Huge wealth of information

I learned a great deal from this book. Not only did I learn about the different parts of the brain and their functions, but also how to change/improve how well they function. Pillar 5 about social connections was a huge one for me as I have struggled with this in the past. Specifically, Patrik Meyer mentions the importance of joining groups, volunteering, and maintaining relationships with loved ones. Social involvement should always have a high importance in our lives in order for our brains to thrive. It comes down to setting goals and focusing on overall health. Great tips!

Patrik Meyer achieves explaining the brain’s ability, capacity, and how to improve brain function, and memory. Through a holistic approach encompassing exercise, diet and practical suggestions in this book, the brain can develop a higher level of cognition. The demands on cognitive abilities and memory increases with age. The older I get the more I need to exercise my cognitive abilities, and memory. This book is very helpful and worth keeping on my shelf.

Patrik sheds light on the three types of memory, the working memory, the sensory memory, and short-term memory. He includes a wealth of strategies that will boost brain connections, and ideas on incorporating brain optimization into daily life.

He uses everyday language, making a complex subject an easy read. Each chapter serves as a pillar that gives techniques, tips, and strategies that will influence brain performance.

I was really fascinated by all of the brain anatomy and function even though I struggled to follow along sometimes. I really loved the chapter on nutrition! I was super surprised by that too. I liked that it wasn’t about losing weight, but rather benefiting your brain health which is so important especially as I get older and I notice the signs of my parents’ memories starting to waver. The recipes also sounded so good and I really want to try them! Also the same with the following chapter on exercise was also a new way of framing it for brain health rather than just trying to lose weight. Overall, probably the most captivating book I have read from this author thus far.

A book to improve your brain health.

It is amazing to me to think about the fact that many of the things that happen both mentally and physically are in the care that we give to our brain. This book offers a myriad of exercises and tools that allow you as a reader to understand that there are many ways to take you to your full potential. I loved this book because it has many ways to teach you how to learn and care for the health of your brain. 100% recommended.

If you've ever wondered how your diet is affecting your brain, this book has that answer and so many more. I was very impressed with the conversational way that which the author shared interesting facts and techniques about brain optimization. The book even includes recipes for balanced 'brain food' meals. It was also interesting to learn about the links between the brain and exercise. I found the chapter about the importance of sleep hygiene and its effect on the brain very informative, too!

practical advice to keep your mind sharp!

I really enjoyed this book. Our brain is basically all we have, our most precious gift. We need to take extra special care of it. In this book I learned some of the ways to maintain mental acuity and hang on to our cognitive abilities. This book offers up some very practical strategies and tips to work on our brains abilities. I would recommend this to anyone interested in any kind of mental retention or enhancement.

The 5 Pillars of Brain Optimization is a guide written by Patrik Meyer that truly helped me. Since I was a little girl, I have struggled with loss of memory and I have a lot of difficulty putting my thoughts into action, Meyer did a great job explaining in detail what I can do to change my habits and improve my skills. Fast reading, but filled with information that gets you moving!

My whole family took advantage of this book; it has a lot of good information to work on cognitive abilities for all ages really. I like how the author mixed that information with exercising, cutting back on drinking and having healthy habits. A very resourceful read to enhance the reader's potential no matter what field they work on.
