Sherri has returned to her passion of writing to indulge her own children's passions. A graphic designer, she lives in Chicago with her photographer husband, a cockapoo named Quincy, several fish, a few hermit crabs, an ever-changing array of insects in jars, toys in every corner, and two energetic and inquisitive young boys: one fascinated by bugs and magic and another obsessed with trucks and trains. She's constantly inspired -- and often exhausted! She created GOODNIGHT, GOODNIGHT, CONSTRUCTION SITE in hopes of happier bedtimes and sweet dreams for all.

This is Sherri's first book, and (just in case you think it can't happen!) it was picked from the slush pile.

Does your little one wave to the garbage truck each week? Don’t miss the newest addition to the Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site series where the garbage crew takes center stage.

The construction crew has a new job, to help renovate a community. The houses are rundown, the yards are full of junk, the trees are dead, and no one wants to live there anymore. As the construction crew arrives, they realize this job is too big for them to handle alone. What are they supposed to do with all the trash? They call in the garbage crew.

Even though the garbage crew is kind of smelly, they are hard workers. Roll-Off Truck brings in a huge container to load the trash into. The Container Delivery Truck brings in smaller dumpsters and lines them all up in a row. Flatbed brings even more garbage cans for each house. Soon everyone is working together to renovate the whole neighborhood.

The author shares her own story of her family finding a rundown building with solid bones and renovating it for their family to live in. My husband and I renovated our first home while our oldest children were just toddlers. We needed several dumpster containers during our construction time just like the crew in this book. Kids will love seeing the familiar construction crew characters on the page as well as meeting the new garbage crew.

This book shares important messages about working together as well as the reminder that old things can be new again. Sometimes they just need a little TLC. At the end of the project, the crew is ready for a good night’s rest…until their next project comes along.

The newest title in the Construction Site series of books, this one focuses on garbage trucks.

Rinker has her finger on the pulse of kids that love trucks. This time, the construction crew must rely on the brigade of garbage trucks to help them clear out the junk and garbage from a neighborhood that is slated to undergo urban renewal. Working together with other construction trucks, they make short work of this project. Her rhyming text is just right.

Artwork by A.G. Ford were rendered in Neocolor wax oil crayons and, again, seamlessly capture the style of Tom Lichetenheld's original Construction Site books. The garbage trucks all maintain the same charm as the others in the in series.

A fine addition to add to the wildly popular series. Highly Recommended for ages 3-8.

Jack borrowed this book from the Columbus Metropolitan Library. I picked it because he likes construction vehicles and garbage trucks.

When I first tried to read it, he wasn't interested. I think it's just a bit long for his age. There are a lot of words on most of the pages. Anyway, today, he finally let me read it all the way through. He liked the construction vehicles and was excited when I reminded him that we saw the recycling truck dump our bin just like the garbage trucks in the book. His favorite part came at the end when the trucks went to bed. He was like, "Oh, there are so many stars! It's the moon! Night moon!"

I love the illustration style of this book. The colors are surprisingly rich and it has a very hand-drawn feel to it. I also think the rhyming is really clever and flows quite naturally.

Since my boys are sophomores in high school and I was at a bookstore, I wanted to walk down memory lane and pull this new book in the series off the shelf to see if they still got it-- yup, they do! This was a perennial favorite in our home and I didn't mind reading the books over and over again. Still the case.

Aside from the friendship of the trucks and their hard work, it gives credit to the men and women operating the machinery and what they do to help build/rebuild a community as they're doing in this story. Will forever hold a place in my heart and head.

Another rhyming picture book in Rinker's popular Construction Site series. This time the hardworking vehicles team up to renovate a neighborhood. Although there's plenty of work for everyone, the garbage trucks are especially busy. Also the message of working together to fix up a neighborhood is inspiring. The comforting rhymes and large expressive illustrations continue to make this a fun series to share.

"They move the mess and organize
and separate by kind and size.

Some goes into trash, but most
is for recycling -- or compost."

Incredibly sweet, gentle rhyming story about a courageous group of construction trucks that seek to renovate a decaying, crumbling, forgotten neighborhood. They are successful with the help of their friends the fleet of Garbage Trucks! These heroic trucks deal with crazy amounts of trash... but they focus on recycling and composting! SO COOL!!!! And who doesn't love trucks???? Aimed at the youngest readers who will adore the illustrations and the story.

This author has written a number of picture book titles about various types of trucks and Rinker knows her trucks and their functions. The text of this one seems a little longer than most of her other titles as its theme beyond trucks is that of cleaning up a neighborhood that has had some neglect. Therefore this title good be used with a theme of or neighborhood improvement.

Kind of long and meh. Pretty niche, so it's great for the kid who loves garbage trucks. If one does themes, it could pair with "Every Monday Mabel" and maybe bring some garbage trucks for a touch-a-truck.

This book is the perfect level for my confident 2nd grade reader to read aloud. It flows well but still has challenging vocabulary sprinkled in. I love when they grab this book to read because I LOVE the illustrations. This has been a favorite series in my house for 8 years running.
