Ginger Rose is an indie romance author from Sydney, Australia.
With a focus on reverse harem, urban fantasy, and science fiction, Ginger writes stories that will intimidate your boyfriend. Her books are thick with plot and sprinkled with spice.
Ginger’s first love has always been writing - as a young teen, she spent many hours writing vampire fanfics under cringey pseudonyms. To this day, she still has faith a five hundred year old vampire will sweep her away to go live in a castle in a forest somewhere.
When not obsessing over magical, mythical, and extraterrestrial creatures, Ginger loves video games, live music, travel, and margaritas.
The Return of Saturn by Ginger Rose, published on April 1, 2024, is a captivating dystopian forbidden romance that offers a thrilling and emotional journey. I want to thank Ginger for the opportunity to read this amazing ARC. Despite not usually gravitating toward this genre, I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
The story follows Vaida Love, who has spent her entire life preparing to become a Huntress, an elite warrior destined to protect Earth from alien invaders. Graduating at the top of her class, Vaida is placed on team Saturn with three unexpected teammates: an elite Hunter, an astute Finder, and a non-human member who challenges her preconceptions. As she faces the external threat to Earth, Vaida also battles an internal war between her head and her heart.
Rose's writing is both engaging and accessible, making The Return of Saturn an easy read. The plot is well-paced and filled with suspense, keeping readers on the edge of their seats. Vaida's journey is compelling, and her character development is well-executed, making her struggles and growth relatable and engrossing.
The dynamics within team Saturn add depth to the story. Each teammate brings their unique skills and perspectives, creating a rich tapestry of interactions that drive the plot forward. The forbidden romance element is woven seamlessly into the narrative, adding emotional intensity without overshadowing the overarching dystopian conflict.
One of the standout aspects of the novel is how it balances action with introspection. The fight scenes are thrilling, but it's Vaida's internal conflicts and her evolving relationships with her teammates that truly resonate. The tension between her duty as a Huntress and her burgeoning feelings creates a nuanced and layered storyline.
In conclusion, The Return of Saturn is a fantastic read for fans of dystopian fiction and forbidden romance. Ginger Rose has crafted a story that is both thrilling and emotionally engaging, making it a standout in its genre. This book had me eagerly turning pages, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an exciting and heartfelt read.
FMC Vaida is our suave, kick ass main character. She is a force and she emotes so much as a character.
MMCs Kit: Hot muscly nerd? Tick. He’s down on himself a bit but provides our FMC with what she needs wink wink. A troubled past means he’s a little broody and I love it.
Mac: Angry men with daddy energy are my main meal. He’s bossy but cares and his hot smouldering flirt is on point. Chapter 31 - I reread it multiple times, beautiful asshole.
247: 100% yes. I’m entering my extraterrestrial phase (big shout out to some blue guys on an ice planet - IYKYK). So this was a great inclusion. He’s layered and sweet. He’s cake?
Story had depth - there WAS A PLOT people. Vaida is finally putting on her big girl pants and stepping into the real world of invasion and survival. There’s so many secrets that she’s tangled in.
Smut is good! I like harems that evolve one by one - none of this insta love for everyone. Make them work for it.
Lost half a star because at times the author wrote in past tense instead of current. Example: I rolled my eyes instead of I roll my eyes. Minor grammar and spelling issue that are typical of a novel.

Tropes: 🔥 Slow & fast burn 💖 Reverse Harem 🚫 Forbidden Romance 🌌 Dystopia/Sci-Fi 😈 Enemy to lovers
I received an ARC and am leaving this review voluntarily. 🫶🏻
The first book of three, The Return of Saturn, introduces us to Vaida Love, a newly graduated Huntress trained to protect humanity from invaders. Upon receiving her first assignment from the Extraterrestrial Intelligence Agency or ETIA, Vaida is placed in the prestigious Team Saturn of Sector One.
Sparks quickly begin to fly between Vaider and her three team members; Mac, the stoic leader, Kit the energetic Finder, and 247, the invader. Vaider now has to navigate the danger of her job, as well as the danger of living with the three incredibly good-looking men, each bringing something different to the table (I know who I was rooting for 👽)
Something I really enjoyed about this book was the fast-paced banter. I love a sassy, badass fmc, so Vaida ticked all my boxes.
Ginger Rose has done an incredible job with this one.
The Return of Saturn captivates from the very first page, whisking readers away into a vibrant world inhabited by compelling characters, chief among them the enigmatic Vaida Love. From the moment readers meet Vaida and her smoking hot band of merry... men -The Viking-esque McAllister, the nerdy, kind-souled, and perfectly chiselled Kit, and the enigmatic, silver-haired 247, we are drawn right into their world and trust me, you won't want to leave.
Hunter, Huntress, Finder... Alien. This harem has it all.
Ginger delivers a satisfying blend of human drama and otherworldly mystery; throwing us right into the depth of Vaida's inner monologue. Her struggles, her secrets and her desires.
The extraterrestrial intrigue adds an extra layer of depth and excitement to the narrative and you don't need to be a dedicated sci-fi reader to find joy in this book.
Ginger has given us the sexy alien book of our dreams, with the spice level turned right up to 5. (It's The Last Dab, if you know what I mean.)
The heroine of this book is ridiculous. What she thinks about herself - a badass huntress, top of the top in everything she does. Not only that, she is very attractive, "fit and toned but blessed with hourglass curves and a wicked sense of confidence", can seduce a man in 2 minutes flat (her words).
What we actually get is a special snowflake, a girl who is tripping over people, becomes a drooling lovesick teenager when she sees a handsome man, treating her friend, and others, like shit. She didn't want to kiss her date during a party because it was not professional, but 5 minutes later, she was making out with a random guy and ready to jump his bones.
The plot is nothing to talk about, either. It is not quite clear what happened, only that aliens invaded our planet. The romance..., well, she didn't do romance.
I can go on like this, the whole book is ridiculous. I just wonder, if these are the top hunters, how the aliens haven't taken over the planet yet.

Ginger Rose is a new author to me and I'm already a fan! I'll definitely be checking out her other works when I finish The Vaida Love Chronicles.
The Return of Saturn kept me interested throughout the entire book, and even though the "twist" at the end was highly predictable, that didn't detract from my enjoyment of Vaida's story.
Something that did trip me up a bit was the grammar in this book. The author is Australian, however the book is set in the US, but Australian spellings and colloquialisms were used throughout. (ie: smelt, leant, whilst, police wagon, car park, etc) This 'could' be explained away due to the book being based in the future post-near-apocalyptic occurrence, but the Scottish character maintains his own Scottish slang so I dunno.
I read a lot from authors based in countries not my own so I'm used to seeing these spellings and terms, but I've always felt like if the book is supposed to be set in the USA then the terms and spellings of the USA should be used. This is just my personal preference, though. And again, all it did was trip me up a little bit, but did not detract from my overall enjoyment of the story.
Sci-fi, futuristic, and why choose Such an interesting and original storyline. Filled with adventure, action, humor, some spice and lots more!!
Vadia is tough, smart and an overall kick butt FMC. Mac, Kit, and 247 were her teammates and love interests. I loved how different each of them were too.
I think this was a great beginning to the series! The author left us with questions and a cliffhanger of course, but she also left us wanting more!!!
(Want to understand my rating scale? Head to my p!nned post on my square photos app where I break it down!)
It’s as if Boba Fett, Star Trek, Continuum, Brooklyn 99, and NCIS all thrown into a blender to create the best dystopian SciFi cocktail.
The Return of Saturn releases on April 1st on Kindle, paperback, and KU (USA time) and is book one in a three-book series “The Vaida Love Chronicles”.
I am not typically someone who enjoys reading SciFi, but I enjoy watching it, so when a post about this book came across my feed it caught my eye and I am so glad I signed up for an A.R.C because this book took me by surprise in the best way. I inhaled it in LESS than 24 hours!!! Yep, you read that correctly.
The book is set in a future earth, so it feels a lot like an urban fantasy or dystopian novel with SciFi elements, making it a book that can appeal to so many people.
Ginger had me intrigued with the story and besotted with her characters from the beginning (even including the s*xy Scottish slang). I cannot wait to see how the relationships develop in books 2 and 3 - both inside the harem and outside. The imagery in her descriptions and the chemistry in her banter were both top-notch.
There’s only one alien in the harem, and their species are quite human-like… I kind of imagined them as a cross between Doug Jones, Legolas, and (book version) Draco Malfoy - in the hottest way possible. 😉 Physically, he is juuust different enough to not turn off readers who don't usually read monster or SciFi romance and yet still be hot af for those that do 🥵
“Of course the tall, mysterious Extraterrestrial loved hot chocolate.”
The plot held me in a vice grip right until the last page, where it abruptly threw me off a cliff I’ve affectionately named ‘The Plot Twist’.
Highly recommend giving this one a go, even if you’re on the fence about the SciFi! 👽
✨ reverse harem ✨ bounty hunters ✨ well-written spice woven throughout ✨ plot-heavy ✨ a mix of slow burn and fast burn within the harem ✨ forbidden romance ✨ no mm (though personally, I am hoping that changes in book 2 😏)
4.5 Stars this was so good! Such a unique take on a sci-fi romance! I loved the characters and the plot was so interesting! I love when the fmc is a baddass all on her own and the mmcs know it. I can’t wait to see what happens in book 2!
Absolutely adored this book and cannot wait to read the rest of the series. The characters are so vastly different from one another and well written, I feel like I know them, and can visualise them all so clearly. Not my usual genre, but I'm so hooked.
I’m in love and book 2 can’t come soon enough. From the moment I started reading to the cliffhanger ending, this book is all consuming. Obsessed and Highly recommend. Xx
