Algebra and Trigonometry [with MyMathLab & eText Access Code]

Rate this book

This package consists of the textbook plus an access kit for MyMathLab/MyStatLab.

Beecher, Penna, and Bittinger’s Algebra and Trigonometry is known for enabling students to “see the math” through its focus on visualization and early introduction to functions. With the Fourth Edition, the authors continue to innovate by incorporating more ongoing review to help students develop their understanding and study effectively.

Mid-chapter Mixed Review exercise sets have been added to give students practice in synthesizing the concepts, and new Study Guide summaries provide built-in tools to help them prepare for tests. MyMathLab has been expanded so that the online content is even more integrated with the text’s approach, with the addition of Vocabulary, Synthesis, and Mid-chapter Mixed Review exercises from the text, as well as example-based videos created by the authors.

MyMathLab provides a wide range of homework, tutorial, and assessment tools that make it easy to manage your course online.

A great book, covers a full year of mathematics with an abundance of scientific applications and engineering applications using logarithms, polynomial functions, and conic sections. I love the conic sections portion because it shows the relevance of circles, ellipses and parabolas in civil engineering when constructing a highway relating to a bridge with parabolic semicircular arches, finding the focal radii, equation that describes the situation. Moreover, the hyperbolas are used for electronics and navigation engineering with SONAR to find the location of particular point in the middle of nowhere, this is the beauty of mathematics. People like to think in society that math is dull, theory, but this book can turn on the bulb of enrichment and motivation to anyone wanting to learn math, major in math, science, economics or engineering. In the sequences section, there is the multiplier effect using economics as an application learning tool.
