Rachel sometimes thinks she began breathing stories before she ever noticed air, but she’s still an unlikely candidate for founder of a publishing house. She doesn’t have a graduate degree in English, and she’s never even been to New York. Instead, she has an English degree from a local community college, and she was raised on her family’s entrepreneurship.

She learned a secret very early: Find the right story, and it’ll forever be your light in dark corners, your soft place to land, your reminder that you aren’t alone. That’s why Rachel founded Hazel Grace Press in 2020—to find and share those stories, and the artists and wordsmiths who create them, with the readers who need them most.

Rachel is a published fiction and nonfiction writer whose work has been featured in a niche market magazine and a literary journal. With training in creative storytelling and corporate storytelling, her experience with writing, editing, and advising writers includes both technical and academic documents, as well as creative works. She has also worked in administrative roles, developing processes and providing behind-the-scenes logistical support, and as a storytelling advisor, helping to develop the vibe and voice of the brand.

While I am all about having lofty goals and creating steps to meet those goals, this author recommends dangerous practices. She recommends hiring an assistant before you have the money to do so and taking other steps that will actually set people back from that millionaire status. I worry for anyone taking her advice as gospel.

I think the best thing I got out of this book was a book recommendation for a different book.

A short listen but chocked full of inspiration and insight. I wasn’t looking specifically for audiobooks about earning a million bucks. I was looking for inspiration for a successful mindset, which you can apply to any career or income goal. And I found it. I will check out Rachel’s other book too. I enjoyed her approach to each lesson, and I love how she champions marginalized groups who are already at an earning disadvantage. Setting goals and boundaries are things we all need.

Really quick listen and it was very motivating for me to get my butt in gear and how to approach the mindset of working toward becoming a millionaire. She also has a workbook you can download which is great for taking immediate action.

I’ve been thinking of buying her book “We Should All Be Millionaires”, but definitely will after listening to this. It’s a quick listen, motivating, practical and realistic advice about setting goals and a vision to better your life. I’m going to listen again and do the exercises which are available on her site.

Definitely a great 1st read for the year. Enjoyed the narration, it was.very easy to listen to and a quick listen as well. There was a lot of great information and story snippets packed in as well as some excellent "checklist" or action bullets as well as questions to tackle. If you DO have an entrepreneurial heart, spirit, or drive, this would likely be 5 stars in all categories. She does say in the very beginning that this book is for people who do, so if you do not- probably more like a 3 star rating in the overall and story categories, but still a GREAT read/listen!

This is not the best book I’ve read about ideas for gaining wealth. It has a certain audience it is talking to, maybe it wasn’t for me.

After listening here are the main take aways!

1. 10 years why you want more money
When you find your “why” are more resilient
2. Clean up the “mind trash”
Most of our thoughts in a day are repeats of the same things, change how you think and use winning language
3. Set up a million dollar work space
This is your “training” space, you are impacted by your environment

Part 1
Plan your goals
- take time for yourself and understand the power of mindset
- Plan to win
- Shift your attitude
- Right down everything that you want and then find the costs on google, what does your dream life cost?
- Be grateful, and want more (don’t get complacent)
Part 2
Plan your time
- don’t make excuses
- Where is your time actual going? What can be delegated? Once time is freed up, how will you protect it?
- Set boundaries and keep them, low priority events don’t belong in high priority days
Part 3
Plan your support
- Emotional support is just as important as physical support
- Keep high caliber relationships, water and feed those as much as you can
- If you announce your goals your 65% more likely to achieve them and you you have weekly progress reports you are over 90% likely to achieve your goals

Throughout this audible, I was inspired by Rachel and her ability to navigate entrepreneurship and motherhood. I appreciated hearing how she problem solves everyday challenges and leans into delegation and combating limiting beliefs. In fact, I would love an autobiography!

As far as the main content about how to plan your year like a millionaire, it was OK. The informative side of this book felt like common knowledge and shallow.

Overall, a pretty solid and motivating brief listen. This Audible Original is aimed towards entrepreneurs and business owners, but I think most people can get something out of this. The focus is on getting really clear about your goals and shifting to a growth mindset. I liked how the book is organized and gives concrete suggestions. Rachel Rodgers has a fantastic speaking voice.

I did have some issues with a couple of her suggestions. Rodgers suggests hiring employees even if you can't yet afford it because it will help your business take off faster. This could be very detrimental to the employee or business if things don't work out. I also was frustrated by the suggestion of offloading your menial tasks onto other people. Yes, it may make sense to pay someone else to do your laundry or rely on family to help, but the narrative that only some of us should be successful is so off-putting. It's also frustrating that these tasks are still not seen as valuable when they are necessary.

I did find a lot of value in this read though. It's an incredibly motivating listen and I felt inspired to make changes in my own life immediately. This is a great start if you're looking to level up your life and dream bigger.

This book is for anyone who has never planned anything, pays little to no attention to their finances beyond balancing accounts, possibly wants to start a business, and hasn't any idea where to begin. Generic advice available in hundreds of other books - nothing groundbreaking or unique. Apparently millionaires are just like the rest of us except they have the luxury to block out chunks of time for thinking and writing down lists. She recommends outsourcing things like cleaning or childcare to give yourself that time, but without any care whether that's affordable now. Much of her advice is delivered with enthusiasm but at its core seems out of touch. She has apparently been a millionaire so long that perhaps she's a bit detached from the reality of today's economy for the rest of us? There are zero practical or real life examples of how someone might implement her recommendations. This is literally a philosophical book about time management and making lists. I am not the audience for this book.

Plan Your Year Like a Millionaire is an Audible exclusive that you can listen to for free with an Audible account. This book is a wonderful, short read that hits on the most powerful parts of Roger's other book, We Should All Be Millionaires.

I rated this book a 5/5 stars because it gives wonderful financial advice that focuses on growth and expansion, and not shrinking yourself and your goals. In that way, it is opposite of typical financial advice, which is to stop spending money and save all you can. Roger's approach feels much more realistic, especially because she has lived her own experience and she's giving advice that helped make her a successful millionaire.

I recommend this book to women, BIPOC, LGBTQIA, and disabled people who want to be an entrepreneur and have dreams of being a millionaire.

This was pretty short (like a long, detailed podcast), but I enjoyed it and had some good takeaways, including how and why it is important to set BIG goals and how to be more intentional in how we use our time and support systems. The book was directed toward women/BIPOC and people of other marginalized/minority groups and toward entrepreneurs, people with side hustles, and people who otherwise have big life goals, but I think anyone who wants some actionable steps to become more intentional with goal setting and maximizing time/resources might get something out of this. I would read more from this author. She self-narrated the audiobook and was clear and engaging. 4-stars might be generous for such a short book, but the content was specific, supported with evidence, and actionable, which I find is rarely the case with motivational/self-improvement books.

While this was written by the author with the goal of helping people who are part of intersectional groups, I highly recommend this audio to anyone who is hoping to improve their financial situation through working for themselves. I'm very accustomed to the world of vision boards and goal setting, but the process that the author takes you through is slightly different than any that I've went through before. As someone who wants to design my own life, I found it particularly helpful that she has you define that life in concrete terms and with actual dollar amounts needed to make it happen.

This is not a long listen and could be helpful in goal setting, mindset, and getting a clearer picture of what you actually want.

The writing prompts to uncover your why and what you want for the upcoming year are helpful. She goes over winning language and the difference between that and language preparing for failure. This distinction made the listen worth it.

She laid out step-by-step plans to give yourself more time to pursue your goals, side hustle, or bring more money into your business. The end seemed repetitive, perhaps it’s because she was summarizing the previous steps.

You have to do the work to find your why, write out your goals, schedule them, and pursue them. It also means saying no to things that don’t align with your goals. I thought it was the perfect exercise for January or the start of every month to stay on track.

While I appreciate the intent behind this book, it reads more like a motivational piece than a true "how-to" guide, which is misleading given the title. Some advice is solid, though not groundbreaking, but other recommendations are downright irresponsible and concerning. For every step forward with good content, there are two steps back with worrying suggestions and dismissive comments toward those who haven't faced her specific "struggles." I'm concerned for anyone taking her advice advice too seriously.

I initially hesitated to read this book because of the reviews, but I’m glad I decided to give it a chance. The book is well-organized and offers valuable advice. My most significant takeaway was the importance of seeking help when necessary. I didn’t feel that the author encouraged readers to live beyond their means or to pay for assistance they couldn’t afford. Instead, my understanding was that we should delegate tasks that don’t require our direct attention so we can focus on activities that can directly boost our income.

I felt like in 2 hours Rachel Rodgers put me in check! I had to pull out a notebook for this one.
What I appreciate the most about this author is she continues to remind you YOU MUST SET BOUNDARIES and the check list she provided help me within the first hour after I was done. While there is much work to me done on my end, the tools she provide will be very helpful.
I look forward to reading/listening to additional books from her.

5/5 ⭐️

This book was fantastic. It felt like a shorter more concise version of we should all be millionaires which I appreciated. So if you haven't read that book, this book would be excellent to read. I'm excited to work through the accompanying resources and plan my new year. I can also see myself coming back to this each year when I do my annual planning. Full of actionable steps which I more than appreciated.

Good advice - A good afternoon listen to help anyone with a dream of their best life achieve it through hard work, a solid support system and a laser focus on the things that are actually important in their lives. Even if one is not looking to become an entrepreneur there are nuggets to be mined to create a better environment for oneself.

A practical workshop worth going through with a pen and paper. I enjoyed making sky-high goals for the categories she listed and then choosing some attainable ones to prioritize. And I completed one the day I listened, just as she challenged, improving my quality of life. I will revisit these exercises next year to see progress made and update my goals.

I like the dream big message, but this author bashes white males and seems to think that no white males grew up lower middle class with student loans like she did. I am not a white male, but the author should consider, if anyone talked about her race/self the way she talks about white males, she would undoubtedly be offended. Racist viewpoints.

I'm a Rachel RODGERS fan and enjoyed this book. My issue is with GOODREADS. The author you indicate on your site is incorrect. The correct author has D in her name and she could be prevented from receiving search "hits" due to your oversight. Seems a little disrespectful to get this wrong. Hope this review is seen and the mistake corrected.
