My personal Rating- Three Stars (and a half)

I had to admire Annette’s spunk—if looks could kill, the prince would have been dead many times over—but also her care for her sister. I’ve really enjoyed how the first three books in this non-connecting series have all had sibling love shown so far.

I will admit that in my opinion, it took Laurent way too long to realize that he was with the wrong sister—like, half the book. I think this would be my biggest “complaint”, if you will, about the book because it made the pacing feel off to me and then the main characters have to do a pretty quick 180. It didn’t ruin the book for me, but I didn’t love how it took so long to get them together and to not be scowling at the other.

One thing I really liked was that the faith content was very natural and felt like both main characters had a relationship with the Lord; Both were really nice to see and I’m curious to read more by this author.

This is my first read by this author. I really enjoyed the retelling of Beauty and the Beast. And also liked that there were differences from the original story. I loved Annette and Laurent. I thought they were so suited to one another. I also liked how Annette helped him to realize things about himself and the kingdom that he couldn’t see before. There was also great Christian content. If you like Beauty and the Beast stories or enemies to lovers, this is a great one and I definitely recommend!

A delightful Beauty & the Beast retelling!

Characters:
Annette was such a protective older sister, honestly, I related to that. I have two younger sisters and I'd do anything to keep them safe. So that part was super easy for me to relate to and struggling to see where the Lord is leading in a situation is certainly something I've faced many times myself.
Laurent was a nice grumpy guy and I know that contradicts but he's a walking contradiction and I love it!
Rose was a darling!
Perceval was a dear!
And Evrard deserves a medal for putting up with Laurent on a daily basis. XD

Themes:
Trusting God's plan in all things, even those we don't understand.

Language:
N/A

Romance:
One kiss and romance that was built slowly.

Overall:
I enjoyed this retelling and was so cheering on Laurent as he struggled with what to do. I felt so torn with him. XD Like I understand, dude, this is no easy thing to fix.
I read this is like 2 days...lol...I had to know how the issues were resolved and honestly...Mathis...he was just...yeah, such a weasel. *glares in said man's direction*

Recommend for ages 13+

I wasn't sure if I would enjoy this book at first, not by any fault of the story (I loved it from the beginning!) but because it was written in present tense. For whatever reason, I cannot abide present tense unless it is written in a way that makes me forget that it is. Well, this story definitely did that.

This story was so sweet, so heartfelt, and so magnificently done. It had me glued to the story until completion! In short, I absolutely loved it!

Characters are very important to me and these certainly met my approval. Laurent was such an interesting character and masterfully done. I love how he was portrayed as a beast and the layers that gave him. Annette's character was equally layered and well done. I especially loved her devotion to her sister and how she just wanted her happy.

I actually really enjoyed that this story didn't focus on the romance from the beginning. In fact, for most of the story I was unsure how the main characters would end up together. I love the focus being more on friendship and strength and a desire to save the kingdom. But of course love came along and it was beautifully done. 🥰

In all, this is one of my favorite books in the series so far! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a clean, nonmagical Beauty and the Beast fairytale retelling.

Beauty and the Beast has always been one of my favourite fairytales. This retelling was so well done. With well written characters, Faith elements, and the base Beauty and the Beast characteristics but woven in a new way. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would recommend it it for all who love fairytale retellings.

This morning feels like ages ago, last night another lifetime. Was it only hours ago we were dancing and laughing, wishing the night would never end?

What I liked: *happy sighs* This was so good! It is a very interesting take on a timeless tale. It’s a great story with a gripping plot, lifelike characters and descriptions, and an absolutely beautiful ending! I was squealing when I finished it! I always appreciate quick reads, clean romances, and fairytale retellings! There’s not much else to say except this is a wonderful, cute romance novel that’s fast-paced and comforting at the same time!

What I didn’t like: It’s a bit too rushed, and I would have liked to go deeper into the characters and conflicts, although I understand it’s a novella. It had the plot and potential to be a full-length novel. I noticed a couple more modern phrases that seemed a bit odd for the setting. It’s also written in present tense, which isn’t something I’m a fan of—you get used to it, though.

Overall, I’d definitely recommend this novella!

Thanks for the ARC copy I received from the author! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I've read a lot of great Beauty and the Beast retellings, and this one is no exception. This book has a strong pro-sibling message and the enemies to lovers trope was well-done. Recommended for all Beauty & Beast fans.

First, I have to say how happy I am that we have a Beauty and the Beast retelling that focuses on Belle’s sister. Did you know that in many of the original Beauty and the Beast stories that Belle has sisters — and sometimes brothers? I get so sad reading retellings just to realize that all of the siblings have been cut out. I’m HUGE on sibling stories. And E.G. Bella delivered a sibling story. So, I loved this.

Annette is a hard worker, sometimes perhaps too hard when it comes to protecting and sheltering her younger sister, Rose. Once the family house and fortunes were lost in the Crylmar attacks, Annette has done everything she can to keep their family afloat. Even the promise of a lost ship returning with wealthy cargo for her father doesn’t get her hopes up.

And she learns she was right not to hope pointlessly when the fiasco with the ship ends with her father settling his debts by promising her sister’s hand in marriage… to the worst possible suitor imaginable.

Prince Laurent is hated by the people since his failed engagement to the foreign princess, but it’s hard to say if that really bothers him, since he’s never bothered to do anything about it. He’s content to run the state as best as he can from the inside of his castle. He’s about to lose his throne to his uncle, but his mother’s not willing to give it up without a fight. Therefore, she presents a deal to the people: Laurent must marry a suitable bride and prove that he is, in fact, lovable before three years are up. And since the people love the queen… they relent.

Laurent is about to give up until a debtor comes begging for mercy and his mother unnecessarily involves him in coming up with a solution. The man in debt has two daughters, and one is just the beautiful, sweet, and passive princess that the kingdom will quickly fall in love with.

I love reading a Beauty and the Beast retelling that feels new and unique, but still feels like Beauty and the Beast. And this book was just that. With the focus on Rose’s sister as the main character, it didn’t give that overdone vibe that we’re starting to get with your run-of-the-mill retelling.

It took me a hot minute to get used to the present tense. Normally, I don’t enjoy reading in present tense because authors feel it gives them liberty to use too many short sentences and phrasing. And that really gets on my nerves after a while. But this book didn’t do that. After a while, I forgot about it being in present tense, and just absolutely fell in love with the story. The fact that I read it all in one sitting and stayed up way to late is a testament to how much I really enjoyed it. *sheepish grin*

Again, I LOVED the sister dynamic. I have four sisters, so I love getting to see those kind of relationships played out in stories. Annette and Rose are super cute together, and it’s easy to see Annette’s desire to protect her younger sister, especially with how naïve Rose can be at times. The twist at the end came quickly, but I was glad to see how it all played out.

The romance was not super heavy in this book, which was nice. I loved the banter and enemies approach Annette and Laurent started off on, and it was fun to see how that slowly swung towards more. I do wish we could have gotten more scenes with them actually falling in love, but *minor spoiler* their courtship really only spans two days. There really is only so much one can do with two days.

I would highly recommend this book for fans of sweet fairytale retellings, Beauty and the Beast stories, SISTER stories, and clean romances.

Advisory: Some mild danger/fantasy violence. The kingdom was invaded after a broken engagement, and many died and much was destroyed as a result. But nothing is super graphic or detailed. A character falls off her horse; someone is choked; another character is stabbed with a letter opener. Someone is taken hostage. But again, I didn’t find anything overly graphic or detailed.

The romance is fairly light and very clean. The one kiss I noted happened at the couple’s wedding. There are a few instances of more romantic-trained thoughts and embraces/hand holds, but nothing overly done or too mushy. I enjoyed not having to wade through mush to get to the end of the book.

This was so goooood!
It took me a minute to get into, Annette… was intense, but it got better as I kept reading!

The library scene!!!!!!!!!! Ahhh the library scene!!!

Getting to know Laurent was so well written toooooo(I do wish he wouldn’t have kept interrupting people when they’re talking but I know that was part of his development)!

This was very sweetly written, a couple things rather simplistic, but thoroughly lovely!!
I enjoyed the added elements of the villagers and the queen(wish we could’ve seen more of her), and Evrard was the best!

This was my first introduction to the authors work and I’m looking forward to more!

Absolutely beautiful Beauty and the Beast retelling! God is looked to for strength and guidance without being preachy. The prince's story was believable and made him feel human (even though he was "the beast"), the villains were evil and a bit surprising, and the wedding at the end was a trip! I think my favorite part of this story, though, and what was most surprising to me, was the sister relationship portrayed. I love a good sibling bond! I'm glad there was an epilogue, but I think we need a book from Rose's POV now!😁

I was gifted an advanced copy of this book by the author to read, and all opinions are wholeheartedly my own!💛

This was wonderful novella! So sweet and perfect in every way, I loved the slow burning romance, and how Annette cared so much for her family that she sacrificed everything for them. And her care and concern for the poor was so touching. 🩷
The writing style was amazing, and sooo hard to put down!! I wish there was going to be a sequel with Rose, I loved everything about her too, her devotion to Annette and love for family as well, it was all so inspiring.

A perfectly clean medieval book with all the royalty vibes that I highly recommend!! 🩷

A fabulous twist on Beauty/Beast and a faith-filled read...

I enjoyed Annette and Laurent's (and Rose!) story. I also liked the original twists to the Beauty and the Beast story... I've read a few retellings (cos I love the original!) and found this one to share more unique changes to the story.

I wasn't sure how things were going to go re: Rose, or how the two main characters were actually going to get together, but I'm happy to say it ended nicely.

This was my first read by this author and I enjoyed her author's "voice" and writing style. I can only imagine the writing will reach impressive heights as she works on her craft and writes more stories... and I look forward to seeing this happen. 😊

A Noble Grace by E.G. Bella was so fun to read! I enjoyed the sister aspect that was added to the classic fairytale. Rose and Annette were two very different people, and although they belonged to the same family, they each experienced life so differently. It was also intriguing to see how the author was able to make the prince "a beast" without the use of magic in the story. I found the story well written and thought through. It was truly a pleasure to read. Sweet, clean, a little sassy, and a whole lot of fun!

Great series

Love for others, especially her sister Rose, and a desire to do the right thing motivates Annette, but she comes to realize the prince is not the evil person he is said to be. Laurent must learn to believe that with God's help he can become the king his country needs.

What a wonderful retelling of Beauty and the Beast! There was such a different take on the original story as there was no magic involved and the entire plot was mesmerizing and captivating. I loved how the main characters evolved: how Laurent learned to be a better person and how they grew to depend on God. An absolutely enthralling book filled with themes of love, sibiling loyalty, forgiveness, redemption, and so many more wonderful themes. Highly recommend!

“𝓣𝓱𝓲𝓼 𝓶𝓾𝓼𝓽 𝓫𝓮 𝔀𝓱𝓪𝓽 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓼𝓽𝓸𝓻𝓲𝓮𝓼 𝓶𝓮𝓪𝓷𝓽 𝓫𝔂 𝓱𝓪𝓹𝓹𝓲𝓵𝔂 𝓮𝓿𝓮𝓻 𝓪𝓯𝓽𝓮𝓻.”

Honestly I would consider this to be the best beauty in the beast retelling I’ve read so far (and I’ve read A LOT of retellings hehe)

I mean I already knew I’d love it when I read the tropes but now I just realize it was the coming of a comfort read I was so, so incredibly blessed to get to read.

However, one major thing I kept thinking was DON’T READ THE BLURB. It spoiled some stuff for me and while that didn’t take away any stars for me I think it would be more fun to be along for the ride with no idea where it’s going 🙃

What I loved:
🩵 The beginning cottagecore vibes (it was honestly giving Caroline if anyone remembers being addicted to the American Girl books hehe)
🤎 The protective romance <3
🩵 The action
🤎 All the diverse and well developed side characters
🩵 The strong themes of family and the duty to your country
🤎 The themes of redemption and sisterhood
🩵 The themes of faith and generosity

What I didn’t love (I couldn’t actually think of anything so here’s the only frivolous polite complaint I have 😝):
🤎 My sleep was robbed bc I literally could not put this book down until almost 2 in the morning 😭

Overall if you’re looking for a great fairytale retelling ESPECIALLY if you love beauty and the beast you NEED to check this one out! Chances are you’ll be swept off your feet like me and if not, I’m sure you’ll still agree it’s amazing :)

Content:
Mild action nothing crazy, everything is amazingly written

Thank you so much to the author for a complimentary ARC of this book, I was not required to leave a review and all thoughts are happily my own :)

FTC Disclosure: I received a free copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to leave a positive review. All thoughts and opinions expressed herein are entirely my own.

I'm always down for a good Beauty and the Beast retelling, so I was especially excited to read this installment in the Cornerstone series. I plowed through the story in one day and loved every minute of it.

Characters: Annette was a fun character, and I especially appreciated that her name wasn't some variation of "Belle." I loved her devotion to her sister. She's independent but not annoyingly so--she knows when to ask for help!

Laurent was a good prince, with just the right balance of grumpiness and kindness. He comes across as potentially neurodivergent, which I thought was a great creative choice.

Content: There's of course a romance, but it's super clean. There's mild violence.

Writing: This story flowed so well, with no major surprises but also no dull moments. The action starts at the very beginning and keeps up all the way through. Though it's clearly a Beauty and the Beast retelling, it has lots of original moments which kept me invested.

Summary: This is one of the better Beauty and the Beast retellings I've read. The nonmagical setting required some original ideas, keeping things interesting. I'd recommend this story for readers aged 12+.

I really enjoyed the Christian element included in this story, with both the "Belle" and "Beast" characters surrendering their hearts to the Lord. I also appreciate that in all of these stories I haven't felt like the Christian themes are overbearing.
This was an original version of what is going on with the Prince and why Belle would go to the castle or choose the Prince.
I will say, one area I was a little disappointed is that the main character ended up being the "Belle" character instead of being a side character living their own story as they watch Belle and the Beast fall in love, which I believed to be the premise of the series.

Although I've still never read or watched the original Beauty and the Beast, it's probably one of the fairytales (next to Cinderella) that I've read the most retellings of. That said, this one had some of the most unique twists on the story that I've ever seen--particularly the role of Annette's sister and the necessity for the prince to marry--to the point that for a good part of the middle of the story, I had no idea where things were going to go next! I ended up being able to root for both main characters, although both of them got off to kind of a rocky start and stayed there a bit longer than I would have liked. It also confused me a little bit that we didn't get the truth about all the backstory from Laurent's perspective until near the very end, so we were left in the dark as to what had really happened, which made it a little hard to know what to think of him. I did really like when he and Annette first started to truly get to know each other--that was so sweet! My only other complaint is that the end portion happened really fast, which kind of left me off balance. But I'm sure part of that was the fault of the word limit. Overall, though, even with the uneven pacing, I still really enjoyed the story. 3.5 stars

A Noble Grace by E.G. Bella offers a heartfelt, refreshing take on Beauty and the Beast, blending timeless themes with a strong Christian foundation. Bella crafts a tale full of depth and meaningful character growth, making it easy to root for Annette and Laurent as they face personal and political challenges to save their kingdom.

Annette Beaumont, the determined and self-sacrificing servant, pulls readers in immediately with her unwavering loyalty to her family and fierce sense of responsibility. Her resilience shines as she fights to protect her younger sister, even when forced to serve in the castle to repay her family’s debts. It’s her strength and compassion that slowly bring out Prince Laurent’s true nature—showing him, and the reader, that true beauty lies in character, not outward appearances.

Prince Laurent, meanwhile, is a well layered character. Shunned by his kingdom and haunted by a sense of failure, he’s far from the typical “prince charming.” Yet, his journey to overcome bitterness, confront his own flaws, and open himself to redemption makes him wonderfully human. Watching Annette help him rediscover his own heart, even as he grapples with his uncle’s dangerous ambitions, was deeply satisfying. Bella does an incredible job weaving their relationship arc from wary strangers to a powerful, reluctant partnership that ultimately brings about real change.

One of the novel’s standout elements is its depiction of faith. Bella integrates Laurent and Annette’s reliance on God’s guidance so naturally—it’s present without feeling forced, offering an inspiring reminder of faith’s role in overcoming life’s toughest challenges. The Christian themes of forgiveness, humility, and trust in God are intertwined beautifully with the plot, adding depth and purpose to their struggles.

The secondary characters are equally engaging, especially Annette’s sister, Rose. Their sibling bond is heartfelt and genuine, adding an extra layer of warmth to the story. And while the villains are undeniably sinister, they’re more than just one-dimensional antagonists, keeping the reader on edge as secrets and power plays unfold.

Bella’s writing style is smooth and engaging, making the story easy to dive into. She strikes a good balance between romance, political intrigue, and action, building to a satisfying conclusion that highlights the characters’ growth. The epilogue provides a lovely closure, although Rose’s intriguing character has me hoping for more from her perspective in a future book.

If you enjoy fairytale retellings with depth, lovable characters, and well-portrayed Christian themes, A Noble Grace is a must-read. This beautifully written novel is both a tribute to Beauty and the Beast and a story that stands firmly on its own, celebrating inner beauty, faith, and the courage to change.

I received an ARC but this is an honest review

Sheer delight to read!

From an easy and engaging style to the loveable characters to the sweet retelling of Beauty and the Beast, this novella is beautifully written. However, it is also a beautiful story of leaning on God’s strength and guidance instead of your own desires and understanding. Annette and Laurent have to learn to let go of past hurts and prejudices and see past difficulties to trust God to use them to save their kingdom on the brink of a disaster.

Another golden star goes to the very deliberate way the author draws our attention to the beauty within, and not an outward appearance: kindness, humility, compassion, love are what makes up the character. And the beastliness is reserved for selfishness, cruelty, and ugly conceit.

The plot is well-developed, the story flows, and one finds themselves rooting for the HEA.

There are a few scenes of death but done tactfully and not gruesome. But please be aware if it’s a trigger. Poverty and hunger are pictured, as well.

I was given a privilege to read an advanced copy. My positive review and the opinion expressed are all mine.

What if Belle had an overprotective sister?

This was an engaging story about sacrifice, forgiveness, trust, and choosing to love. Laurent has been living in the shadows, hated for past choices, and trying to keep his greedy uncle from the throne. When he finally finds a way to convince a woman to marry him, he thinks he’s found a solution to all his problems. Unfortunately, his future bride comes with an overprotective sister and she makes it perfectly clear that she doesn’t like him one bit.

I have a complicated relationship with 'Beauty and the Beast', but I'm always looking for retellings. This one is very well done. And by that I mean that Laurent is not a piece of human garbage, as you would expect. He is, in fact, a dear. It was actually Rose who I didn't like for the longest part of the story, she came out as really ungrateful to her sister, Annette sacrificed so much for her, and she didn't seem to acknowledge it .

I shouldn't spoil anything, but I think these two made a cute pair even though the circumstances weren't ideal. Life isn't ideal after all.

This was such a different take on Beauty and the Beast. There is no mythical castle, furniture that talks or a real beastly man who demands payment in cruelty. But there are elements of the Beauty and The Beast woven through it all, plus a few plot twists along the way.

I often shy away from stories written first person, present tense. But this author artfully worded her story to make it feel natural and alive instead of awkward. I felt like it had a wonderful conclusion and makes a great weekend read.
