Welcome to the offices of Gibson and Delgado. With continued renovations and the trials that come with having a voracious teenager as a live-in receptionist, Noctis Investigations is finding its feet. However, tensions are high as Lloyd hasn’t been the same since returning from Ontario. Plagued by what occurred, Lloyd has slipped into a state of anxious depression, and refuses to talk about it.
When the news reports an escaped convict on the run, breaking out of a prison linked to a rejuvenated Bauer Enterprises, Lloyd and Mireya suspect he may be someone like them—someone with a superpower.
Together, they travel south of the border to Great Falls, Montana, hoping to track him down and get answers. What they find is a man hellbent on revenge, a double agent with his own secret, and a shady group of scientists running dangerous experiments with earth-shattering consequences.
When all hope is lost, do they have it within themselves to pull the trigger before the world collapses beneath them?
Matt Armstrong is an elder millennial currently engaged in a midlife crisis of contemporary fantasy. His hobbies include reading, superhero movies, and torturing fictional characters. He lives in fear that one day, the characters he created will discover a way to travel across the multiverse, open a portal into his living room, and punch him in the balls.
We finally wound up with a sex scene, and thankfully it wasn't graphic. The author very tactfully closed the bedroom door on us. It's great to see Lloyd in a healthy relationship. I love reading about this guy, and I'm a sucker for an irreverent antihero figure.
