Noch ehe er mich zum ersten Mal witterte, gehörte ich bereits ihm. Vor dem heutigen Abend hatte ich bereits eine Ahnung davon, was er war, doch ich musste sichergehen. Ich musste von ihm gegen die Wand gedrückt werden, die Klamotten vom Leib gerissen bekommen und von seinen Zähnen markiert werden, ehe er sich nahm, was ihm bereits zustand. Als er mir fest in die klatschnasse Stelle biss, an der ich seine Inanspruchnahme am meisten spüren würde, schrie ich. Dann schrie ich noch lauter, als er mich brutal rannahm. Doch ich kam sowieso für ihn. Ich kam, bis ich das Bewusstsein verlor. Kane Lockhart ist ein Monster. Und ich bin seine Gefährtin. Hinweis des Der Wolf beinhaltet Spankings und grobe, intensive sexuelle Szenen. Wenn du derartiges Material anstößig findest, dann sieh bitte von einem Kauf dieses Buches ab.

I'm 98% sure that this book heavily relied on AI-generated text. I don't know for sure - it's possible the author really did write this herself and this is just her strange style - but the markers of AI (like ChatGPT) style are very specific (certain repetitions, nonsense, exaggerations, and a perfect stilted grammaticality) and as far as I'm aware they're unique to AI, no human would write like that. Look at this excerpt:
"Lexie, care to dance for me again?" he asked, his voice a rich cadence that sent a shiver down my spine.
"I ...I'm not sure." I bit my lip, my heart racing as I glanced around the club, as if searching for an escape route from the turmoil of desire that stirred within me.
Do you see how the author probably did edit or originally write the dialogue itself and the start of the dialogue tags, but everything else is extremely characteristic of AI-generated text? The way everything is blown out of proportion, hearts are always racing, desire is always a turmoil of desire, and the style is always clunky, too many long noun phrases mixed with extreme adjectives. It's like this THROUGH THE WHOLE BOOK. The most excessively dramatic fanfic writer on Wattpad, much love to them, doesn't write like this, it's not human. And I have a hard time believing that a human would write that the character looked around "as if" to find an escape route, which if you read the whole context of the chapter is especially weird.
Take a look at a paragraph without dialogue, it gets much worse:
Each dance I performed lacked the spark that had once fueled my every move. The club goers' admiring gazes felt like distant echoes, their forced cheers and applause mere reminders of a time when my heart had danced alongside my body. The whispers of my fellow dancers, the laughter that once echoed through the dressing room - it all seemed to fade into the background as the ache of loss consumed me.
Do you see how weird it is that the people at the club are referred to as "club goers" and that the other pole dancers are referred to by the main character as "my fellow dancers", that gazes are described as echoes (???), that these club goers somehow have both admiring gazes but their cheers and applause is "forced", that they're cheering and applauding pole dancing in the first place, the unhinged reference to whispers and laughter of other dancers in the dressing room when we're still in a scene where the location is definitely not the dressing room, the fact that laughter "once" echoed through the dressing room - which heavily implies that there's no laughter anymore, that the other dancers for some reason stopped laughing, whereas the whole point of the paragraph is that the narrator is the one depressed - and last but not least, of course, the relentless cliches like "my heart had danced alongside my body" and "the ache of loss consumed me". A machine generated this text, not a human. But, if you're reading quickly, you might not quite notice.

The fist part of this book gives off major Twilight New Moon vibes. Kane won't just talk to Lexie but she knows he'll save her. Therefore, she puts herself in danger as a test to force Kane to see her again. She gets attacked and then immediately puts herself in danger again the next night to lure Kane out. I hate this crap. Then she acts like she wasn't looking for him and gets scared and tries to fight him. Natural selection should take her out for lack of self-preservation. Also, why didn't Kane just give her his number? This whole thing is needlessly dramatic and gives off wierd Batman meets Twilight vibes.
The author uses superfluous flowery language that adds a lot of bulk to the book. Many of the non-action scenes include excessive details that don't move the storyline forward. I kept waiting for any of them to be of importance, but they weren't. 3 paragraphs to describe a glass of wine she had in her apartment, more than a page to talk about a shower and her shower gel, a page to talk about a cup of coffee, etc. None of this had anything to do with the story or moving the plot forward. It wasn't even character development.
The author should have done more to develop Lexie's confusion over her strong feelings for a stranger. Instead she comes off super flaky and dumb. Kane gets kicked out of the club. Lexie gets so depressed she gets fired. She faints and he leaves her a year of rent next to her bed. She repeatedly puts herself in mortal danger and then tries to act like she doesn't really want him and he might be a crazy dangerous stranger (which he totally is). She should think about her actions and reactions and be confused by them. Instead she goes into every situation 100% confident in her actions/choice even when she knows they will probably harm her. It's like those stories of people who put themselves in harms way because they get off on being rescued but she has no guarantee that anyone will save her. For Kane, he's waited hundreds of years to find his mate but can't just talk to her or give her his number. He has to stalk her in the shadows and creep on her. What does that accomplish? She's an idiot and he's a creep.

Lexie Monroe was just trying to make a better life for herself. Working at a Gentleman’s Club wasn’t the best but it paid the bills. With Kane Lockhart being her big tipper, she was doing ok. But there is something about Kane. He just draws her in like a moth to a flame. He isn’t normal. Kane knew when he picked up Lexie’s scent that she was his mate. He didn’t want to scare her, but she was too tempting. He needed to make her his. I have to say that the fantasies these two have are HOT. Kane reminds me of one of the vampires that “glamour” to keep their prey enthralled. But he isn’t a vamp but a wolf. Kane is intense. He has a way about him that shocks you and at the same time makes you want to do his bidding. What we learn of his past is a bit sad. I love the dive into the folklore of werewolves. I was surprised at how he came about and how it happened. And the added bonus ending was fun.

While working at a gentlemen's club Lexie meets Kane. He never broke the rules and always tipped well. Lexie silently begged for Kane to break that one big rule. When Kane broke finally does everything changes. He promised he'd always look out for her when he left the club that night. And he did just that...
I love that Kane calls her "little one". It's nice how Kane left extra money for Lexie whenever he came. Kane is such a sweet man and Lexie just wants to be loved. I'm obsessed with how Kane talks to Lexie. I adore how Kane brings Lexie home and leaves a note with more money to help her. Lexie was very reckless going to look for Kane but I can understand why she did it. The way Darien was hyping up Lexie is everything.
This book is perfection. I'm absolutely obsessed. It's so good that I'm giving it 6 stars. It deserves more than 5. I was on the edge of my seat for the whole story. I did enjoy the ending but I wish it was longer. I need more! Sara you did a fantastic job.

Lexie is a stripper in Vegas and her Kane is her highest paying tipper. He knows that she is his mate, and he will do anything to keep her safe. Fast-paced shifters read with loads of drama, suspense, and sizzling scenes. Great characters and an entertaining story. I liked it.

Oh, and a hunter has been perusing him for his entire existence and has no qualms about harming Lexie.

Kane: Strong, mysterious, possessive, kinda sexy if you like crazy people. Oh, and he sheds. But, I guess his giant penis makes up for it.

My Thoughts - There was so smut and most of it didn’t sound pleasurable tbh. I’ve read BDSM erotica before and this… just sounded uncomfortable in a bad way. And the characters? THEY GIVE YOU NOTHING. Simple empty tropes. The sex was shocking and hot at first, but it quickly became repetitive. The plot felt like it was added for the sole purpose of breaking up the sex scenes. Very much meh.
But, at the end of the day, I was entertained for most of the book. Sometimes that is enough.

Uh well where to start. This book was okay. Tbh idk if it’s just bc I prefer FMC’s who are more take charge and badass and not all that submissive like this FMC was or what. But this book didn’t really do it for me, but that’s not to say it won’t for someone else.
The storyline was pretty good ig, it was very slow build up one moment and then fast paced as hell the next it didn’t really work together to me. Like it wasn’t as seamless as it could’ve been from the chapter to the next.
I enjoyed the description and it sounded like it’d be a pretty good book but it was a letdown for me. It had a rather good plot but I just don’t feel it was worked in the best possible way it could’ve been.
Though on the other hand if you’re looking for some spicy steamy smut with all the scenes this book definitely has that in spades. Which to a certain extent I enjoy myself but I want a story that completely envelopes me to go along with all of that too and for me this wasn’t it. Tbh I almost DNF it but I muddled through.
So to the author, you’ve no doubt got the romance part down when it comes to writing bc Kane & Lexie were something else. And to another reader, this may not have been my jam but it could very well be yours.

This was so disappointing and the wasted potential was just sad. I literally skipped paragraphs and pages of this book until I realised it doesn’t get any better. The overly descriptive paragraphs were hella annoying and Lexie’s constant mind blowing O’s were so stupid.
Like literally Every. Single. One.
Scream scream scream and the constant flowing of juices down her thighs and she’s always wetter than she’s ever been 🤦🏾♀️
This was so bad ngl how was this a bestseller is beyond me. Swear I’ve read better from the most basic of Wattpad authors.

Not What I Expected.
This book was not the shifter romance i was expecting. It took me three days to get to 61%. I had to stop around 24% to read something else hoping i could cleanse my pallet and it would get better when i got back to it.
I'm board out of my mind with story. Yes its loaded with sex, but there's nothing sexy or romatic about this couple or story. I have no feels for them. I DNF'd at 61%. I just cant see wasting more time to finish something i'm not into.

But there’s more between the two, and Lexie is drawn to Kane like a moth to a flame. I loved those two! I loved their chemistry and all the tension. I loved that Kane was so dominant and possessive and would protect Lexie however he sees fit. And I also loved that Lexie was no meek woman who readily accepted orders and stood her ground even if it meant she ended up with a red bottom and… Even more, the fantasies they had of each other were hot, but when they couldn’t keep their hands off each other in reality, the heat absolutely skyrocketed! And I couldn’t get enough of every filthy and deliciously depraved moment of passion they shared. Lexie and Kane were so perfect for each other and, after everything they went through, they deserved to find happiness and love together.
In addition, the storyline was great! I loved the story about how Kane came to be. And with a deadly enemy after both Kane and Lexie, the suspense and the unexpected turns of events, I was glued to the pages till the very end.
Overall, The Wolf is a deliciously dark, intense, action-packed, suspenseful and hot AF story and I absolutely loved every page of it!

I enjoyed the book, but had a few issues with it. Lexi goes with Kane, takes nothing with her and Darian isn’t mentioned again till the epilogue. Now this is her best friend, ride or die friend yet she never tries to let him know that she is safe and okay? Yet here we are at the epilogue and everything is peachy keen between the two of them. If I was her BF I would have been out of my mind with
the fear and worry of not knowing where she was and if she was okay. When she finally got back in touch with me, I would be PISSED! I’m your BF yet you never gave me a thought as to how I would deal with this? Then you come home and expect everything back as it was? Personally I would probably say hey, glad you’re okay but the fact that it never crossed your mind as to how I would deal with you gone and absolutely no clue as to whether or not you’re even alive. If this is how you treat your BF, glad you’re okay but forget my number.
Second thing. Kane has been hunted by Aric for over one hundred years but is surprised that Aric doesn’t do what he promised to do in that it’s one on one. Takes her to a cabin that nobody knows about with no security features. Hello, remember the note that you received from Aric at your estate where Lexie was supposed to be safe and without your knowledge? Oh you big protector, you make me feel so safe!?! Kane “knows “ Aric yet trusts him to honor his word. Hey, dumber than dirt. Also Kane has no backup of any kind yet Aric does. How is Kane even still alive, he was surprised by the silver bullets and knives. Never considered that Aricmewould cheat or have the whole thing planned with every dirty trick he could think of to destroy Kane.
Then the sex was way out of control. Kane is hung and larger than most men yet he gives Lexi throws her with sink or swim. Another part that bugged me his penis is the size of a coke can but she isn’t to complain for too fast and too rough. It’s supposed to hurt but not that much

I received an Advanced Reader Copy and am voluntarily reviewing it. Lexie Monroe dances at Lunar Elegance. She has one customer that she just cannot stay away from. He only asks her for private dances but never touches her as per club policy. Lexie is doing everything she can to break Kane Lockhart's hard exterior. Nothing seems to work.
Kane is one of kind. He is a werewolf and after all this time he has finally found his mate. He makes sure to keep her safe. Following her around and destroying anything that might cause her harm. Lexie is not ready for him, for all of him. One day he has to get close, too close to keep her safe and all pretenses are out the window after that. They get a little too physical at the club and Kane gets thrown out. Lexie is now on the hunt to find him after not seeing him for a few days.

Sara Fields does not do ordinary paranormal fiction. I love that about her. She creates her own world with her own legends and myths. This book is no different. Readers will enjoy getting know Kane and Lexie and seeing how their relationship progresses. Sara knows how to blend pleasure with pain and I am so here for anything she puts outs.

Okay hold on once you start you won’t put it down until the last page has been turned. Lexie does what needs to be done to take care of herself she dances at a gentleman’s club maybe to some it wasn’t the best work but it paid the bills, she made really good tips, and she has one customer that takes care of her tips wise but in other ways she doesn’t know of just yet but she looks forward to their private dance of course he never touches as per the rules. Kane sexy as all get out shifter who has finally found his mate at the gentleman’s club watching her from afar, waiting until she wants him knowing he is a little rough around the edges maybe to rough, but until she is ready for him he isn’t going to let anything happen to his mate so protecting her from afar has become his mission and when the day comes where she needs him it won’t be no running for either of them. So, the usually until one night he gets too close to keep her safe all self-restraint goes out the window for them both and the no touching rule goes right out the window getting thrown out the club leaving her to wonder what happened because she hasn’t seen him in a while but when she finally see him the magnetic pull is something neither of them can ignore but he knows there is something he has to take care of to keep her safe but will she understand, will he be able to protect her, will they be able to be together like they want, will she accept all of him and are they headed towards happiness?

Wow what a great book that the author has woven into mind and taken you on a ride with drama, action, suspense, longing, fated mate, hot and steamy, touches, nemesis are just a few things that draw you in right up till the very end. Lexie Monroe is a dancer at the Lunar Elegance a Gentmans club while she is putting herself through college but when Kane comes to see her they go to a private room but its forbidden to touch and Lexie isn’t sure what would happen if they crossed that line. Kane Lockhart has been coming to Lunar Eleegance for a while now and only comes to see Lexie his fated mate but it’s to dangerous to make his move to claim her so he watches and has Private Lap Dances with her that push his limits but hee also protects her from afar but when she is in danger he claims her as his own but he needs get rid of the threat once and for all. There is so much more to this book and to find out how it all turns out get it read it and enjoy it.

Es ist das erste Buch was ich abgebrochen habe. Ich hab es wirklich versucht, aber bei 80% hab ich dann aufgegeben.
Ich hatte große Hoffnungen an das Buch, da ich Werwolf Geschichten liebe und auf der Suche nach guten Büchern in dem Genre bin. Daher war dieses Buch einfach nur eine Enttäuschung. Ich hatte die Hoffnung, dass das Buch noch besser wird und nur der Anfang ziemlich schlecht ist, aber nein das wird es nicht.
Die spicy Szenen sind einfach nur schlecht. Ich lese wirklich viele Bücher mit smut, auch mit krasserem smut, aber ich fand es hier einfach nur unangenehm und schmerzhaft zu lesen. Vielleicht war hier die Übersetzung nicht die beste.
Die Geschichte selber hat kaum tiefe. Man kommt nicht wirklich in die Geschichte rein, weil einfach nichts passiert (zumindest bis zu 80% des Buches).
Es war nicht das schlechteste Buch was ich je gelesen habe, aber es war es einfach nicht wert mich da weiter durch zu quälen.

This book has all the twists and turns. Lexi’s is a young woman who works at a high class dancer. She is using the money to go to school and pay for her life. One night Kane finds himself at this gentleman’s club where Lexie is working. He recognizes her as his mate. Lexie is Kane’s one true mate. Overall this story was entertaining but in the beginning I do not understand why there is no communication outside of the club. It is so off putting to the story. I am not sure why Kane, who deems himself as Lexie’s protector, would not wait for her shift to end and chat with her. Or just give her his mobile number instead of allowing her to wander around the dangerous streets at night in search of him because she has no other way to communicate with him. You have to suspend reality a bit to get through. Read On!
