The Taboo Series is a Romance Novel following the lives of 26 year old Ruthie and 18 year-old Carter as told in Taboo and Holiday Hijinks. They've been combined to be read together. This book is for ages 18+ due to sexual situations. This bundle includes the first two books in the series.
Who is he?
He's the eighteen-year-old lifeguard at the pool.
I'm a twenty-six-year-old woman babysitting for the summer, before going to grad school.
He's one step away from jailbait (his birthday was eight days ago. Yes, I checked).
I'm not necessarily a cougar yet, but closer to cougar than high school girl.
He's hot, and by hot, I mean holy crap. And by holy crap, I mean, when I first saw him, I thought he was twenty-one. Minimum.
But he's not twenty-one. He's eighteen and off limits. But he has this back and these shoulders and everything about him is yummy and I just want to touch him.
Once.
* There is an additional 5,000 words of material added to Taboo, book 1.
Roxy lives in the South with her family, two dogs and a semi-feral cat. She loves to hang out with her friends, ogle hot young men and then write dirty stories about them.
This book was awesome! I love when an author adds humor to a romance novel and add in the fact that it was about an older woman and younger man and I am in love!!!
The banter between Ruthie and her friend Finley was hilarious!! I think my new favorite word is dickmatized!!
"Oh honey, oh God. You fell for him. He dickmatized you." "What?" "He hypnotized you with his dick."
Ruthie is a 28 year woman babysitting for the summer. Carter is the 18 year old HOT lifeguard at the pool. Ruthie and Finley spend their days fantasizing about Carter until one day, Ruthie just decides to go for it. This is the story of a summer fling that turns into love. Ruthie just wanted to have fun with Carter and teach him how to please a woman, she wasn't expecting either of them to have feelings. But they do...and even though she pushes him away, they find their way back to each other!
Ruthie and Carter's story continues in Holiday Hijinks when Ruthie takes Carter to her parent's home for the holiday. These two still can't keep their hands off each other and have to sneak around since Ruthie is scared to tell her parent's about their relationship. I still loved the chemistry and connection between these two but Ruthie's continued insecurities about the age difference got to be a bit too much. Carter was confident and had no problem letting everyone know of his love for Ruthie. The gift he gives her for Christmas was perfect. Loved how everything came together in the end!
The only that's missing is an epilogue! Hope the author continues the story, this time from Carter's POV!!!
Hot, sexy, younger man - slightly older woman - what's not to love!
This is an awesome bundle.
Ruthie (28 years old) - preparing to go to grad school, takes a job as a nanny to work for the summer. She spends her days at the pool and taking care of the girls.
Carter (18 years old) – going to college and life guarding at the pool Ruthie attends.
Ruthie sees him for the first time and is in severe lust with him. Knowing that she is boarding on “cougar” status with him, she avoids him. Keeping her sunglasses on, she watches and lusts after him from afar. They share one electric moment and she’s lost. She makes him an offer to “prepare” him to be the ideal lover for any of his future girl friends.
This back fires as they both develop feelings for each other. Ruthie thinks this is a disaster because they will be going to the same college in the fall. She has it in her mind she will ruin his future if she stays in his life. She pushes him away, only to make it worse for both of them.
This is a sweet, SEXY, romance HEA that will you keep you up trying to finish. Roxy Queen draws you in with a great story about lust, sex, love and figuring out that age really doesn't matter.
How this was written and the issues they had made sense. It was told well and was believable. I like both main characters and the best friend.
This was a nice hea with minimal drama because the age gap wasn’t that big. 9 years. The steamy scenes were good. But one I had no idea what position they were in.. haha. This edition had a few too typos for me. But I would read more from this author.
This book has the level of chemistry between the two main characters that I love!!! I couldn’t help but fall in love with Carter right along with Ruthie.
I have a thing for books featuring an older female/younge male, not gonna lie. I don't think they're taboo, especially when both characters are of legal age. Are books featuring older men/younger females considered taboo? No! So I don't understand the stigma that is sometimes attached when the female is older. Double standard I tell ya!
My feelings for this book when through the same growth process Ruthie and Carter's relationship did. It started out fun, got a little rocky, then grew to love. What started out as just a summer fling, a little something fun for both of them, turned into so much more than either expected or was prepared for.
I have to say Carter is a doll. He grew into such a sweet, caring, loving young man. Ruthie's indecision and insecurities really hurt him, and that made me sad for him. "No," he says, giving me the most wishful look. "But for one moment, just one, your were mine." Ahhh, my heart broke a little for him there.
For being such a quick read, and not expecting really much out of it, this little series really wormed its way into my heart.
Ruthie is a 27 yr old grad student that recently her ex broke off their wedding.
Carter is a 28 yr old getting ready for college.
After Ruthie's wedding is canceled she gets a job as a nanny before her graduate studies begin. While hanging out with the kids she sees Carter. Carter is a life guard that had a great body.
A summer fling was all it was supposed to be. Can they leave it at that???!
This story is funny and serious Love the ending!!!!!
If you are looking for a fun read the Taboo and Holiday Hijinks bundle is the place to start. Some laughs, a little drama (not heavy) and a whole lot of sexy. The only problem I had with these two books is that I finished them too fast. Being the grandma cougar that I am (just in my head), I could use a lot more Carter.
