of the series was inspired by video games, Anime, and comic books. Which isn't a bad thing because I love all of those things too. I just think the entire series needs a lot of fine tuning and polishing left to go.

I give the decline of this series a much respected three and a half stars out of five.

This is book five of the : Wasteland Chronicles Book Series .

This book was crazy so much went down but I have a couple of beef's with this series . First **it happens and no one is held accountable for it for instance Makara she and her team of bandit's were the causes for the downfall of bunker 108 . But everything that she has done while being a raider which would have had her on death penalty if the world hadn't fallen has been glossed over and she even been made a leader . Then you have Anna that I'm sure she's done her sheer look I know that in this world these two young women did things that their not proud of especially Anna . But Makara hurt a lot of people because she just didn't care anymore you don't award her with leadership role she should have earned it . And I my opinion she didn't helping Alex was only right seeing she was partly responsible for what happened to his bunker and everyone he cared about . And another thing that I'm annoyed about is HOW THE HELL DO YOU CRASH THREE SPACE SHIPS AUTHOR . That's some sloppy ass writing there should have been another way for farther the plot than taking away ALL OF THEIR MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION . That seems so stupid to me as for the gang lord's I have no problem with them they are who they are . As for the Emperor he's getting on my nerves to not only does he have the only two ship's left but he can also go to space station and take over there .

Sometimes there is a series that should have ended about 2 books sooner than it did. This series was one of those. The last 2 books were really hard to understand and too esoteric for me. Wish I had stopped with this one-but then I wouldn't have the loose ends all tied up. To read or not to read...?

This was an incredible installment in this series. A lot of open items from previous books get resolved here (I can't say what without spoilers). Suffice it to say I felt at times like I was reading about Warren Jeffs. There was never a dull moment. This book ends on a cliff hanger, so I am grateful the remainder of the series is already written, recorded and available.

Why do I like this series?

This series is killing me. So many things are enjoyable, then characters who have undergone incredible hardships and experiences, do stupid things that make you go "ok, well I guess this will happen" , and it does.

Good book

Seems shorter than the previous books but still interesting. I'm looking forward to finishing it. Alex and Ashton with Anna Katana

These are the best dystopian stories I've ever read.

Please turn this into an epic movie. Would be right up there with The best of the genre- think 28 days later level

Building to a Brutal End

This book in "The Wasteland Chronicles" series pushes the main characters onto their final charge, the definitive battle determining the fate of a human race already reeling in a post-apocalyptic world.

After finishing all of the preceding books leading up to this one, I would honestly say this was the slowest of the series so far. There were moments where I pushed myself to get through one particular chapter, but it paid off in a major way at the end.

While the action slows, Kyle West takes the time to chill the reader even more concerning his xenovirus. He introduces a new dark and twisted facet to it.

This book is getting me to an end that I am so looking forward to reading!

Good read

I flew thru this 6th book of the series, and like the ones prior to it, I was entertained by it. Was a bit redundant though, and the grammar was a tad bit sloppy. I will read the 7th and final book with much anticipation.

I thought it a great read as part of a brilliant series of books making up the Chronicals I was gripped by the story throughout all the books and am now deep into the sequel, the xenoworld saga which takes place 400 years later.

Excellent as usual

Each book in this series has been fantastic. The story is great, the various subplots flow well together, and the breaks between books are clear. While they cannot be read alone, or out order, the series is solid.

Eh, the story dragged

It dragged for no other reason than to extend the number of books. That being said I will finish the series simply for the fact that I've come this far
