Kevin Bachar is a national EMMY award-winning natural history documentary filmmaker and WGA writer. The elevated horror film he wrote - The Inhabitant - https://www.lionsgate.com/movies/the-...? - was released through Lionsgate and is available on most streaming services.
If you’ve watched National Geographic, PBS, or The Discovery Channel over the years you’ve seen his work. He’s the idiot in the water filming sharks or crawling into caves to photograph vampire bats. You can see Kevin at work filming sharks here - https://www.imdb.com/video/vi2703407897/...
The natural world has always captured his imagination and the supernatural world inspires his stories. Through his journeys, he’s interviewed scientists who’ve enlightened him, heard folk tales that have frightened him, and seen quite a few things that have challenged his skeptical mind.
His collection of short stories that weaves together the natural world and the supernatural world entitled, DREAD, is available on Amazon. He's currently working on his second collection entitled - CREEP.
The first story in this collection deals with pipes, I have a soft spot for stories dealing with plumbing/sewers (both the pipes and people who work on them) because of my field of work, so right off the bat there was a little treat for me. I was also quite fond of the stories Brookhaven (there's a snippet in that one that still makes me smile days after), A Dry Heat (the heat will kill you first, maybe...) and The Trap (I mean we never get enough leprechaun centric horror).
There were a couple of 2/2.5 star stories in there, but the vast majority of stories were 4 stars so overall I would say it was a pretty solid collection.
There are 21 stories in Kevin’s Creepy collection. Too many to review without it being a book itself. LOL So…. I’m going to talk about the writing. Which is excellent, to say the least.
I love horror. All kinds. Be it creature features, demonic, haunted or the evil done by mankind. Kevin chose to write about things that occur in our daily routine or grind. Like taking showers or subway commutes. Those things we do without really thinking about them. And this is where his writing takes on a life of it’s own. He introduces you to the subject of the story. You relate to it and the people or person. Recognize it, perhaps. Then he starts to guide you to where the story is going. You start to see what might happen. I love that part. My radar pings. Yes, it’s about to get creepy. And when it does, I’m in til the end.
After I finished these, they lingered in a way I didn’t expect. I started to notice what I was doing. Like on the ride to work. You know that drive you do all the time? You get there but don’t really remember the drive? I started to look around while driving. Almost expecting something I couldn’t easily explain to happen. That’s what Kevin did. He creeped me out.

I really dig Kevin Bachar's stories. The style of his writing is suspenseful and the majority of his tales are totally creepy! The underlying theme is: there's a creepy character in just about every single story. My favorites, in no particular order are:
With Silver Bells - definitely worth it (you'll understand what I mean when you read it!) Pipes - super creepy - I will never look at a drain without thinking about this one! Brookhaven - there really is such a place (gave me goosebumps) A Dry Heat - global warming, a possible outcome. Surprise ending! The White Screen - only half a page long, but made me shudder! Gordon Lightfoot - I love the reference to Carmelo Anthony (my favorite player on the Syracuse University basketball team) Totally creepy ending! Blessed Meadows - the B & B from hell!!!! Legend Has It - haunted railroad trestle... totally nerve wracking. The Winding Road - drive in the Catskills turns terrifying! The Trap - all myths, legends and folk tales start with the real! Bonded - inventive punishment for an affair. The Package - porch pirate gets much more than he bargained for!
There are more stories, just as good, I didn't want to spill the beans on all of them! I would like to thank the author and Booksprout for giving me the opportunity to read this completely enjoyable book!.

I really was impressed with the writing style! I read a lot, and out of the free, or low cost Kindle books with a horror anthology of short stories, this one is the best I've read In a long time! There were some hits and misses, as in almost all short story books. But, the ones I loved, I REALLY loved! The first and the last stories were my two favorites! It was written with professional quality writing. Which, is something that's hard to find these days online, as the masses are all writers now. That's great, but it can be daunting trying to find something well written. The first story reminded me of Stephen Kings, "The Moving Finger". It's cool when an every day event suddenly becomes a monstrous affair! I loved it. The last tale is a warning of how you may lose yourself in porch piracy, at a very high cost! There was a tale at the start of a possible apocalyptic event, a serial killer, or two, and so many other treats!! I would definitely not pass this one up! I've never read anything from this author before, but I certainly will read more of his work soon! I'm curios if he maintains his professional writing style throughout a full novel... My guess is, yes!!.

In Kevin Bachar's last anthology he dealt with nature, bugs, creepy crawlies, etc. In this outstanding collection he sets his sights on the normal, everyday, and mundane things. Things that we're familiar with and comfortable around. Until he puts a horrifying twist on them.
These 21 tales cover a wide range of subjects. From the pipes in a home, a baseball game, a porch pirate, a school project, and even the bond between a husband and wife. But these all take a turn for the dreadful once he uses his imagination to bring them to creepy new levels.
The length of the stories vary but the quality and scare factor remains consistent throughout. As you finish one story you'll just want to keep reading if only to see what other twisted world view he can conjure.
If you, like me, love a good frightening collection of short horror stories, you'll absolutely love this one. I highly recommend it.
Huge, huge kudos for the ability to put words and imagination together!!!! Most of these stories will have you feeling empathy for the individuals within the stories. Whether they be victim, or aggressor. Theme of this Creep is good vs evil, and what happens when the line between the two become blurred.....
This author has figured out how to gain his readers attention and keep it with stories that speak to his readers very soul. Because, there is a tad of us all in some of these short stories. Which will take us the reader on a very bumpy ride....for this reader the ride was super exciting, and a ton scary!!!
I highly recommend this book for that one skeptic we all know and love. Or, that individual that has an explanation for why we humans think we know everything regarding time and space. All in all, this book will not disappoint!!!
This collection of short, snappy, creepy stories, was great fun! Kevin Bachar knows how to keep the reader entertained with some quite nasty tales, almost all of them told in first-person. If you like creepypasta or plain, in-your-face stories that have a strong chance of creeping you out, this is the perfect collection for you. Every story has a surprise, even those very short ones like "Maple Crest" or "Sticks and Stones," both of which I liked a lot. I particularly enjoyed "A Dry Heat," with its very surprising ending, "With Silver Bells" and "Legend Has It" - they had the "punchline"-kind of ending! "Pipes" was my favorite, though. I recommend the collection highly!

I read Kevin Bachar's earlier collection "Dread," and I thought this one wasn't as good as that. A lot of the stories felt like they ended partway through without any resolution, and there were a lot of strange errors that distracted from the plotlines. I think my favorites were probably "Gordon Lightfoot," "A Dry Heat," and "Jane Doe," but there were others I enjoyed the setup of and then was frustrated when they ended without a resolution. If you're looking for something sort of light and easily readable you'll probably enjoy this, but know what you're getting into and don't have super high expectations.

This is a nice, solid anthology - a variety of ideas, themes, lengths and styles. Whilst a couple of stories didn’t quite land with me (always the way with an anthology), most of them did. There were a couple which I sped-read because I was so keen to find out what happened. The writing style is clean, not overblown or too flowery, and flows along nicely. There are enough flavours here to keep it interesting – some overt horror, some more subtle, some short and sweet, others more in-depth. Would recommend, and would read another anthology by this author.

EVERY HORROR BOOK I EVER READ WILL ALWAYS BE 5 STARS IM OBSESSED 🤪
I use to read Horror and True Crimes before I joined this community but then I took a break to explore new options and now I'm hoping back into this genre and I completely forgot how much I've missed all the super disturbing Story's and just paranormal everything ! 🖤
This book was once again another stomach turning read with some very, very creepy short stories in each chapter , if your easily scared, I wouldn't read these at night lol you will probably be losing sleep 🖤
I just love how graphic these get and their amazingly written 😍
I was soooo disappointed with this book of short “horror” stories. With that creepy cover I was expecting some real good scares. In all honesty I feel this is a book of stories that just … don’t go anywhere. There’s no real build up, no creep factor, I didn’t feel much of anything op reading this book, but boredom. There are 2 “stories” that are actually just one paragraph and the only thing horrifying about them is that they called them a story. Out of all 21 stories maybe 1 or 2 were okay but the rest were good concepts, poorly delivered. I will avoid this author in future as clearly we disagree on what horror means.
When it comes to short stories, you're not going to get the full background. I get that. Creating scary thrills with little to no details makes me keep wanting to read and then I am disappointed when I get to the end without any kind of reveal. For people who want to know more about the "why" and "how" behind a story, this is not for you. It also seems better to read this as part of the Nights of Madness series, rather than as a standalone book.

Kevin Bechar delivers a gripping anthology that showcases his versatility as a horror storyteller. Each of the 21 short stories offers a unique and chilling experience, spanning psychological terror to supernatural encounters. Bechar's expert control of tension, well-developed characters, and unexpected twists make this collection a standout in the horror genre. From haunted houses to everyday settings, Creep is a must-read for those seeking diverse and thrilling tales.

Creep : 21 Tales of Terror by Kevin Bachar 🌟🌟🌟🌟 This is an entertaining collection of 21 creepy stories. Most of the stories are pretty original and short/fast reads!
A few of my favorites stories in this anthology are:
•Gordon Lightfoot •Sticks and Stones •The Winding Road •Legend Has It •The Package
This is the first book I’ve read from this author and I really enjoy the way he can tell a great story! I listened to the audio version and the narrator was very good!! *Check it out for a fun collection of spook!!*
Creep by Kevn Bachar is 21 short stories of horror that are based on things in our every day lives. Things like a man that steals a package from someone’s doorstep, a story that will make you think twice about sitting on a toilet, global warning, a green thumb, and so many more. I was drawn into from the opening words Drip, Drip, swish, swish. Does that WHET your appetite? The book is filled with plenty of cringe worthy moments, sure to add a giant T to terror.
Thanks Kevin, for the opportunity to share my thoughts on Creep: 21 Tales Of Terror.
This had me glancing over my shoulder, something I hadn't done in a long while! The writing was smooth and transitioned well into the next part of the story. Most of the characters are likable whether they are the protagonist or antagonist. While some of the short stories were more symbolic, they didn't take away from the horror. I would recommend this to those, like myself, who are new to the Horror genre.
For those who loved Neil Gaiman’s trigger warning, you’ go nuts for this book. Each short story had me spellbound, scared, anxious, perplexed and nervous. Some stories made me sad….some gave me hope….others made me question everything I thought I knew. Definitely worth reading!.

this had everything that I was hoping for from the description and the first book in the series. Each of the stories worked overall and felt like the way the genre worked overall. I enjoyed the way Kevin Bachar wrote this and created each story perfectly.

If you want some short stories instead of starting a novel or for that flight or train trip you’re taking, this collection might just fill the bill. Think of the Twilight Zone, Night Gallery, and even Outer Limits. If you like these TV shows, then you will enjoy these stories of Creep.
I loved these creepy stories! Very well written and suspenseful! I could not put it down!! My favorite stories were Jane Doe and Evil! Highly recommend!.

There are some gems in this book of short stories. I read the first Nights of Madness book and was impressed. This one is more of the same. A good read that is absolutely worth your time!.

These stories are definitely creepy, as the title suggests. I found myself thinking about them while doing ordinary things in my daily life, causing my mind to run down a list of “what if” scenarios.
