Brown County #2

Runaway Love

Rate this book
Maggie Walker yearns for the one thing she’s never truly felt: love. After years of rejection and abandonment, the shy and timid Nurse found that running felt right and provided her with the solitude she needed to avoid the haunting memories of her past.

Keeping to her routines and having complete control of her life, made things easier, but not more exciting. When chance steps in, it throws the unexpected in her path in the form of a handsome stranger named Charlie.

Charlie Hennings lives under the pressure of expectation. When forced to follow in his father’s footsteps as an FBI Agent, he left behind part of himself and the chance to embrace his dreams, which included settling down and starting a family.

When his latest endeavor lands him in an undercover position in Brown County, he never expects to find the one person he couldn’t live without, who also ironically ends up being directly connected to his current assignment.

Throughout their journey, Charlie makes it his personal mission to help Maggie break out of her shell and convince her that she deserves all the love in the world. But when Charlie’s lies are brought to light regarding his job, will it destroy everything they’ve been working toward?

Can Maggie overlook his deceit and let herself experience these new feelings of love or will she just runaway from it all?

This book was given to me by author Andrea Smith as a gift. I loved how protective Charlie was over Maggie. Maggie is a nurse who was abused as a child making her shy and believing no one could love her. However, Charlie comes along and thing start to change. The book had a good story line loved the action. The only thing I didn't like were the different POV.I personally don't like too many POV besides the main character. I would still recommend to read this book.

Maggie is a twenty-four year old woman who has spent her entire life fighting for everything she has. Growing up with no one to love and no one to love her, she focuses on her academics so she can get into a good school and live out her dream of becoming a nurse.

Why does she want to become a nurse so bad? Well, it has always been something she was interested in but at fifteen she was hospitalized after being brutally beaten by her own father. Her nurse acted as a mother to her more in two days than her own mother did in all of her fifteen years.

“She cared about my safety. She was sweet as could be and doted on me like a loving mother should, I had never felt that kind of love before, and here I got it from a stranger who didn’t know me from Adam. She made such an impact on me that I knew, I just knew that one day I was going to become a nurse so I could return the favor to people who needed it.”

Maggie is quiet and shy. She doesn’t have any friends. She walks with her head down to avoid contact with people. She has never been all that comfortable around people except her best friend Gio and her brother, Mason. The Mason she knows now is different than the brother she once knew. He has turned into the one man they have both hated their entire lives…their dad. He’s mixed up in some crazy stuff and implants himself back in her life, taking control of her home and her actions.

Charlie is a good guy. Everyone in town knows him as the local bartender except a select few that know who he really is. He is living a life that was chosen by his father. A life that will never allow him to be the kind of man he wants to be. He wants a wife, children, a home, and a stable career. But right now, Charlie is on a mission to take down a man who has created a life of destroying others. He doesn’t have time for relationships but when he finds out the woman he has been lusting over for a month is none other than the sister of one of the men his is after, he can’t stay away. But he can never tell her the truth about who he is, at least not until it is safe for her to know. But secrets and lies have a way of coming out and can destroy the one good thing you think you have in your life.

I’m a twenty-four year old virgin who hasn’t even been kissed, held hands with a guy, or even been on a date. I’m unlovable, God chose me to be born into a loveless family with a loveless future.

That is how Maggie sees herself so when Charlie expresses interest she is caught off guard and unbelieving. But after a couple encounters and a date he has wooed her over with his cheesy pickup lines:

“Oh sweetheart, you wound me. I hope you know CPR…”

“Well, of course I do. What kind of a nurse would I be if I didn’t? But, why would you want to know?”
“Because Mags, you take my fucking breath away.”

***

“Can I have directions?”
“What? Directions? To where?"
She asked incredulously.
“To your heart…Open your heart and let me in Maggie.”

***

“Maggie…”

I inched even closer to her mouth.
“Yes, Charlie?”

She barely said on a whisper.
“Can I borrow a kiss, if I promise to return it?”

***

Together, Charlie and Maggie find exactly what they have been missing in their lives. He has found a woman who he can’t live without and has him rearranging his entire life to create the kind of life he wants to live, he just hope Maggie will be the one to live it with him. And she has found love. Yes love, a feeling she never thought she would be lucky enough to feel and she has it in spades. She has also found family in a wonderful group of friends. They may not be blood but they are the best family she could ever ask for.

It only took twenty four years and Maggie is finally happy, well that is until her brother’s ‘boss’ enters her life to settle his debt and she finds herself in a world of trouble. On top of that she finds out the about who Charlie really is and about his past.

“I feel used and deceived, Charlie. After everything I went through as a kid, I have NEVER EVER felt as betrayed as I do right now. So thank you for just proving my point that I have never been and never will be loved.”

Will she ever be able to forgive him or has the damage been done and it’s too late to get what they had back?

“I didn’t mean to break you Maggie. Please believe that I never intended on hurting you. I promised you that I would always protect you from danger and I failed, I couldn’t even protect you from myself.”

I enjoyed this story very much but I think it had a lot of potential to be more than it was. Maggie was….idk…to honest? If that even makes sense. She barely knew Charlie and has always only relied on herself, so I found it hard to believe that the first time she is ‘threatened’ by her brother’s boss she calls Charlie and confides everything in him. Especially since they have only spoken a couple of times before and only for a few minutes each time. And she was way too open. She shared her past and fears with no hesitation.

I really did feel the connection between Maggie and Charlie at first but it felt like we were never given a chance for that connection to grow at a good pace. It seemed like they were only together a very short time…no time to really get ‘invested’ in them and then all of a sudden time skipped like six weeks. That happened several times though out the book and I think it took away from the story in some ways. But by the end of the book the connection feeling between the two was back.

this is a shorter simple romance and even though it kind of deals with heavier subjects it still has a light feel to it. It’s a book about growing, belonging and discovering life and love.

5 BREATHTAKING STAR THOUGHTS

Yet another breathtaking story by Amber Nation! This series is just getting started and is AMAZING! This is Book 2 in the Brown County Series and takes us on another gut wrenching journey this time with Charlie & Maggie.

Maggie Walker has always wanted to be loved, but has never experienced it. Besides her best friend Gio (yummy!), she has no one. Her parents were never loving and now as an adult, her brother has even turned into a monster. But she has learned to be happy with what she has. She is a successful nurse, who works hard for everything she has. Maggie is comfortable in her routine, but one day she decides to branch out after her run and goes by the local bookstore.

At the bookstore she quickly figures out that there are people in this town that she wants to be friends with. But she is so shy she has no idea how to be friends with them. The moment Charlie walks into the store, everything changes. She can feel it from her head to her toes that this man is special and he is GORGEOUS! I am talking sexy as sin! But she knows that being the innocent, naïve girl she is. . .that she doesn't have a chance with a man like him, no matter how much he makes her body sing.

"A man as beautiful as him, takes control of what he wants and in the end it isn't going to be me." ~Maggie

Charlie Hennings is in this small town working undercover for the FBI. Although living her has made him realize that he truly craves to live a small town life and have a family with a home. But following in his families footsteps and joining the FBI was always his destiny, and never to be questioned. So he is here and trying to solve his case so he can figure out what he wants with his life. But from the moment he sees Maggie, he wants her. . .bad! After seeing her at the bookstore it has made it even worse, but the sadness in her eyes when she left killed him and now his job instincts have kicked in.

After Gio came to town to help Maggie, he made her go out with him. And when they end up at Emmy Lou's, and she finds out that Charlie works there, Gio knows after just one look that he has to convince her she is worthy of love.

"Once you land your special someone, he better grab ahold for one amazing ride, because once those walls of yours are broken into, it'll be one hell of a sight to see." ~Gio

As Charlie slowly breaks down Maggie's walls he soon realizes that he has found his forever. Now he just has to decide if he should tell her the truth about his job. He is afraid she will leave when she finally finds out what he does, and the selfish part of him wants this to last as long as possible.

"Consequences be damned, but I wanted Maggie. I wanted her forever. That thought really surprised me, but I knew in my heart of hearts that I loved this girl." ~Charlie

Maggie and Charlie have fallen in love and he finally got his beautiful girl to come out of her shell. But eventually lies are revealed when chaos erupts and Maggie's heart is shattered. She is broken and has no idea what to do with the emotions other than runaway.

"After everything I went through as a kid, I have NEVER EVER felt as betrayed as I do right now." ~Maggie

Can Charlie convince her to give him another chance? Will she ever be able to trust him again? Or is she just destined to never be loved by anyone?

"My absolute all-time favorite place to be is in your heart, there is no greater place on this earth to be." ~Charlie

Once again, Amber Nation has wrote a beautiful gut wrenching story! You will be laughing, crying, smiling, falling in love, and ready to scream throughout the entire book. I was on the edge of my seat, biting my nails, not able to put this book down until I knew where Charlie & Maggie would end up. This does have a HEA, but it is no easy journey to get there. Of course we get to catch up with all of our favorite characters from Not Alone, and even meet a few new ones. I can't wait for the next few books in this series. . .especially Gio & Toby!!!! If you haven't read a book by Amber you need to fix that ASAP, these books are amazing and keep getting better!

Runaway Love is the second book in Amber Nation’s Brown County series. While this book can be read as a stand alone I highly recommend reading the first book, Not Alone, before starting this one. Runaway Love is the story of Charlie Hennings and Maggie Walker. Now we first met Charlie in Not Alone where he played a very important role but we didn’t get to learn very much about him at that time. Maggie was also very briefly introduced in Not Alone.

Everyone thinks that Charlie Hennings is just a bartender and bass player for the band The Nation’s Capital, but that is not all there is to him. See, Charlie is really an undercover FBI agent who is on assignment in Brown County. Charlie is working to take down a man who deals in drugs and trafficking women. Charlie is one of the good guys. But, Charlie wants more for his life. He wants a wife, children, house with the picket fence and all, but he knows that he cannot have any of this as long as he is following his father’s dream for his life. Charlie knows that he is going to have to take control of his life before he can have any of those things, but first he has to solve this case.

Maggie Walker is an amazing nurse who loves and respects each and every one of her patients. She is quiet and shy and doesn’t really have any friends. See, Maggie has never had anyone in her lifer to love her except for her best friend Gio and her brother Mason. But now she can’t count on her brother anymore because he has turned into a monster just like their father was. Maggie doesn’t believe that she is deserving of love.

When Charlie first sees Maggie he is instantly attracted to her, but it is much later before he finally gets the chance to ask her out on a date. Maggie is beyond shocked that this hotter than hot man has expressed interest in her!!!!

“I’m a twenty-four year old virgin who hasn’t even been kissed, held hands with a guy, or even been on a date. I’m unlovable, God chose me to be born into a loveless family with a loveless future.” ~Maggie~

Charlie is simply amazing in his quest to win Maggie. Between the unconventional dates and the super cheesy pick up lines that sound so sweet and funny when coming from him, it is not long before he has brought Maggie out of her shell and won her heart.

“Can I have directions?”
“What? Directions? To where?" She asked incredulously.
“To your heart…Open your heart and let me in Maggie.” ~Charlie~

“Oh sweetheart, you wound me. I hope you know CPR…”
“Well, of course I do. What kind of a nurse would I be if I didn’t? But, why would you want to know?”
“Because Mags, you take my fucking breath away.” ~Charlie~

But, there is still the fact that Charlie is hiding a secret from Maggie. Will their new relationship be strong enough to survive this deception? Will Charlie catch the man he has been chasing for over a year?? Will Charlie be able to finally live his life the way he wants, instead of living for his father??? Will Maggie finally see that she truly is worthy of being loved???? Or will she runaway from it all?????

I am a huge fan of Amber Nation and her Brown County Series books. I am eagerly awaiting the next book in the Brown County Series; I love these characters and can’t wait to see what she has in store for them next!! I give this book 5 stars!!!!!

I just finished Runaway Love and I loved it. It was such a sweet story about forgiveness and second chances. If you have followed the Brown County series then you know Not Alone (Emmy and Grady) is the first now followed by this one. Charlie was the undercover FBI Agent that brought down Corbin (villain) in Not Alone and Emmy ended up at the hospital and Maggie is the nurse that helped her. This story follows the ending of that so this could be read stand alone but why in the world would you do that??!! Maggie has had a rough life and it had carried over into adulthood. She is deathly scared of men and the only one she can trust is her brother Mason, or so she thinks. Charlie is still in Brown County investigating drug/women trafficking and now has to follow Mason. Mason is working for the main guy Declan and because of this Charlie is now investigating him. He has already seen Maggie and it very intrigued by her and once he realizes who she is; it puts a problem in their new relationship. There isn’t a way to keep lies hidden so what do you think will happen when Maggie finds out who Charlie really is? You will have to read and see.

I really loved this story. I thought that it flowed really well and just love how it was in different perspectives; you really get a feel for the character and what they are going through. Charlie’s sexy and sweet and someone who you could fall easily in love with. He did say some cheesy things which he openly admits, did it take away from the story, no but it kind of made me roll my eyes on how corny they were. (snort) Maggie’s is just awesome. She thinks of everyone more than she would herself and because of that is very introverted. She is shy and skittish and for me has a every reason to be. I like how she was willing to take a chance on Charlie. But as they say, things backfire when you hide lies. It was predictable but in a good way. You knew who the bad guy was. For me it was enjoyable to read regardless if I knew what was going to happen.

I loved all the characters. Everyone was there with the addition to Gio (Maggie’s Friend) . I loved them all. It was good to see Grady and Emmy again and to be able to see what had been going on in their life. They are all there for one another and would do anything for each other. I think that is what I love most about this series. It makes me glad that I have that in my life and appreciate it more. I do love how she set up for the next story and cannot wait to see what happens.

Overall this was a very sweet story and I enjoyed it. I can honestly say that Amber is just awesome and love how she has made her characters to versatile and they are all so charming and sweet. You have to get on this train. I loved every minute of it.

RUNAWAY LOVE

Writing this review is slightly difficult, I don’t quite know how to articulate my feelings for this book.

My mind hasn’t quite allowed it all to sink in honestly. One thing that it has made very clear was that this is one book everyone should read this year, its contents will leave you feeling good even though there are some teary moments.

The book follows the lives of Maggie and Charlie and their tight knit group of friends, all residents of Brown County.

Maggie is a nurse, who has never been loved her whole life. Her parents could’ve cared less for her, and she was her father’s punching bag on more then one on occasion. A near death experience landing her in hospital is what prompted her to become a nurse, so that she can help others.

She keeps to herself mostly, but once she’s welcomed into Charlie’s group of friends, she has people she can depend on for the first time in her life, something she’s never had before. Just like finding love and being loved for the first time in her life.

Charlie is an undercover FBI agent, although the only people that know that are Emma and Grady, who were let in on the secret in a previous book. To the towns folk he’s just the bartender at Grady’s and a bass player on the local band, the Nations Capital.

He wishes more then anything else that he wasn’t an FBI agent, a profession which was thrust on him due to the fact that his father and uncle are both in the FBI. He just wants to be able to put roots down in one place, instead of going where he’s assigned to.

Meeting Maggie changes him and he falls head over heels in love with her. But he fails to mention that he’s really an FBI agent who’s investigating her brother and his boss for drug distribution and human trafficking. The longer he leaves it the harder it gets.

Keeping secrets, especially damning ones like these always come back to bite you in the butt!!! But will it destroy Maggie and Charlie’s relationship when she does??? Will she see him as just another person who’s let her down?

The book is a roller coaster of emotions from start to finish. In my opinion any book written that allows you to feel the raw emotions its characters are feeling is a great book, and you feel all that in this book.

I felt anger. I felt compassion. I felt elation. I felt passion. I felt love. I felt fear.

You laugh.

You cry.

You want to slap some sense into certain people.

You want to wrap your around some and tell them everything’s going to be okay.

The book highlights some important things….

You always have HOPE.

True friendship and its power is so important in our everyday lives. True friends stick by you no matter what.

Love always finds a way, even if it does take a while for you to get there.

and above all else…. EVERYBODY DESERVES TO BE LOVED

***** out of 5 stars for having absolutely everything a good book should have.

I must say that I am in love with this group of books by Amber Nation. She has given us a family of characters that are so easy to feel empathy for and take pride in their courage. I have fallen in love.
Maggie has had her whole life to know she was not loved by anyone, not even her parents. She thought her brother loved her, but soon she realized he had become her father, an abusive drunk. After ending up in the hospital as a child after her father beat her, Maggie decided that she wanted to become a nurse so she could be the tender voice of support and love for other patients. She learned to be content with going to work, coming home and being alone, that was until her brother needed a place to stay. Along with a roommate, she now had his baggage that came with him and his job as a drug runner.
Charlie is an undercover agent who was part of a case in that small town a year earlier. He is determined to take down the leader of the drug ring there, Maggie’s brother Mason was just the newest employee for this leader. While watching Mason he took an interest in Maggie. He could tell by the way she never looked at people and how skittish she was around others, there was something going on that had hurt her and she was hiding. He just hoped what she was hiding wouldn’t end up putting her in a cell next to her brother.
We follow Maggie and Charlie as they find more out about each other and he works at making her feel loved and accepted, unfortunately he didn’t tell her all of his secrets and this would end up wrecking what he had built with her. When things start blowing up around them he finds that he has to find Maggie fast, it is up to him to save her but as an agent he has to decide if he will follow the rules or throw caution to the wind to save the woman he loves.
Amber Nation gives us an action packed ending that brings us the answers we needed and the closing to the story of Maggie and Charlie. The people in this story are all so precious with their acceptance and love of each other and the protection they give to each other is just a beautiful thing to read. The writing style of this author is a pleasure to read as it flows so smoothly with just the right balance of intensity and calm. I really recommend this book to you readers; I don’t think you will walk away from this story without knowing your heart has been touched by Maggie and Charlie.

I was given a copy of this to BETA read and let's say if you loved the first in the series you will love this one as well. It's another beautiful sweet love story about forgiveness and second chance love. We originally meet the two characters in book one.... Not Alone. Charlie is the undercover FBI agent and Maggie was the nurse on duty when Emmy was brought into the ER.

I won't go into details because that will spoil the story line.

Maggie has had a rough life and finds it difficult to trust men. The only man she can truly trust is her brother. So, when he breaks that trust.... it pushes Maggie back into her old self again a little. When she meets Charlie - trusting him was difficult. Maggie is very shy and Charlie is just a sexy and sweet gentleman. But, when lies are a part of the deal it becomes difficult to love and trust. Charlie is trying to win the affection of a woman he is falling in love with, while trying to keep her safe while doing his job.

Gio - Maggies gay best friend. I LOVE HIM! Always there when she needs him.

What will happen when Maggie finds out Charlie's TRUE identity and the reasons he is there in town? Can't say.... you have to read it to find out.

Amber, the author, has a way of writing a beautiful love story. Not necessarily all about the hot sex. She has a way of making her characters feel like real people in real life. Her characters always seem to have a true to life characteristic and in this case (abuse) makes Maggie not able to trust men because of situations in her past that have followed her through out her childhood into an adult.

We are reunited with our favorite characters from book one as well. It was nice to see how they were doing. =)

I look forward to reading many more books from Amber Nation.

was gifted a copy of this book by the author. This can be read as a standalone, but you meet the characters in book one “Not Alone.” I would suggest you read that one first. Its really good.

Maggie never knew what it was like to be loved. She had a crappy childhood. She is a strong person, She is a nurse and is caring, kind and shy. Until she has some liquid courage.

Charlie. I loved mysterious Charlie in book one. He really made me have a pull towards him. Maybe it was because of his mysteriousness or the fact that he was swoon worthy? I cant really chose but i loved him!! He is funny, hot, steamy, sexy... geez, I could go on for days!!!

I really felt bad for Maggie and what she had to endure growing up. That only made her into a stronger person though. She became a nurse for a reason and loves her job. She doesnt know what its like to actually be loved. In comes sex on a stick, Charlie. Such a babe. Maggie is a little leary at first because she has never been close to anyone. Well, that quickly changes! Seriously, this is one of the BEST books I have read!! The characters are well written as is the entire book! I cried at a certain part.. it just broke my heart. There was also a few parts that i had to stop reading at because I was laughing so hard that I had tears coming down my face!! Those were definitely epic scenes! The crew from book one also has many parts in this book. Grady is still a hottie, Emmy is a crazy pregnant person, Tess, is just beyond a blonde and super funny. Toby, well my heart goes out to him. As well as Maggie’s best friend Gio. I am so looking forward to reading the next book! I need it like ASAP!! Fantastic job on this Amber!!

Currently packing my bags and headed to Brown County to place a want ad!

WANTED: Handsome man who will sweep me off my feet and protect me with everything he has!

Always holding men at a distance, Maggie allows herself to fall for Charlie. After months of watching Maggie from a distance - in a non-creepy way. Charlie finally introduces himself to Maggie but Charlie holds a secret. With each page you know something is coming. Swipe after swipe your anticipation builds and when it happens - Surprise! I was so caught up in the love story of Maggie and Charlie I almost forgot he was holding a secret. I loved it!

Amber Nation's books are full of strong women who don't let their past define them and even stronger men who stand by them no matter what. Runaway Love is full of romance, passion, angst and drama that will leave you swooning one minute and then biting your nails the next. The perfect combo!

4.5 hearts!

I love Charlie! I loved him in "Not Alone" and I love him so much more in "Runaway Love!" While, in theory, "Runaway Love" can be read as a standalone, I seriously wouldn't do it. "Not Alone" gives some pretty decent backstory that you can only benefit from having.

"Runaway Love" picks up a little after "Not Alone" and Charlie is still leading a double life. But in the same moment he puts eyes on a girl that captures him like no other. When he runs into this same girl at Turn The Page, he finds out her name and begins to recognize that under this beautiful creature lies a shy, timid and potentially fractured soul.

Amber Nation has done it again. I love her writing style and the way that i can feel the emotions of each and every character she writes about. If you have read Not Alone, by Amber then you know who Charlie is. In this book, we learn more about Charlie and we meet Maggie. The girl from another city who, is happy being alone. That is until Charlie.
I loved Not Alone, but let me tell you, you will fall in LOVE with Charlie and his cheesy lines in Runaway Love. This book is about finding your true love, and learning to deal with anything and anyone that gets in the way. I don't want to give away any spoilers, so i wont say much more.
If you are looking for a great not so steamy love story, then this would be perfect. I can't wait to read more from Amber Nation.

This is a book that I can reread over and over (actually I have). I look forward to reading many more books from Amber. What's amazing is if you read book 1 and of course book 2, you can see her growth as an new author!! I'm gonna keep this short and sweet. If you're looking for a book with a hot storyline BUY this book.

Runaway Love, is the second book in the Brown County series. The first book "Not Alone is fantastic. I suggest to read Not Alone first or you can read Runaway Love as a standalone. I loved this book not a dull moment.

LOVED THIS BOOK! Maggie has a troubled past, but instead of becoming a whiner she has turned her life into something meaningful. She is a strong character that thinks she is incapable of love. Charlie shows her differently. This is a fast paced love story. A quick read that was very enjoyable. I am seriously in love with every character in Brown County and I CANNOT WAIT for the next book.

This is book 02 in the Brown County Series and I swear this series is just getting better and better. I loved the back story of each character and the prologue (OMG) which was in Maggies POV is amazing and started this story off right. The connection between Maggie and Charlie was so sweet and cute and I just want to give them a great big hug. I actually liked that the main drama in this book wasn’t really in your face but more on the side. For instance, it was brought up in the beginning and than laI’d low for a bit just being mentioned here and there. Than when you think everything is good *BAMM* it strikes towards the end leaving you with a wow moment. But out of everything, what got me the most was poor Toby. He’s a side character/Good Friend who was in the first book. I seriously wanted to kick Gio’s butt for hurting him the way he did. I don’t care why he did it, that was just wrong on so many level’s. Thankfully Maggie stuck up for Toby and helped him out. I will say I started to feel a little bad for Gio (who is Maggie’s best friend, by the way)after his talk with her. I do kinda hope they make it work (I know, gluten for punishment here) but of course Gio would have to do some MAJOR groveling for me (as a reader) to be happy. Anyway, the story still felt a little rushed in some places but it wasn’t bad and it didn’t effect the way I felt about the story. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and definitely recommend. Now I’m off to start “How To Save A Life” which is Book 03 in the series. This one is about Mike and Sheridan (a stranger passing through town). We got a little glimpse of her in this book and already the sparks are flying between the two. Can’t wait for their HEA * excitedly claps hands*
Happy Reading 🤓

Amber Nation's heartfelt dedication to her mum pulled on my heart strings and having lost my own mum I fully identify with her and how much we miss them ♥

Having read " Not Alone" it was great to catch up with Emmalynne, Grady, Charlie, Toby and lets not forget our treasure, the bookstore with yummy treats, " Turn the Page" ♥

It was also great finding out more about what happened with Corbin and Charlie's role as an agent for the FBI.

Maggie grew up in an abusive home. One night her father goes to far and puts her in hospital , the nurse that took care of her had such an impact on her and inspired her to become a nurse herself.

Mason, Maggie's older brother was her protector whike growing up but sadly that changes and he turns into her dad and gets involved with some unsavoury characters. He rocks up at her front door and brings along a world of trouble with him.

Maggie pops in at the bookstore and has Miles hot under the collar and the alpha awakening in Charlie ♥
Charlie starts connecting the dots and realises that the object of his affections is going to end up in the middle of his current investigation involving her brother. In all honesty I don't think she's aware of her brother's dealings. What I can tell you is that he's very rough handed with her and he scares the daylights out of me !

A frightened Maggie calls Gio ( her gay bff) as Mason is trying to kick her door in.Gio makes sure that Mason leaves her alone but sadly with guys like Mason theres always trouble lurking about.

Maggie goes from being a loner to suddenly being surrounded by Toby, Tessa, Charlie, Emmalynne and Brock. She thrives and blossoms on feeling loved and belonging♥

Declan Smith ~ What an oxygen thief ! He's involved in human and drug trafficking and somehow Mason is linked with him , that can only mean trouble !

Things start heating up when Declan pays a threatening visit to Maggie and again "Alpha Charlie" emerges!
Dear old Henry ♥ an old man who's a patient of Maggie , is the sweetest man and he shares a special bond with her.He shares his own love story with her and encourages her to take a chance on Charlie♥

The relationship between Charlie and Maggie blossoms and Charlie is a real sweetheart making sure that everything is special . Tess, Toby and Maggie have a fun filled and interesting , ok hysterical, dance session, excellent "blackmail" material LOL :)

One of my favourite moments between Charlue and Maggie~~"The way he conveyed his words with such adoraration, I actually felt beautiful for the first in my entire life!" My heart just shatters into pieces.

Charlie knows Maggie's been through a tough time and he's even more protecetive of her and drawn to her but he carries the guilt of hiding his occupation from her but his heart is in the right place ♥~ He's doing it to protect her especially with people like Mason and Duncan lurking about.

Charlie and Maggie come across and accident scene and Maggie helps Sheridan, one of the victims till the EMT'S arrive and it would seem she pulls the heartstrings of one specific EMT , Mike ..... watch this space !

D-day or Delivery day arrives for Emmalynne and Maggie is there to welcome the new addition to the family and its me reaching for the kleenex ! I just recover and get comfortable when BAM !!Amber Nation hits us with an emotional, fearful and suspense filled twist OMW !

Our injured bird Sheridan decides to stay in Brown County ,she plays a big role in reconciling Charlie and Maggie. Mason is on his way to rehabilitation ! I wish only happiness and love for years to come for Charlie and Maggie.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I love to settle down to a book which has romance, and some mystery to it.
Who wouldn't fall in love with a hot undercover agent? And for Maggie being pure for 24 years made Charlie even more in love with her. Their story is sort of a forbidden love in a way which pulled me in and caught my attention.

Here is the synopsis tell of how it all started...

*****************************************************************************************************
*****************************************************************************************************

It was love at first sight for both Charlie and Maggie. I love an HEA book that will draw me in from the beginning to the end and this book did just that. No cliffy on this one which I loved by the way. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. Amber, awesome job and I want more!

The beautiful Love story of Maggie and Charlie. The story starts with Charlie an undercover FBI agent watching a shy girl on her run, who keeps to herself, goes to work then comes home. When out she doesn't really look people in the eye, she's so shy...that she always looks down. Maggie reminded me of me when I was young. She was misunderstood by people as being stuck up, but all she really is ..is shy. Maggie had a hard past, bad parents who never cared or love her at all and a brother that used to, until one day her own brother turned into someone she and he hates the most...their dad. Maggie left their town and started a whole new life in a new town, working hard to becoming a nurse. Once she became a Nurse, she swore to herself that she will never live in a place like they had growing up. So she got herself a nice expensive apartment and bought all nice furniture. In her new life she had one friend she can trust with her life, his name is Gio.

Her life was fine, until Charlie finally decided to act on his feelings for her and decided to get to know her. Having Charlie around also gained her new group of friends that she can trust.

One day Charlie finally asked her out on a date, her first real date. Charlie had them out on a very simple, but fun date everything was perfect. As the story goes you will see how wonderful her new group of friends are and how wonderful Charlie is to Maggie. He is not only good looking, but he is very sweet and protective and will do anything to make sure Maggie stays safe and away from her brother Mason's trouble. Charlie and Maggie's relationship was going great, except for a big secret that can tear them apart. Will he tell her what his secret is or will he keep it to himself to keep Maggie safer?

While reading this book, I pictured everything as a movie and I think it can be a great movie one day. I'll cross my fingers.

Read the book and find out the beautiful love story that is Charlie and Maggie.

Runaway Love is the second book in Amber Nation’s Brown County Series and is full of suspense, drama, and undeniable passion. This story follows Charlie Hennings and Maggie Walker who were introduced in the first book, Not Alone. If you haven’t read the first book in the series, I highly recommend you do before diving into Runaway Love. You’ll have a better grasp on the characters and background leading into this sequel.

Just like with Not Alone, this book is full of drama and suspense with a heavy dose of romance. I was drawn into the story instantly and couldn’t get enough. I loved that the plot was more than just a love story. It’s a thrilling read with an unpredictable story. I never knew what twist would come next and enjoyed every unexpected turn. You’ll be hooked from the start and unable to put this novel down until you reach the end.

I also loved the chemistry between Charlie and Maggie. Charlie is this perfect balance of sexy and protective with a shred of vulnerability. From the moment he saw Maggie she has enthralled him. She’s genuine and kind-hearted yet finds herself in the middle of Charlie’s FBI investigation. Their connection is irresistible and a delightful indulgence.

Treat yourself to the latest installment in Amber Nation’s Brown County Series. Runaway Love is the perfect balance of drama and romance. You’ll be immersed in the suspense from the beginning and unable to let go until the satisfying end.

Amber Nation really knows how to write a phenomenal story, both books of the Brown County series are the kind you can't put down until you've read every single page. After reading Not Alone I wanted to read more of Amber's writing, so I was really happy when Runaway love was released. Runaway love is an excellent read with lots of beautiful characters. The story focuses mainly on sweet and shy Maggie, a 24 year old nurse who has never felt loved, and the relationship that forms between her and the very hot and caring undercover FBI agent, Charlie. Maggie and Charlie make such a wonderful couple with their big hearts and kind souls, not only are they great characters but so are the ones surrounding them as part of their friendship group, some of whom were in first book of the Brown County series; Not Alone. My heart fluttered at the gorgeous things Charlie would say, I teared up reading about the struggles Maggie went through and I laughed at the funny comments made by the different characters, whilst reading you really feel like you are right there with them feeling every emotion. Captivating from beginning to end. 5/5 <3 s

Although this book is part of a series it can be read as a stand alone, although I highly recommended you read both books as they are AMAZING! Btw Amber Nation totally has awesome taste in music, love the playlist to Runaway Love.

Okay Book 2 in the continuation of the Brown County series was even better than the first. This book can be read as a stand-alone, though I would recommend reading Book 1 "Not Alone" first just so that you get a feel for all of the characters, prime and secondary.

I loved this story of Maggie (with her tattered past) and Charlie (with his current secrets) two people that are destined to be together, though there are times when it brought a lot of angst to me while reading it!! OMG - the emotions were so varied as I read their story. There were moments that I laughed - and others where I teared up. Any book that evokes those emotions in the reader is a winner for sure.

I admired Maggie's strength in rising about what life had dealt her. No whiney-poohing around for this girl. And Charlie? I FELL in love with him in Book 1!!

No spoilers, but suffice it to say that Amber Nation's writing style, along with her ability to create such a beautiful story that absolutely roped me in to the point where I felt I was a voyeur in the character's lives is amazing! It just keeps getting better! I can hardly wait until the next book!!!

Kudos!!

Three hours...

Yep, three hours is all it took for me to finish the fabulous follow-up in the Brown County series by Amber Nation. I got pulled into this delightful little country setting and fell in love with the characters. This quaint little Georgia town feels like where you grew up and the people are all familiar to your heart. Amber Nation has given us a glimpse of the idyllic place for falling in love.

Having read Not Alone (Brown County #1), I was already introduced to our luscious leading man, Charlie. So, I had the advantage of knowing his secret and how wonderful he was. We're introduced to Maggie in such a way that my heart was just aching for her and her loneliness. These two come together with such a fierce need for each other. Both not realizing that their love will open so many doors for their future happiness.

Of course, there are bumps along the way. The supporting cast makes for some very delightful and hilarious moments. I love that we still get to see into the lives of our favorites, such as Emmy and Grady. Plus, what's a story without our favorite matchmaker, Toby!!!

Cheers to Amber Nation! Can't wait to read the next installment!
