EN In this volume, we witness the aftermath of Misaki’s rescue by Sato.
Afterwards, Sato decides to retreat to the mountains for a few days to hone his skills. Kuroshio, who aspires to become an assassin himself, asks to join him, and together they end up sharing some genuinely amusing moments.
Meanwhile, Yoko, bored from being alone, starts getting into little mischiefs of her own, also leading to funny and lighthearted situations.
All in all, it’s a relaxed and cheerful volume that offers a fun break in the story.
This volume finally brings the series back to a bit of comedy, but it's still struggling with tone. It wants to tell us how much of a cool badass this guy is, but every single action manga stars a cool badass guy! That's not funny or original! The the central gag here is that the cool badass guy tends to act like a weird child. And it's very funny when he does that! But those moments are too few and far between, so we just get regular action scenes. I guess I'll keep reading, but let's please focus up!
It is now “Fable goes into the woods with a knife, and the guy stupid enough to join him” arc. A very welcome decompression from the unrelenting tension of the last volume, and a great way to get deeper into Fable’s way of thinking with a new perspective.
It also manages to land a bit of a mixture of sadness and humor out of his lack of social graces, with the whole drawing bit.
The way it cross cuts between Fable and his “student” getting ready to fight a bear and his “sister” going on a date with a pickup artist asshole she wants to mess with is absolute gold. Just a masterclass in how to contrast things and create comedic tension, and also show how Fable and his handler are both in fact experts at what they do.

The aftermath of the warehouse is good housekeeping, no one needs to know the real history of Fable. Misaki is better off not knowing, and thankfully Captain Ebihara takes care to clean it up. the camping arc is always informative. Fable getting back to his roots. cool that the author did his own research and experience to get it accurate. A bear in the wild is no joke.
