I'm a self-proclaimed angst queen, and I write omegaverse and fantasy romance, most often with many lovers per lady. I have a strong preference toward enemies to lovers, bully, and dark romance.
The voices I bring to the paper draw from the distinct social settings in which I have lived, the many places I have travelled, and from my time in health care.
I maintain a commitment not to write pregnancy in my books (including epilogues). While I have nothing against the beauty of babies, my leading ladies find HEAs outside of children <3
I can’t even begin to understand the pride Mackey must take in the utter devastation she injects into my life or the chock hold she has me in! So much stands out in this book. 1)I was a little confused on the back and forth about what Shatter revealing her dark bond would or wouldn’t mean. 2) I absolutely am going to have to find time to read this again. 3) Never saw Ransom being a himbo coming! 4)I felt more relief at Roxy being who she seemed to be than at anything else. 5) I have absolutely no idea how Mackey is going to get herself or the pack out of this mess. Like I legit feel hopeless but that’s ok cause that means the HEAT will be all the sweeter 6)The world building around auras and bonds is brilliant and fascinating. Then on top of all of that there is DUSK…and he is everything!! I mean he is just everything! The way I was prepared to ignore everything in my life to read this book is farther testament to the way this series and world has consumed my life! And I know there is a lot of cliffhanger hate lately but this one was so perfect in its simplicity. Just consider me feral for Marie Mackay and the OV at this point.
Shatter was so delightfully awkward in this book, and I loved it. The slumber party and the scent marking the apartment scenes were hilarious.
Also, the revenge dress scene was *chef's kiss*
The world-building is a little clunky. I was a little confused about the big reveals at the end and like what's going on with the alpha aura sickness / poison / different bonding / parasite situation. I WAS skimming a bit at times because I was bored of the long-winded explanations, so my confusion is probs mostly my fault, but I was def confused.
Woah!! How the tables have turned... the pack we idolized in the 1st book turned to disgust in the 2nd book && we in turn loved the right pack!! I cannot wait to read the 3rd book and see what happens.
Oooo, I liked this one more than the first book. Is it because I'm already familiar with the characters or because there's a touch more depth and plot? Undecided, but I had a great time.
This picks right up from book one. We're finally introduced to Ransom and what a delight this alpha is. There's some major conflicts unfolding here between Shatter and her scent matches and huge reveals that really up the ante.
The plot has come together in the second half as well! I found the vague allusions from book one to be a bit grating, but now that secrets are out, emotions and reactions are quite clear cut and I appreciate it.
And of course, the relationship development and spice! Excellent, decadent, and a little wild.
If you thought the first one was a dark and twisty wild ride boy are you gonna be in for a surprise. I actually liked this one more than the first which is a real treat for me as I usually find the first to always be the best.
Book two starts off seconds after book one ends so I would recommend starting this one right after you finish book one. There's not a lot I can say, other than how much I loved it, without giving any spoilers of book one but one thing I absolutely have to say. Revenge Dress. Honestly that's the only thing you really need to know lol.
I did feel like some parts were slightly drug out a bit more than they needed to be, especially some of Shatter's thoughts as they do get a bit too repetitive in some spots but it's a minor blip in the whole story. It was really nice getting more time in the guys heads any learning more about their backstories.
If you want a delicious revenge dress, why choose, dark themes, hurt/comfort, and just all the things you love from Marie Mackay you definitely need to pick this one up.
It’s extremely rare that I enjoy the second book as much as the first. This was just as good if not better than part one. The drama picked up and got so much juicier. I so sad there’s only one more book left :( But excited for the other packs story.
4 stars 🌟 I like this one a lot better than the first book!! Wow, I love Ransom. I know that the whole purpose of why choose is not to choose, but it's okay. I love Dusk and Umbra too.
Shatter is so sweet! The revenge dress scene and slumber party scene were chef's kiss.
The cliffhanger was crazy, so im going to read the last book...
This took a turn that I did not see coming. 😱🫣 If you were hoping for more of Ransom in this book, you’ll be thrilled. He’s everything I wanted, challenging the other alphas in a delightfully unexpected way. Much to Shatter’s dismay, the pack bonds are coming together and will push her to decide if she wants the alphas who have claimed her or if she flees to her mates.
Also, Roxy is the true MVP of this book. She’s officially a ride or die bestie.
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ (4/5) Trigger warning: sexual assault
"I'm broken. That's all." - "Who told you that?" - "The whole world, I don't fit." - "Then I'll break the world until it fits you."
It’s getting interesting. The ending was amazing. The ball and the whole revenge part… omg. It was so satisfying to read. Shatter is so precious. ☺️ However, I’m still a little confused about the whole parasite and aura-sickness thing. The backstory is also a bit confusing to me, but I’m sure everything will be revealed in the final book.
⚠️ SA and abuse of h by non pack members Self harm, self branding
✅ possessive omega ✅ public sex
There was SO much to love about this book - Dusk and Ransom stole the show. Dusk will make us all swoon with his incredible lines and Ransoms possessiveness and socialite personality is a treat. Umbra had more of a side plot here and I could have used more relationship building for them. By the end of this book they’ve only slept together once (engaged in other activities, but I need more steam).
Shatter, omg she is absolutely hilarious with her omega antics. I love that Roxy’s a true friend when Shatter learns the hard way her mates are actually villains. So if there was so much to love about this book why only 3 stars? Unfortunately the continuity errors killed a lot of it for me. The way the Lincoln pack changed between Book 1&2 was confusing.
Book 1 had Flynn coming to the door before her heat saying they couldn’t stop thinking about her and they were all obsessed with her, which Dusks own inner thoughts confirmed. In Book 2 It’s like the scene never happened and they suddenly make a plan to try to steal the star (meaning romantic commitment) from Shatters pack by seducing her. Then all the sudden Shatter shows up at their door, and they completely change that plan and go with just abusing her, which doesn’t seem as effective is stealing her star. The entire time Shatter is lamenting how her mates are treating her (absolutely awful) BUT they don’t know their mates! So I didn’t understand that at all.
~ Ransom had chocolate brown eyes in Book 1. They turn to green in Book 2. ~ Flynn’s doorstep confession vs the recorded conversation timeline doesn’t match ~ Dusk could have had Umbra show Shatter how bad her mates were ~ Shatter had a bond with both Umbra and Ransom but it was forgotten about in favor of Ransom- also if she couldn’t form normal bonds why did those work? ~ the bite marks left by Lincoln pack kept changing location ~ the bonds kept changing, at first Dusk said he and Umbra never closed their bond, it changed drastically in this book ~ The Lincoln pack states they didn’t know she was gold pack, it’s not explained why that would have made a difference in how they abused her
Despite the confusion and editing issues I still enjoyed this book and will be jumping into Book 3.

{Why… why did she want him and not us?” “He’s like… the Shatter whisperer. Don’t let it hurt your feelings; they have a whole language.” “Language?” “Mostly involves brattiness and spankings and shit.”}
{I’m broken. That’s all.” “Who told you that?” “The whole world,” I whispered. “I don’t fit.” He breathed a low laugh. “Then I’ll break the world until it fits you.}

Fasten your seat belts, hang on to your hats, and watch the steep drop at the end. Just like Shattered Omega part one, this installment of the Shattered Omega trilogy is a bumpy ride that will leave you (and Shatter!) bruised, love sick, and feeling dizzy from being thrown to and fro as Dusk, Umbra, Ransom, and Shatter try to puzzle out their pasts, how it’s tied to their present, and what that might mean for their futures.
This installment of the series is thick with plot and story, with spice taking more of a backseat this time around. That’s not a bad thing at all! We got to see a whole lot of Shatter’s true personality come out, got to meet and spend time with Ransom, got to spend time with Umbra, and got to see some more of Roxy (in her role as Shatter’s nestie bestie).
There are some truly great scenes in this book that not only show off Mackay’s trademark sense of humor but also show us Shatter’s cute and feral omega side. I lived for those scenes in this book. They made me absolutely goofy. There are also scenes that will both break your heart or grow it three times in size regarding how ignorant Shatter still is about how omegas who were raised in “regular” homes behave or what they instinctively know that she doesn’t.
Did I like it as much as I did part one? No, but I honestly didn’t need to. The middle part of a trilogy tends to be the weaker link. There’s a lot of exposition, a lot of character work, a lot of moving pieces, and so the pacing had to suffer some for it. This isn’t a huge deal to me but it does take a little of the shine off.
But then Shatter gets a revenge dress and the world is good.
Please be aware you will really want to read the warnings and triggers for this book before you begin reading it. Take care of yourself.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ “There is nothing I love that hasn’t been broken and put back together. That someone hasn’t tried to take. You are mine, Shatter, and there is no bite on this planet that can change that.”
Oh shit, Marie Mackay has done it again! This is a heart-wrenching, blood-pounding, second installment of her Shattered Omega series. To say it grabbed me is an understatement. I ACHED for Shatter and her pack.
There are some challenging moments and twists. Secrets are revealed. Dark pasts are uncovered. Nothing and no one is safe.
I loved seeing a softer side of Dusk – yes, he is still a controlling and abrasive character, but the way he expresses his love of Shatter is borderline sweet.
Part Two is fast-burn and spicy with multiple heats and alpha ruts, some somno, and BDSM elements. All interactions are MF (no sword crossing).
Once again, we were left at a significant cliffhanger. I cannot wait for the completion of Shatter and her pack’s story.

*Reverse Harem *Omegaverse *Multi-PoV *Academy Setting *scent matching *damaged alphas *dub-con *fast burn *established harem (3) *2/3 Drama, dirtiness 😉 and development! This part of the trilogy is a great balance of plot, spice alongside story/character development! Shatter begins to question who and want she really want’s especially with the special kind of love that Dusk has been showing her and the care from Umbra 😍 then Ransom is thrown into the mix in an unhappy way and he insults toy becomes obsessed 🥰 but is it enough to draw her away from her scent matches?! You get answered regarding what happened to Shatter, Dusk, Umbra and Ransom and it’s certainly harrowing 😫 but you also get some ideas as to how the Lincoln place are involved 😮😮 clever clever story building! I love how Roxy is truly who she appeared to be - great besties for Shatter. This comes to a crashing cliffhanger and can’t wait for the next one!
i’m actually obsessed the character development in this book was INSANE. i loved getting to know ransom more in this book and seeing his POV of shatter / getting to know her 😭 dusk told a bit of a step back this book (makes perfect sense) and i loved him in his insane ways in the first book, seeing him be so gentle with her this book had me CRYING umbra 🥹🥹🥹 when will you ever stop blaming yourself !!!! this pack is so insanely broken but fits so well together i can’t 😭 the ending has me pulling my hair out wanting to read the next book ASAP but not wanting to finish this series!! i love these characters with my whole heart i don’t want it to end. also the fact that this is one of the few books that has female friendships in it 🫶🏽 ugh i love them all so much. i need roxy to get her HEA too
Ooooh so good. We finally get more answers, the dynamic deepens and evolves, and I love feral and unhinged alphas down bad for a traumatized omega who just wants to save them. The love is epic and the drama is too. Lots of twists and turns- also loving Shatter having a real friend too.
The audio is so well performed- Troy does such a good job distinguishing each guy with different vocal cues. So delicious.
And the hits keep coming for these four. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, but it's going to take a lot of work and dedication for them to get there.
I CANT!!!! Not this cliffhanger too!!! This book has so many twists and turns and dark serects. Who is going to come out of all this in the end? I'm completely hooked on this and can't wait to see it to the end I need all the answers
i'm literally so hooked. i feel like out of the three (dusk, umbra and ransom) ransom is my fav! also honestly fuck her pack. i literally cant deal with shatter always wanting to go to her pack. ugh! they are the absolute worst!
also, maybe v3lvetpages and i are a bit dumb, we literally could not really understand the sciencey aspect of the book lol.
this series is literally so addicting, i really need to read the third book and hopefully by then all of my questions will be answered. *fingers crossed*
Yeah, still really not feeling this series. I was just so bored the whole time. I also couldn’t really get into the story because it’s very confusing, and I also couldn’t really get into the relationships because again they were kind of predictable and boring?!? I feel like all the characteristics and idiosyncrasies that the characters had in the first book were kind of gone now and they became pretty much a bit vanilla and samesies. I feel like the book was either confusing or boring, and then the author just threw in a hard-core triggering chapter just to maybe make it more edgy? I’m not completely sure. I feel like the aftermath of that chapter wasn’t handled well by the author my opinion. Like no one’s gonna have sex the night after the day she was sexually assaulted and abused. It’s just not happening and it’s ridiculous that it was even written. I also really don’t like the fact that Roxy, whom is nice but still an unmated and unbonded omega was allowed to be so close to an alone with the leading ladies mates. It was also very strange that she was allowed in the leading ladies nest. Very strange to me. I felt like the whole aura thing was getting way over complicated and made me as a reader very confused, so there was another reason yet again that I couldn’t really get fully into the story. Apparently, on this writer website, she says that she doesn’t wanna ever give her books an HEA with pregnancy or babies because apparently that’s triggering to some people in the world?! Like what the fuck? But she’s cool with casually writing about rape and then also having that person have lots of sex right after it. She’s also very comfortable with writing non con. Yet pregnancy is taking it too far?????? Weird and disrespectful towards women.
4.25💜💜💜💜 Dark and delicious. Shatter needs to be protected at all costs.. and all her men. 😭 I think I spent the whole book on edge. And not the good kind🤣 I need to know what happens with all this new information.
CHECK TRIGGER WARNINGS ⚠️ There is thankfully an option to skip the triggering chapter, with a short summary of what happens in the back of the book.
Thanks to Marie Mackay for the opportunity to read this arc.
This was better than the first book in several ways, which is unusual. I felt like I got a more solid grasp on what was happening, although some of the plot was still a little confusing.
I finally got to meet Ransom. Dusk has really grown on me, and Umbra is adorable and probably my favourite. Ransom is sweet and protective, but since he’s lost so much time, and is relatively new to all that’s going on, he’s a little less developed. At least we get his pov, but I still don’t feel he’s as fleshed out as Duskand Umbra. Maybe the third book will help with that.
Umbra is the one that adds most of the humour. This line made me laugh out loud: “This was better than I could have expected, even if the tea tasted like musty asshole.”
Shatter (ugh, I still hate the name) has also grown on me. She can still be a ditz, but it’s actually endearing. And she’s intelligent; the ditziness seems to be with street smarts.
She panics over her first slumber party. I think that’s the scene where I went from indifference to like. While this series is clearly written with UK spelling, I did notice that they ate chips, not crisps. I don’t know why, but that felt odd.
There were a few typos, a lot of wrong punctuation , but that’s typical. Some of the things like alpha auras were a little confusing for me, especially when a lot of this book focuses on irregular auras and the whole mystery thing. It’s still interesting, even if I can’t always follow it.
I’m looking forward to the last book, and I’m just going to assume the Kingsman pack gets their HEA.
Let me just say, these cliff hangers would be killing me if I didn't already know that the next book will be out fairly soon!
With that being said, this was of course just as intense, fast paces, and suspenseful as the first..but, it gets worse before it gets better, and then it kinda gets worse again (cliffhanger) lol. That is super vague, but I don't want to give too much away since this is the second part of Shatter's story.
What I can say, however..is that Shatter really goes through it in this book. She comes out of it stronger, but it's a definitely something she has to work toward constantly..she is pushed to the limit and I honestly didn't even know if I could make it had I been in her shoes.
We learn a lot more about the past..things that change EVERYTHING. It's honestly a lot to follow, but it all comes together so just trust the process.
Shatter's story is just so intense that I find it hard to put it down once I start reading..and I feel like if I were to go back and do a re-read, it would still be just as intense as the first time. At this point, I sound like a broken record but I honestly cannot recommend this series--and literally anything Marie writes--enough! Please heed the trigger warnings, but if you have no triggers, go into it blind.
*This is NOT a standalone-Book 1 must be read first. **I received an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.
I love this series. The twists! The turns! The triggers! I just want a HEA but will I get it….. sigh… I guess I’ll just start book 3 immediately.
Knocking one star because the outrageous use of Little Reaper as a nickname was a jail-able offense. Ranson unfortunately fell victim to “RH character soup” problem where his own personality is a little blendy with the other two. I thought the character dev in book one was so good that I was a little disappointed with the way his character went. I think I just wanted him to stay feral and chained to the wall….
I received an advance copy of this book, a follow up to part one. I LOVED this part, and feel like I learned so much more about each character and their backstory. This part has it all: romance, mystery, spice, drama, and female best-friendship! I cannot wait for part three!
Now for nitty gritty: Let me just say… RANSOM!!!!!!! He was literally perfect throughout, and well worth the wait. I especially love his take on “studying” with Shatter 😏 Umbra is definitely still my favorite though, and I love getting his point of view. I can’t wait for everyone to get their banana split! Roxy is an amazing friend and I am so glad that Shatter has her. Girl was ready to post up and fight an alpha for a friend she basically just met, we love to see it!👯♀️ The chemistry with Shatter and Dusk remains explosive and I love it. Most importantly, Lincoln pack can get wrecked.

I held off on starting this series because I had a feeling this was one I was going to need to be able to binge and I have to say, I was completely enthralled by this series. This is my favorite release by Marie Mackay yet! The characters are deep and complex. The plot is thick. The mystery is consuming. There is the perfect balance of sweet and angst, with comparatively minimal bullying (from the pack). I burned through this trilogy and highly recommend.
You know what? This was pretty dang good. It did drag a little here and there but I was shocked at how well the characters were written. There were also a few scenes that were just *chefs kiss* 👌🧑🍳
