This is a good prequel to Xarrok series, giving some nice back story about Keydra and Zetra, soon to be new recruits at the military academy. Keydra's character is nicely developed as we see her thoughts about her future and conflicts with her mother. Zetra's character is also developed, although to a lesser extent, as we see her interactions with Keydra and flirtatious nature. I enjoyed seeing the characters during their time before the academy, their experiences and feelings now give some depth and insight into the characters they will become.
The mysterious stalker was a great part of the story, and I wasn't expecting the ending! Nice twist!
