Late Bloomer

Rate this book
For Erica Scott, life seemed destined to be little more than a day-to-day trial to endure and survive. Through confusing childhood and troubled teens into unhappy adulthood, depression, eating disorders and crippling lack of self-esteem were constant companions, while joy and fulfillment were elusive.

Ultimately, her sense of humor, strong will and sense of the absurd prevailed. With therapy, medication and support, Erica was able to break free and blossom at last. As her confidence grew, so did her desire to finally explore a side of herself she had been stifling for years. And once she began the journey, there was no stopping her.

"Late Bloomer" is the autobiography of a daughter, sister, friend, lover, author, spanko, video performer, flawed human being and resilient woman. Read about her adventures, struggles and triumphs.

This book is part memoir, part tell-all, and all heart. It's not a tell-all in the lurid sense of the word, but an original look into the world of a spanko and all around sweet and neurotic girl.

The first quarter of the book is mainly the tale of a troubled girl growing up in the LA area. After reading it, I felt like I knew Erica inside and out. Her writing was so honest and straightforward, it was kind of like listening to a friend confide in you about her life. Then, it gets to the part where she decides to go after her spanking fantasies and make that part of her world a reality. This is where it really got amazing for me! As someone who was also a Shadow Lane enthusiast, it was really neat to hear about how the videos were shot, and learn about the personalities of those behind the scenes. Keith Jones...yum!

This isn't just a story about Erica's life, or spanking, but a story about all of it coming together in a fully visioned life. We get Erica's insights into love, family relationships, and friendship. The story leaves off on a positive, uplifting note. I really enjoyed this book and I feel like I really know the author now. The behind-the-scenes Shadow Lane stuff is worth reading the book alone, but this is much more than that. Highly recommend.

I really did think this story was okay. It was, at times, difficult to read as she shared painful stories of her life. Some stories of her professional life were titillating, but this is, first and foremost, a memoir. I wouldn't discourage anyone from reading this, and I'm glad to have read it, but it's certainly not something I'm going to want to re-read often.
