The Sanctum, an all-powerful governing body founded by ten families, entrusted to maintain the peace amongst Magicals and ensure the ignorance of humans, has been corrupted by greed and savagery for generations, but is all Wyatt Clayworth has ever known.
Dev, the hybrid demon prophesied to bring an end to The Sanctum and destroy the world for Magicals and humans alike, is not what Wyatt expected to find when sent out on his latest mission. Believed to be hunting a killing machine, Wyatt finds little more than a broken girl with haunted eyes and a bit of a death wish. Drawn to one another for reasons they cannot begin to explain to themselves, much less anyone else, Wyatt is determined to protect Dev and help her realize her mission to avenge the deaths of her family at the hands of The Sanctum.
Set against the backdrop of New York City, THE GIRL is described as "outstanding, original, complex, deep and intoxicating", a "well written, unique...fast-paced read" that begins as one girl's simple quest for revenge and evolves into a complicated tale of trust, friendship, honor and love.

Well, Madhuri Blaylock sure knows how to start a book off with a bang and end with a doozie of a cliffhanger. 'The Girl' is about several young paranormals running amok in New York. These teenagers, however, are not young. They have been running from or for the all-powerful Sanctum. At 16 you are already a warrior, and the characters reflect the maturity that goes with dispensing justice on behalf of the governing body. I would classify this as New Adult except the characters are technically in their teens.
The Sanctum is the governing force that controls the population of magicals be it angel, vampire, troll, werewolf, faerie, etc. It also ensures humankind isn't let in on the secret. If magicals step out of line, a warrior is sent to take it out for the common good. This started happening a bit more freely once the ranking Sanctum family became the Breslin's. One must question if the motives of The Sanctum are as pure and just as they should be.
When Carter Breslin sends out a decree to exterminate a hybrid, half Angel/half Demon, everyone is sent searching for a holy terror the likes of which no one has seen before. Wyatt Clayworth and his best friend Ryker, class A Sanctum warriors, are the ones who find her, specifically Wyatt. Until this point, Wyatt had been the perfect warrior and Sanctum member. He follows orders, but when he finds the hybrid is broken girl rather than an apocalyptic monster, he becomes uncertain. She turns his life, and the lives of those he cares about upside down. In the process they may alter the entire Sanctum. The definition of a holy terror may have to be redefined.
The book is fun. It sucked me in from the beginning. It was nice to decide I wanted to finish the book after 5 pages instead of needing to wait fifty. There is romance, romance that is categorized better as fated rather than instant love. It is a device rather than a failure of the author's capability to develop a believable love story. First and foremost, this is the story of warriors bent on revenge.
Every character is good-looking, and I do mean every character. I rolled my eyes for a minute, in my head telling myself this isn't believable, and then I remembered I was reading a fantasy about creatures that don't exist. I decided I could suspend my disbelief and started to enjoy myself again. My only other concern came in when I realized these teenagers acted like thirty year olds. For the most part their interactions are far to mature. In my head, I once again said this isn't believable, remembered its fantasy, stopped being ridiculous, and went back to enjoying a good story. It certainly isn't going to hurt anyone to have a little maturity role modeled. It is good fun light urban fantasy, and provided some much needed escapism for me.
The next book, 'The Boy,' is out and I purchased it about 10 seconds after I finished 'The Girl.' Ms. Blaylock leaves you with a serious cliffhanger, and anyone who reads my blog knows I'm not known for literary patience.
We have The Sanctum, an organization put in place by the Gods to rule and protect. However, where power exists, so often does corruption. The leadership of The Sanctum is sick and twisted.
We have The Sanctum warriors. They are honorable and highly trained warriors. Unfortunately, they follow orders blindly. The exception are three of our four main characters, Wyatt, Ryker, and Jools who see with clear eyes the corruption in The Sanctum. Yet, they feel honor-bound to defend it, for what it was in it’s better days and with the hope that it will shine again.
Finally, we have Dev, The Girl. She is a hybrid of demon and angel and she is being hunted by The Sanctum. Her crime? Being born.
When Dev and Wyatt meet, the two mortal enemies feel an instant connection, and Wyatt does the unthinkable. He defies The Sanctum for the very first time.
This book is filled with thrilling action and kick-ass scenes. There are battles, torture, healing, despair, triumph, love, but most of all, friendship. The story is a coming of age for these four main characters as they step into leadership roles and act as the catalyst for the righting of decades of wrongs. The story leaves you on the edge of your seat and you will love it. I promise. By the end of it, you will come to care for the characters.
I want to take a moment to highlight Ms. Blaylock’s writing style. She is a skilled writer who carries a rhythm in her written words. It’s not a lyrical style, but rather you can hear the ups and downs of tone and the quickening and slowing of pacing as though she were reading it to you. With grace and style, she will sweep you along the journey with her.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Madhuri Blaylock's first book of The Sanctum series, The Girl. The story was intriguing and I loved learning about the organisation of The Sanctum with its dutiful and faithful as well as the corrupted members. The style was interesting in that certain parts, with Dev (Demon-Angel hybrid) for example, were written with economic, almost report-like efficiency which worked very well for the character and heightened the action scenes as well as telling us something about The Girl's mindset. Dev is forced to alter her preconceptions about the Sanctum significantly as the story develops and she learns hard truths and finds her soul mate in Wyatt, a dedicated warrior from the very organisation whose mission is to kill her. Miss Baylock makes a nice job of making her fantastical characters realistic and compelling, developing them enough that I want to know more and I will definitely be downloading further books in the series. This exciting first instalment ends on cliffhanger and sets up nicely for the next in the series.
*Copy provided in exchange for an honest review* "I don't think she'll ever see me anything but Sanctum... but for me, I stopped being Sanctum the second I saw her." I am in love with this woman and her talent with the written word! This book has it all, magical beings and badass warriors. Love and hate. I swear, every character was a complete and utter badass in their own right. I couldn't help but be in awe of them all!! Especially, my main three: Wyatt, Ryker and Dev!! Jesus, I can NOT choose between the two guys, I will take both! Both are extremely swoon-worthy, physically and personality wise! I'm surprised I wasn't face-planting the floor every time their names popped up. Also, they have one of the B.E.S.T. friendship bonds I have ever read about. I respect them so much, my heart yearns to meet them in real life! Ugh, if I wasn't already impressed by their badassery then their hearts would have done the deal. They are too amazing for words, you will have to experience them for yourself. There was a case of insta-love but I got over it really quick. Especially since I don't want to be a hypocrite, I fell in love with both guys off the bat... I don't care if they're younger haha. The plot was intense! It chased away all reality and demanded my attention even when I wasn't reading it! (I would've read it in one sitting if I didn't have other books to read.) I am glad, since I never wanted this to end! Yes, there are more books but still, it was painful to put down. Oh, and I. HATE. AVA... and Carter. And Max... basically, Madhuri created some of the worst villains, in the best way. I wanted to reach inside the book and take them down myself! Anyway, I am having withdrawals. This is one of the best books I've read in my lifetime!
Madhuri Blaylock's The Sanctum Book One: The Girl centers on "the Girl," a young warrior named Dev, who is targeted for termination by the Sanctum, a powerful governing body of ten founding families. They rule over a society that is much like our current one, except that, along with humans, it contains Magicals (werewolves, vampires and fairies) and Sanctum warriors (humans with extraordinary capabilities). Dev's lineage and unique capabilities poses a threat to one family in particular, the Breslins, and they stop at nothing to eliminate that threat.
This fantasy/paranormal novel features some of the most developed characters that I've ever read in any genre for both young adults and adults. Their strong personalities are well-suited for the complex relationships that they have with each other such as family, bromance, friends with benefits, and soul mates. The story will keep you engaged and on the edge until the very end. However, be forewarned that this is the first of a trilogy, so you will need to continue with the second and third books for the conclusion. I am certainly looking forward to completing this series.
This book is so good and I feel like everyone needs to know about it. It started off feeling like City of Bones with the Magicals and the Academy being easy points of comparison but this is so much more. All the characters are so fleshed out and different and YES. Dev is a hybrid, half demon, half angel and she's awesome. We get to go through her ups and downs with her and it's easy to connect to her in a way. Wyatt is a warrior and we get to see how as soon as he meets Dev there's a connection. Like when I say their chemistry is off the charts like it jumps off the page. Ryker is his partner in crime, brother, all the words to connect these two because they understand each other like no one else can. Also helps that he's apparently the hottest specimen haha Jools is Wyatt's sister and she's a firecracker! Darby is a vampire and she's like a female Magnus Bane mixed with Lesta to me. I love her sassiness and her intense connection to Wyatt and Ryker. & let's not even delve into the Breslins, they are deliciously evil. Okay enough gushing, read this book friends! Madhuri's characters need to be experienced.
Such a creative book; I really enjoyed the adventurous tale, the witty characters, the tensions and relationships, the settings... Very much looking forward to reading the next one!
The Girl’ is a YA Paranormal fantasy novel filled with magic, vampires, warriors, lots of juicy action, revenge and even political intrigue. It dares to poke holes in the mindset that many governments have where teenagers can join the military (The Sanctum in this instance) to fight and kill for them but they’re still not allowed to drink alcohol or make up their own mind. Due to this many soldiers find themselves fighting for the side they assumed was good but turned out that war or being the ruling class is not so black and white. Which is exactly where we meet Ryker, Wyatt and his sister, Jools. All extremely talented warriors for the Sanctum and not a one older than 21. They make hard life or death choices for countless supernatural creatures that the Sanctum deem dangerous and yet they’re kept in the dark about so many other shady Sanctum dealings. One such nasty case leads them in the path of The Girl, Dev. She’s half angel, half demon and all badass, She’s also public enemy number 1 according to the Sanctum. I’ll stop right there so I don’t give the whole book away but I urge you to read The Girl. It’s well written, evenly paced, thrilling AND intriguing. It’s a real page turner because you want to know MORE. You want the Sanctum to get whats coming to them. You want Dev and the gang to be the ones to take them down. And you really, really want to read this book!! And there’s good news too, THERE’S A SEQUEL called The Boy.
Who wants to read about handsome men, gorgeous vampires, and deadly women? OK you can put your hand down now and use it to pick up The Girl. It's an escapist fantasy of the paranormal genre with a diverse cast which is something a lot of authors could take note of.
Premise: Dev is a hybrid. Which wouldn't be so bad except that the Sanctum has orders to kill her on sight. Oh don't worry it gets worse. You see the Sanctum has Class A Warriors who excel at killing hybrids, vampires, and other magicals. But as fate would have it the class A Warrior that literally stumbles upon Dev is taken by her beauty and begins to question everything. And that's when the fun begins.
Summary: The writing is good and builds tension throughout the book. The writer is especially strong when writing scenes for Darcy the delicious Southern bell vampire. The romance is also done with a deft touch and is a pleasure to read. And if I had one complaint it would be that when it comes to the fight/battle scenes to do more show and less tell. Dev is supposed to be the baddest thing on the planet and Wyatt and Ryker are both class A Warriors so stop telling me how badass they are and show me. But that is a small complaint compared to everything else that was so well done.
I loved this book right from the beginning. It is well paced and the cast of characters is as well developed as it is diverse. I was instantly drawn into the plot and felt connected with Dev, Wyatt, Ryker and Jools. I couldn’t help but admire Wyatt who defies The Sanctum when he meets Dev and feels an instant connection to her. I loved Dev, the kick ass heroine and I also really liked the relationship between Wyatt and Ryker. I thoroughly enjoyed the backstories of the characters which made me relate to them on a deeper level.
The whole concept of The Sanctum, an ancient organization which hides corruption within its ranks and Dev , the angel/demon hybrid was fascinating to me. I also loved the fact that there is a variety of magical beings and that there is quite a lot of snarkiness throughout the novel.
I cannot wait to read the next two books in the series and would recommend this to anyone who enjoys action/adventure, fantasy and diversity.
I enjoyed The Girl, the first book in the Madhuri Blaylock fantasy trilogy. While the underlying diversity was appealing, it was the story itself that drew me in to discover the characters. The author painted the story with broad strokes. Set in a military academy highlights were budding romance, young, ambitious and fierce warriors, almost unbreakable friendship and family bonds, mystifying attraction beyond reason, and beneath it all a deepening mystery surrounding the almost invincible yet surprisingly vulnerable Girl. Eventually, when I recovered from the disappointment of the cliffhanger ending, I was drawn to The Boy, the second book in the trilogy.
Am amazing book by any standard. The characters are not cookie-cutter archetypes, they surprise at every turn. Heroes have villainous parts and villains can seem heroic. But make no mistake, the story has heft, suspense and action. All come alive through the words on the page. Can't wait for the second book!!!
This was book 1 in my 2015 challenge and it was such a great book! I love the universe this book is set in, and the characters are engaging and easy to root for. I def plan to read book 2 in the series.
What happens when the organization that is all you have ever known, has always been at the center of all you do and believe in turns out to be a derelict version of its original self and all you have given your life for is a faced for corruption, greed and power? The Sanctum’s mandate was to maintain balance and peace among magicals while never allowing them to be exposed to the human world they live in.
Two fierce warriors, closer than brothers, able to feel each other’s thoughts and needs are tasked with hunting down an evil and dangerous hybrid demon who is said to be a threat to all that is good. All in a day’s work for Wyatt and Ryker, who follow the “rules” in their own way. What happens when one of them finds the evil demon and discovers she is not as they were told, but beautiful, strong and very alone? For Wyatt, Dev is the part of his soul that is missing, but she is also part of an age old prophecy that will bring the world as he knows it to ruin, or so he is told. Does Dev know who and what she is besides a nearly immortal killing machine who has finally learned about love? What is Wyatt willing to risk for this beautiful angel of death? What are the consequences of his actions and his feelings?
Madhuri Blaylock rocked me back on my heels with The Girl! First, a little background, I purchased this book some time ago, then, I won all three books in the trilogy! Yes, I did the Happy Book Dance, but after reading this well-told, and incredibly unique take on “prophecies of doom,” I was ready to throw a gala event, after kicking myself in the bookmarker for not reading this sooner!
Ms. Blaylock knows how to build her world, color it ominous, and add the perfect blend of quirky, unique and often hysterical characters who brighten each scene like roman candles going off! The dialogue and banter alone is enough to forget the outside world of reality is calling as I shut all non-essential events out. Dev is the work of a master storyteller, at times a little blurry, but as each pages progresses she opens like a flower to reveal her true self. I loved her. Feel free to hiss and boo the bad guys, I did.
Looking for your next great series that is colored outside the “normal” lines of the paranormal? Check out Madhuri Blaylock’s Sanctum Trilogy, its light, its dark, and it even has romance!

This book called The Girl was phenomenal! Its a action packed adventure that throws every emotion to man at you! Its been a while since I felt so much in a book. Madhuri you realign made this a joy of a ride! I will definitely read anything that women rights. She just oozes kick ass in her writing.
I love Wyatt because he is so true to nature and self. He's definitely hot and one bad ass warrior! Ryker he is a true ladies man! Omg he is just oz zing fine! He is true to Wyatt though because they make an unstoppable team. They have a bond beyond that of a brother. Their in sync and that is a bond that's untouchable. Then their is Jools. Feisty girl that is a bad ass and though irritates Ryker, she's managed to pull him in! Then their is Dev the hybrid. She is one fine women that is a warrior through and through. Everybody just wishes they where the bad ass that Dev is. When Wyatt and Dev meet e, even though their enemies, you could feel the pull of their attraction and their undeniable want for each other. That starts this journey of adventure and burning desire. Darby is the vampire that has stolen the hearts of these two men. They have a bond that is strong and undeniable faithful. She's considered the Queen of New York and knows all. Everyone southern women would envy the sass on that women. I cant decide if I love her more or Dev. I think they are a force to be reckoned with that's for sure! All the different magicals and healers make an interesting turn of events within the story.
The Sanctum was put in force to protect and rule. Most follow it no matter the cost. These four and the families and ties entwined most definitely use there values to guide them. All the different types of magicals, vampires, and hybrids seem to be most loyal to the four main characters and their family. This book shows you the love that they have for each other and the huge family that is so dedicated.
This is one ride I'm in the long hall for! This one left me hanging so I'm onto the next one. I can't wait to see what is in store for me next!
When I started this book, I had some expectations but this book went beyond my expectations. The Girl by Madhuri Blaylock, is an excellent paranormal romance with intense action. Even though paranormal is my least favorite genre and it has been long that I have read one, Madhuri’s writing certainly made me accustomed to it.
With the good plot, the characters are thoroughly developed and easily adaptable. The pace is one of my favorite part about this book. It does not make you feel that you are crawling through it to read it. The concept of the book is basically love/hate relationship type that makes it more interesting to read. The alteration of changing POV of characters vigorously was a point I did not like much in this book but I do understand the hard work author has put in it. There some instances in the book that will certainly leave you on the edge of your seat wanting more and you can get more in the next book.
The Girl is the first book in THE SANCTUM Trilogy and it is recommended. I cannot wait to read the other two.
I received a copy of this book for an honest review. This is a great read featuring a new take on the paranormal world. The Sanctum is an organization that oversees the safety of the human and magical world (or so they claim) but somewhere in the 10 families that rule it there was a power struggle and now it is becoming corrupted. Wyatt, and his partner in battle Ryker, are two of the top class A warriors of the Sanctum and they sense this corruption, but are still fighting for the Sanctum … until they meet a mysterious girl and their whole world changes. I love the development of the characters in the story, and the action driving the plot forward. This book definitely keeps you on your toes! Wyatt and Ryker have an amazing bond that I loved exploring in this book, and Wyatt’s little sister Jools is probably my favorite character! I love her story and can’t wait to see her develop throughout the series. Dev is another amazing character and watching her relationship with Wyatt develop on their journey down destiny’s path was truly magical. Darby was another of my favorite characters andI’m hoping she will also continue to be integrated into the main plot, because I can see her going a little crazy and I love the different element she brings to the tone of the story. The only problem I had at all with this book, was getting used to the authors writing style of switching which characters she was following each chapter, but after about 4 chapters of that, I was fine because I got used to the tone of each character and I ended up really appreciating the style as it added a little extra suspense and urgency to the read! I was up all night reading this, and I can’t wait to see what happens next … I will definitely be following this amazing series and I highly suggest you come along with me!
What an amazing ride through love, loss, and adventure. i thoroughly enjoyed this story. an ad on goodreads peaked my interest so i checked out amazon and purchased this a while back. i just got around to reading. i started about a month ago and and only got through two chapters. Then, this week i remembered i never went back to it, so i started reading again and finished the rest in less than 24hrs. It was such a ride and I truly had no idea which way it would go. I can totally see this being a great movie. I need the next installation in the story ASAP.
My only con is I was a little disappointed that all this unprecedented power of Dev's really doesn't shine through. When I imagine the concept of her being, I think witch, warrior, healer, and something extra beyond my mind's eye. But all i seem to get is this warrior that keeps having to be rescued so to speak. She doesn't come across any different or better than Wyatt, Ryker, and Jools in the warrior department...actually, they come off more capable than her. So I'm wondering is it a potential not realized greatness or what. She seems a lot of bark and no bite in the extraordinary department beyond her looks and her ability to heal (which she even is surprised at (and cheated with in the Darby situation)). I mean that speech she gave Wyatt when he was concerned about her bleeding had me in awe...and yet...i have yet to see her back it up. I would attribute it to her not being what Carter is marketing her out to be if she herself didn't proclaim to be the alpha and omega of demon and angel.
All that doesn't stop me from highly recommending this read and having you join my ranks of waiting on pins and needles for The Boy.
I've got one word to start off with to describe this book and that is "SUPERB".
The author was kind enough to lend me a copy to read, i was a bit reluctant to read it first since i thought 'that's not a good title for a book',well after reading even a bit of it my conception and thoughts about this spectacular book reversed entirely and i am happy to say that i thoroughly enjoyed it.
This book is like a rollar coaster ride, it will excite you and keep you occupied entirely and make you want to read more, and i'll explain a bit as to why you will feel that way. Ok, so we have a whole cast of very interesting characters some are human, hmmm well humanish, then there are vampires, werewolves, trolls and other magical creatures that are hidden behind veils so ordinary humans can't tell that they are around.
Our main character, well one of them, is a warrior, one of the best if i might add and is the duty full son of his ancient family, He is loyal to his family and friends and is considered a kind of role model by the rest of the people and so that tells us that he follows the rules and does what he is ordered, at least until he meets Dev, a broken girl in more ways than one whom he is ordered to kill but instead helps her achieve her goal to find those who killed her family and make them pay for it.
Readers of Fiction and Fantasy will love reading this book, so if you can get this book i would advise you to buy it, You will not be disappointed.A warning to those who do not like violence and blood ,since we have a lot of that in this marvelous story, I just finished reading and i can't wait to read the next part, kudos to Madhuri for that.
Wow. What a book. Just sensational. The Girl was recommended to me. It is an action packed New York based fantasy thriller.
Madhuri is very clever. The book has a number of interesting elements. It is a fun read and definitely a page turner.
The 4 main characters are beautiful young people. There is a continued interesting commentary about how spectacularly beautiful Dev and Jools are, and about how tall, muscular and handsome are Ryker and Wyatt. However, they are all functional super warriors, face great dangers and have a destiny to fulfil. They all have different strengths, talents and powers. Dev may be a God.
I understand that the Vampire Darby is a fan favourite. Darby is little, very beautiful, very powerful. She is the Queen of New York. The boys love Darby, she loves them. She is a most intriguing character.
The use of ancient Vampires in this book is nicely done and adds well to the fabric of the story.
An element that I liked a lot was the tension between Darby, Jools and Dev. This has been intertwined into the story really well. The jealousies, relationship and interaction between the three girls is very interesting for the reader to be observing.
The magical elements off the book are nicely blended into the story. The lengthy discussions of the healing processes after one of the warriors has almost died is important to the story, as well as interesting and entertaining.
We have been left hanging at the end of this book. There was a glimmer ... and then "The End". What happens next?? We have no choice but to read The Sanctum: The Boy and then wait for the third book!
as I was saying before I ran out of space. I would love to see this unfold once a week for a crap load of seasons on T.V. I can see the rough corners of the story but it has been like an unfolding of richness. I feel like I am getting all this wonderful ground work laid for me to inhabit this place where all the crazy wondrous things will happen. Sometimes when I am reading I have to go back to put two and two together because I miss something.. It has not happened since I picked up the story.I picture it unfolding like Buffy the Vampire Slayer did when it was on..teamsunnydale4life!! Woooot Wooooot!. I just do not know how you put something with the amount of detail and story to bed because it just seem like there is so much to tell.. As you can tell I do not like it at all.. LOL.. alas as I have yet to finish it let me leave..HOLLA! FEB 17, 2015 As I was reading someones review of the the story on Amazon this person said what I was thinking.. I found myself slowing down just so I could concentrate on the flow of the words. It felt like the book was one long sentence, the current like a river that ran together creating a beautiful story...I could not figure out why my slow reading self was reading this extra slow..I mean I do have a tendency to go back into the books I am reading when there are changes and I need to just look back to see the unfolding of the story. The flow is what it was. I found myself not wanting the story to end but also knowing I had to move to the next part to have a complete picture but sad because I know what was coming next The Final Part...The close of Dev's Story to begin Wyatt's Story and then their story as whole in The Prophecy.
*This Book Was Given To Me By The Author In Exchange For An Honest Review*
I totally loved this book!Madhuri Blaylock is a wonderful writer! I couldn't put the book down for a second! I story was unique, exciting and full of intrigue. The Characters were different, witty and all together a great bunch of people, who I would defiantly would like to read more about!
I Loved the character of Dev I thought she was and altogether smashing type of gal, I also had a big soft spot for Darby. Darby seems to bring out this softness in everyone it seems for a badass and sassy vamp and I think that is one of the best parts about her. I loved the friendship between Wyatt and Ryker and who can forget the spunky and fierce little sis!
the villains weren't all together that scary in this but the meaning of menace and discord came across very well. Luc was by far the scariest of them all and after what he did to Darby I would say they should all stay away from that one...lol
Madhuri Blaylock is a wonderful writer and I can't wait to see what happens next to these characters as this one ends in somewhat of a cliffhanger. If your looking for a good paranormal thriller full of magic, demons and fighting this is the book for you! get your copy today!

I read this book sometime ago. I feel awful that I didn't review it sooner. I met Madhuri on Twitter @madhuriblaylock, and I now consider her a friend. Just talking to Madhuri I could instantly tell that she was a badass chick. It didn't surprise me that her main character Dev is also a badass chick. This was one of those books that I had already purchased the second book, The Boy, before I had finished, The Girl. I knew before I had even finished it that I would have to read it immediately after. I am now not so patiently waiting for the third book. I saw Madhuri had posted that the third and final book is now being read by some very lucky beta readers. I am super excited to read the next book, not so excited that it will also be the last in this series. The love between the two characters eclipses all prejudices. A hybrid girl that the sanctum has been searching for to distroy was found by one of the most stringent warriors. This warrior was known to follow orders, and to never question what he had been ordered to do. Until he met Dev. The first story leaves you panting to know what happens next. Your heart is ripped out in the end, and all you can do is plung it back into your chest while frantically searching for the one-click button on Amazon.
'The Girl,' is an amazing start to what I'm sure will be a wonderful series. Following the life of a less than human girl, Dev, the story introduces us to the world of The Sanctum.
The Sanctum is a foundation set up by the Gods to protect both humans and magicals, and at the start of the story we find out that they are hunting down Dev and her family.
On the run, Dev finds herself in New York where she falls in love with the most unlikely person, a Sanctum Warrior. The half angel, half demon girl, has to face who she really is, and the destiny that lies before her, if she is going to survive the incessant attacks by those who seek to destroy her.
This is an incredibly well written book and kept me hooked from beginning to end. I eagerly look forward to devouring the second book, and would recommend the story to anyone who enjoys fantasy. At first, I thought the concept of the story was slightly reminiscent of the Cassandra Clare, Mortal Instruments novels, but Blaylock is definitely not mimicking anyone. The intricate world building and the fabulous characters make this story a must read. Check it out!
I found Madhuri through a new friend and am wondering why I didn't know about her sooner. This book introduces you the The Sanctum the governing body for all those magical and to Dev the hybrid they want to kill. Enter Wyatt and Ryker best friends and top in their class at the Sanctum who were sent to search for her. What happens after they find her is a tale of love, friendship, righting wrongs and realizing who you are doesn't mean that's who you're meant to be. The cast of characters helping them and hindering them on this journey make this a powerful story one that you don't want to put down. An amazing start to the triology!

This the first novel, that I have read from this incredible Author. I can't wait to continue reading more about this story. The characters are described in vivid details. The action, within this book is like watching it in a movie. I don't want to geo anything away, so just sit back and enjoy. You won't be disappointed.
