Scrum is a simple framework that allows us to complete projects, continuously improve and get an early return on investment. AUTHOR NOTE "I write this text as a certified scrum master with experience in international blue chip companies dating back to 1999. That experience includes leading projects for the BBC, General Electric, Oracle, BSkyB, HiT Entertainment (responsible for Angelina Ballerina, Bob the builder and other titles that you love watching with your kids or siblings but won’t admit to) and Razorfish. These roles have all involved leadership on a wealth of mobile, internet TV and web software projects. I have played the role of scrum master and in the earlier years, of team lead and technical lead. I have had the privilege of running projects and rolling out working practices in market leading organisations from start to finish." The scrum framework is a simple framework for delivering projects. Although it is targeted towards complex projects, it’s principles can be used to ensure that any project or task is delivered on time. In scrum, delivering a project “on-time” means that those involved commit to and deliver a set of features by the end of a defined period called a sprint. When the product owner is happy that enough “sprints-worth” of features have been delivered he or she can make a decision to release the product. Deliver on commitments regularly, gives confidence that a release is on track. The challenge in delivering each sprint “on-time” comes from the fact that each team and individual comes with their own characteristics and each sprint comes with it's own challenges. Therefore, there is a high degree of unpredictability involved in meeting sprint commitments. This book will give concise tips based on industry experience. These o how each scrum role can help maximise the chance of a successful project delivered on time o how to combat the key challenges to make sure that your projects deliver on time. Paul VII

A very realistic approach to solving real world problems that arise in any tech project, and how to solve them within a Scrum framework. Would have liked more examples.
