This is a lovely little fictional tale of the seven chakras in the body and what can happen when they are blocked as told in a fairytale. I love books like this where you can learn about something new in a fun way without being bogged down in technical jargon. In this story the chakras are seven princesses born into a beautiful glass castle with the girls representing each chakra and the castle is the body. An evil crone puts them under a spell which leaves them forgetful of who they really are and their purpose and they need to find a way to break the spell and find their balance and joy again.

I found though that this is an excellent book to read if you are or have ever been depressed. Reading about the princesses behaviour whilst under the forgetful spell reminded me of my own behaviour when depressed. Princess Aneeda, the root chakra who sees to the physical self stops eating healthy and looking after her body, becomes reliant on junk food rather than vegetables, gains weight and loses energy. Singya, the voice chakra looses the ability to communicate and say how she really feels. And poor Iluvya, the sister of the heart becomes heartbroken.

There’s one section in italics that made me sit up and read twice as it pretty much described everything I’d done in the past whilst under my own forgetful spell – not knowing yourself any more, feeling guilty about wanting to happy, the lengths you go to to fit in and get people to like you (when just being your happy self would have had the same effect).

But then the wise owl woman helps them break the spell. The lessons the sisters learn in doing so are the things we can do to improve our own physical, mental and spiritual health including taking care of our bodies, learning to love ourselves, being creative and accepting ourselves flaws and all.

My only issues is a minor one and it’s the names of the characters although I do understand they are a way to make it easier to understand what each chakra does; i.e Iluvya – I love you – the heart chakra. They’re a bit cheesy but don’t detract from the book.

All in all I’d recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn about chakras and healing or for those needing to start on the path to well being and health

This book wasn’t exactly my cup of tea, but it was still interesting enough for me to read further. There was not a real storyline going on like in most novels. I would say it’s some sort of educational book with a brief storyline. I think it’s a great book if you want to start getting into the chakras and learn about them!! It gave me insight into the chakras in a playful manner. Do not expect to know everything about the chakras after reading it, because that is not the case. I wouldn’t read it again, but it was a great steppingstone for me to get more familiar with the chakras. So three stars it is!! ✨

I won this book from Goodreads 'first - reads' giveaway. I am diagnosed with a chronic illness, that will be with me for the rest of my life. I was very angry, with well... Everyone and everything. Then, and friend told me about reiki and the chakras. At first I couldn't put much stock into, until I started reading about it and believing in it. The Seven Chakra Sisters was a informative good read. It gave me more insight into something I am I just learning about. I cannot wait to share it with my friend who started it all for me!

I'm not one for books about chakras, but this one caught my eye because of the sheer whitewashing audacity. The author seems like the quintessential white lady profiting off of another culture's practices. She claims to have doctorate degrees in metaphysical healing and transpersonal psychology from a university of Spiritual Studies, but she also calls herself a "Genius Light Being" and "an Agent of Conscious Evolution," so...yikes.

I'm definitely on the cynical side of things which makes me biased, but here's my favorite bit from the acknowledgements that made me wish I believed in burning books (note, as a librarian I am fully against burning books or censorship, but I have nothing against expressing one's opinion that an entire book is total garbage):

I want to acknowledge the teachers who have no names but have given me endless moments of inspiration, support, and encouragement - Grandmother Tree, the family of owls who talked to me over the course of one mystical summer, Panther medicine, spirit guides, celestial beings and angels who transmit insights while they visit my dream states, and the intuitive voice that expressed itself as God on the pages of my journals.

Finally, I am in awe of my soul's eternal wisdom which is guiding me to gracefully maneuver through this human experience on earth. Thank you for loving me.

This woman calls herself a Genius Light Being, thinks her journals include the words of God, and is in awe of her own soul.

Cheesy, no doubt about it

I'm currently working on under-active sacral, root, heart and crown chakras. This book and story - well I've never understood the chakras so well.

I think it's also quite cross-generational. For the older folks - despite the cheese there's a lot of poignant bits lingering underneath that makes the book worth it and simultaneously this is a great book for reading to kids to help them learn about their own energy and desires.

So well worth it I think, ... despite the cheese .. i know guys, it took me a while to get pass that too :P

I have 6 sisters so this book title caught my attention. I've had a passing interest in chakras, but didn't really know a lot about them. This book is really like a fairy tale story to present what each chakra covers and how they interact in one system.

I really enjoyed this book! I have never read anything about the Chakras that was so imaginative and creative. I am a huge fan of story telling and this book gave a glimpse of what Rosenthal's perspective on spirituality is. I love that it was written like a fairy tale and that she personified the Chakra's as 7 princess's. It really gives a good look at the qualities that come from them (good or bad) and what each needs and what each can teach you.

This is a good book for a novice although the storyline may not interest everyone. I was a little bored in the very beginning because it seemed to take a long time for the plot to kick in. I learned a lot from the book but I didn't really like the fairy tale aspect as much as I thought that I would.
